I assume that the support weapons crew parts are compatible with the troopers and all the stuff from the accessory sprue?

Does anyone have pics of the "normal" trooper sprues or the support weapons? I've got a day and a half to lock in my order so the more pics the better!

All parts are interchangeable. I'll try and post sprue pics later today for you.

Here's pics from a troopers box.

Still sealed, well not anymore

Three types of sprues. The little one you only get one of, the other two you get two each in the 20man box.

Legs

Bases

Alternate weapons.

Sorry I already cut the support weapon guys from the sprues.

I did a review of both the 20 trooper box and the support weapons with sprue pics:

http://thecolorblindmodelpainter.blogspot.com/2013/04/dreamforge-games-stormtrooper-accessory.html

http://thecolorblindmodelpainter.blogspot.com/2013/02/dreamforge-games-20-x-stormtrooper-box.html

One thing to note is that the support weapons don't come with any individual weapons for the crews (MG, SMG, Pistols) just thew weapons systems themselves. However if you pick up the accessory est, you should have plenty of spares to either glue to the base or on the crew's backs.

I am happy and quite relieved to announce stage 2 has met a major milestone. I do not have an exact date yet but we are on the last steps before final runs.

I received the weapons files yesterday, made some minor changes to them and sent them back today.

This is one of the milestones worth noting, it means that they will soon be doing the sprue layouts and providing me with box dimensions for box art

Current action items on the table:

·Final approval of the Mortis instructions

·Box art for the mini Crusader

·Instructions for the mini Crusader

·Box art for the 28mm weapons

·Instructions for the 28mm weapons

All files have now been approved and we are tidying up the details for stage 2. They have already run the Mortis and are getting the boxes printed now. They have made the minor gate fixed for the mini Crusader and will begin running those soon (I will get you picks of the 15mm Crusader ASAP) I have a set of the legs for the 15mm crusader and WOW! There are some small details on that kit… They were able to keep all the details and it sure looks impressive.

Cheers!

Mark

I would think that box art for the weapons is something that'll go quickly. I imagine that there are renders of the various arms available to position similarly to the art on the LH Vulkan Cannon box, and the pics on the back of the box, so they ought to be able to use the Vulkan box art as a template and get those done really quickly. Instructions for them also ought to go quickly, the Mauler Claws are the most complex ones, and they've already got the Mortis instructions to take the art and adapt from.

It'll be interesting to see the differences between the box art and instructions for the mini Crusader and the full sized one.

OK, so what does that mean? When will the Mortis ship?

I know it’s a very difficult process and there is a lot of work to do but is an update once a month saying "hey, here is an updated time table for when we expect to ship wave 2" too much to ask? An approximate date is fine.

These updates about the printing the box and writing the instructions are interesting but it doesn't help me find out when the item will ship. All it does is invite speculation on when we will get the products from people who are not involved in the process. I paid $200 for the product and I will gladly wait for it to arrive but I should at the very least get an updated schedule when the models don't meet their original ship date. That's just common sense and a requirement in every industry, other than miniature war gaming I guess.

Well, the first sentence says he doesn't have exact dates yet. Which date are you asking about, though? Shipping day is not so helpful because the ship might be delayed at sea or at customs, then the truck might not be unloaded locally for a few days, then delays in the post for customs, again...

With all these things being said, I wouldn,t expect shipping from Utah to begin before the beginning of August, best case scenario.

Well, Mortis' are physically done, just waiting on the boxes. Mini Crusaders are about to have their turn on the injection molding machines. I'd imagine that while they're being cast (is that even the correct turn for injection molded plastic), that they'll be cutting the molds for the weapons arms.

I'll put down early September as my guess.

Oh, three delicious mini-crusaders/Dreadknight proxies will (relatively) soon be mine!

Are the Weapon alts wave 2 as well?

28mm Weapon alts are wave 2, as Mark said, he just tweaked and gave the OK on the files for those, so they ought to be cutting the molds for them soon.

15mm Weapon alts are wave 3. And, yes, for those times I play in a setting other than the local GW store, those mini Crusaders are absolutely ideal for Dreadknights.

I'm not looking for exact dates as I've stated in my post. But a schedule would be nice. Such as we will be done with building the Mortis in late July eary August, I will start shipping when its done. NA look for shipping to happen in the middle of August. If the schedule moves to the right (as it has done a few times) then we know approximately when we're getting our stuff.

With this kind of project he has to have a schedule. Why not share it with us. Most people have been very understanding of the delays. Still doesn't mean we wouldn't like more information other than a snapshot of exactly where he is today.

Everything in Wave 2 is going to ship across the pond at once, so it seems that the real question is, when are the weapon arms going to start being cast, and how long will their run time be?

In a van down by the river

If you read between the lines of Mark's comments, the issue isn't that he doesn't have a schedule. The issue is that the people who are making it happen have their own opaque agenda and Mark is just as beholden to that as we are. For example, they told him "you will have the files (last) Wednesday" which turned into yesterday.

This is a lot of his reluctance to put up that information; it's proven not entirely reliable in the past so he's opting to go with "this is what I know to be true" instead of "this is what I think/was told." I'm sure this is in no small part due to the fact that he doesn't like breaking his word anymore than we like him breaking it. If he can't be confident of his information, he's not going to share and I can't fault him for that so long as he's keeping us as in the loop as he is.

I don't mean this to dump on WGF; they've done excellent work translating Mark's designs into real things. However, their communication seems to have been sorely lacking. Again, as the ones that are making a great idea into an awesome product, their's is the schedule that has the greatest impact.

Aren't there a few other companies who are currently spinning up products through WGF at the moment? I have to wonder if they've had a surge of customers for their factory that may be putting pressure on the resources that they have.

Yes. Mark mentioned WGF spent a week or so moving shop so I think they're trying to cope with some big growth. Hopefully the worst of that is done, but I'm not sure I'd bet that way.

and as Sedition Wars found out even when produced and containerised (if that's a word) stuff can sit at the docks for weeks (I think it was about 4) simply because the shipping agent can't get it onto a boat going to an port you can take it on from

big customers shipping lots of stuff get priority, small customers like a games or mini company with the odd container now and then get bumped

If you're lucky customs takes a few days to a week, if you're unlucky they take 1-2 months for no obvious reason

Well normally a company has a plan or a schedule, and such things are included in the time frame.

Mathieu, I think beginning of August is much too optimistic. Some enterprising soul should look up when Mark gave this update for Wave 1 (as I believe he gave a very similar one slightly farther into the process, "Just box art left to be done" or the like) and how long it was till people received items.

I think there will be Several months yet to go... personally, if I had to throw out a date I would pencil in late October - early November.

Thank you for the reviews, information, pictures and links, gentlemen. I just decided to spend money on things available today rather than Kickstarting (need to cut down some pledges now), so I ordered a bunch of Hell Dorado stuff, as well as 2 Boxes of Infantry, 2 of Support Weapons (the store only had 2 in stock) and 1 accessory box. Probably won't do a thing with them until I can get a third support weapons box, and possibly a third infantry box, as they'll obviously be built in Imperial Guard-compatible terms. Found a local place with them, and ordered express, so hopefully in my hands on Friday night!

That's going to be a glorious weekend, Azazelx!

RiTides: I am an eternal optimist, aren't I? Except for RH...

Truth is I want the 28mm Mortis into my friends' hand as quickly as possible, because I want to get them off my back. It's past the "arh arh, funny Mat" phase into a shylock phase now.

Concerning WGF, I'm wondering if they considered how much taking on so many 3rd parties' production is hurting their brand as well. They aren't exactly putting out tons of stuff themselves either. Also, failure of my own imagination, but I am having a hard time seeing the move of a factory and all its equipment as being done in under 2 weeks. The effort must be gargantuan. Maybe they had life-sized leviathans to move stuff around?

Or they were just moving the slide-core machines across the street or next door to make space for more machines on the main floor. DISCLAIMER: I have no knowledge of this move, just pointing out that "moving shop" may not mean the whole kit-and-kaboodle and might just be a single business unit. It'd play just as much merry hell with that BU though.

That's an important concern. WGF really did an amazing ( and relatively quick) turnaround and managed to salvage their reputation after a pretty dark period. Of course, their competitor helped them with that a bit Being associated with a late project is not good for their PR. They've had some good hits with the excellent Dreamforge work, the new zombies and survivors, and I have to say I was really impressed with the Leviathans.

WGF has some releases of their own on the very near horizon, I have pre-production sprues in my hands for painting. That's probably all I can say. I believe one of these releases was delayed because they wanted something on the mold redone to be correct.

I'm curious how many people chomping at the bit about the second wave have their first wave completed and painted. I'm just starting mine :(

I was hoping for transports for my infantry before starting... I don't want a guard blob. That, and the command, and black widows. All Wave 3... likely Spring 2014, I think :-/
