re. the Australia import duty thing, if it does happen it shouldn't be on everything, rather just a reduction in the threshold for applying it. Currently it's on packages worth over $1K, the change should make it apply on say packages over $100, $500... something like that. Easy fixed by WGF by having agreed upon values of the goods ; p Especially given the nature of the KS process, it should be easy to say that the items are worth less than one might normally think! ; ) Since they'll be shipping from China, that's usually done from companies there for us anyway, so it's not unexpected.

We have no idea what the threshhold will be. It used to be $500, years and years ago before it bumped to $1k. Harvey wants it to be on purchases of $20 or more (!), despite the amount it would cost the government to collect it, as he's only interested in his own bottom line, but Abbott is fo course wanting to be Harvey's mate... When WGF China sent out the missing sprues to make my Leviathan into a Mortis, they listed the parcel with the full retail value of a Mortis on it (for just a couple of sprues). I'm also a bit annoyed (yeah, something's always annoying me, I know) that projects like the DFG one being months or well over a year (in this case) late is going to end up costing us even more money.

Robotech Tactics, Cthulhu Wars are both delayed from their Christmas 2014 dates, and since neither seems to be especially actually competent at production, I'm sure both will tick over into Q2 when the GST imports go live... and both are over the $500 mark, especially since it will likely be charged on the overseas postage costs as well as the product value (this is how customs used to do it - yes really!) So yeah, this is going to affect my KS spending in a pretty major way going forward. We should hopefully be able to avoid it on projects with Australian distribution like the Secret Weapon Tablescapes, but everything else is up in the air...

Speaking as an employee for a major distributor here, the $1000 import thing is KILLING our product in Australia because it's not per package. It's per package in customs from one shipper to one receiver. So if one package gets cause in customs, and the next one catches up to it, both will be taxed accordingly so long as their combined value is over $1000 AUSD

Yep Kalishikov it's brutal. It adds so much to the cost. 10% GST + Import duty iirc, on the combined item value + shipping + insurance etc.

It's better than most below that threshold though which is nice if you're there. Above... *shudders*

The change is not a done deal though, really hoping (the very unlikely) common sense prevailing.

At least you're not Canadian. Seriously.

Duty threshold is $20, though our customs agency has nowhere near the manpower to process most things at that threshold, more realistically it's about $100. The fun part is since our domestic post is chronically incompetent and doesn't offer any kind of tracking or insurance for anything less than a King's ransom, most shippers use UPS to get stuff into the country, or other such services. However, since our customs agency is incredibly slow, and has to draw resources from a wide variety of organizations, UPS then charges a king's ransom to the recipient for processing duties. So, to use an example, something with a $250 value will have to pay about $40 in duties (with exceptions, certain products have enormous tariffs here, such as books, which are about 25%), and if you've done the smart thing and had the package insured via UPS, the recipient then pays another $76 on top of the $40 in shipping. The alternative as a shipper is to rely on the post, with no tracking and upwards of a month travel time to major cities, 2-3 months for isolated regions, and the customer only ends up paying the duties - if they even get the package, or choose to scam you. As a customer, you can never know when something might actually arrive, or pay enormous fees. Neither is attractive.

This is one of the reasons I haven't backed any kickstarters in large quantities or done bulk orders of anything; Forgeworld, Miniature Market, nothing. Books, totally out of the question. I'll take my dreamforge like I take everything else; one box at a time.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I've been incredibly lucky. I get most stuff shipped to our store and so far only DFG has had me paying duties. But for such huge boxes, it was expected. For some reason, we've not even paid import duties on posters lately, and those tubes are usually tagged as an easy mark for tariffs.

The way our company handles that is we take care of the duties. It sucks but it's what has to be done. We also stick with UPS and even that can take two weeks + to make it to our one store in Newfie or some of my stores in Alberta.

At this point yes, just promotions but if we release the Scythe and Sword arms it may make it into general release.

Any resemblance of this post to written English is purely coincidental.

Just recieved pledge manager email. Since I don't have any wave three items I have the choice to have my missing armor shipped now. Those who had wave three items coming will receive the armor with that batch. Glad the email had my login for the kickstarter, there's no way. Woul have remembered it from back then.

I guess since they have the armor plates now we might be seeing the gun arms going retail soon.

Theo is slightly incorrect, you can request to have the arms shipped to you before wave 3 if you want. Which I did.

Wait- you just got an email?

I didn't... but is that because I only had Wave 1 and Wave 3 items, no Wave 2 (and thus nothing to adjust regarding shoulder armor)?

Man, I cannot wait for the minis Mortises although I guess I will be

Now that that's out of the way, I'm not entirely sure which way I want to go. I have some left arm armor, so it's maybe not critical. However, as Alph put it with Wave 3 at some uncertain point in the future it might be best to get while the getting is good. I'll have to mull that one for a bit as with mostly Crusaders that armor would be needed for the arms I want to use with them.

It seems as if they've sorted it rather well - you're only going to get an email IF you need the replacement parts to begin with - and they 'know' if you do!

And when you log on, you're only given the option for those specific parts - pretty slick!

Peculiar how I received my missing stuff a week or 2 ago, I would have been happy to wait since the leviathans are still on my wall of shame. Maybe shipping a small packet from HK to Aus was cheap enough for them to not care.

Update #117 Dec 14, 2013
You have mail! (missing part requests for stage 2 items)
Spoiler:
Anyone who received a stage 2 shipment with missing armor, capacitor cooler or sword for the 15mm kits should be getting an email from Wargames Factory with a link and sign in information to request the missing items be sent before stage 3.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know and I will assist wherever I can. You can leave a message below or send me a message here and I will reply ASAP.

An example of the email is posted below, if for some reason you did not receive the email, you are welcome to message me here and I will supply the login and password for your account.

Thank you again!

Dreamforge-Games Kickstarter Backers,

Stage 2 of the kickstarter shipped in October 2013. Unfortunately there were some optional parts that did not get included in some of the stage 2 kits when they were assembled at our factory. If you received any of the kits mentioned below you are now able to log into our Dreamforge-Games Pledge Manager website (http://www.wargamesfactory.net/) and request the parts.

{{stage3|$0.00 |Important Note: Your pledge has stage 3 items remaining to be shipped. We will include any missing parts from Stage 2 with your Stage 3 shipment. You do not need to request any of these parts unless you need them sooner than your stage 3 shipment. For updates on Stage 3 please visit the Dreamforge games kickstarter page.|}}

Left Arm Upper armor was left out of the following kits:
- Beowulf / Grendel Leviathan Arm (28mm)
- Nova Cannon Leviathan Arm (28mm)
- Ripper Saw Leviathan Arm (28mm)
- Hel Cannon Leviathan Arm (28mm)
(If you are using any of the above arms as right arms or for Mortis Robots you may not require these armor parts.)

15mm Leviathan Crusader
Kickstarter backers were supposed to have Free Capacitor Cooler and Excalibur swords included with each 15mm Leviathan Crusader kit. If you have assembled your Crusader with the default "Stacks" and sword you may not need or want these optional parts.
As a reminder your login information for the pledge manager site (http://www.wargamesfactory.net/) is:

password: {{pass}}

Thank you,

For some reason, my Ripper Saw fits on the left arm just fine. I decided to assemble all my other arms as right arms, since I didn't think I'd ever want to build mine with both sword and ripper. (Yes, let me run at them faster so I can swing a sword at them... getting shot at all the way)

I just want my Black Widows. Hopefully it'll me get me motivated to play 40K again.

I have wave 3 items, but WGF just mailed me the shoulders without any communication. I would have been happy to wait but I'm certainly not complaining. I think the little parcel cost then $HK7 which ~= $AU1 which is pretty damn cheap for a (small) parcel. Gotta love shipping from China.

Yeah the Pacific Rim customers were shipped direct from HK because the costs were considerably less than shipping from the US when you take into account the maximum package thickness before it has to be classified as a parcel and the price quadruples or more.

China just is not set up to be a distribution center for individual shipments, they are well equipped for loading containers to a single destination but shipping to hundreds of individual locations is a bit of a challenge. They opted to bite the bullet and get it over with, rather than delaying and having to sort through the option of "these now and then those later" with the possibility that the "those later' may have come at a very bad time when they might have been facing loading for several projects and not just mine.

Great response Mark.

I have had my e-mail and checked, and done nothing (As I am perfectly happy waiting). However, it would have been nice to have some sort of number system included.

For instance, I got 2 Beowulf/Grendels and 2 H.E.L.s. So technically I am owed 4 sets of armour. If I get that, I will end up with 2 of each over as I will be building one left and one right of each. Is there any way I can let people know that I only need 2 sets set with my wave 3 order?

I'll just have to hope I can get somewhere with it in the new year as I'm going home for christmas at the end of the week, and won't have internet access until I get back to work on the 6th

Hopefully, I'll cope by getting on with some stuff that needs doing at home and then working on my Leviathan and the base I have in mind for it. Then when I get back, I'll have to post the progress I have made and probably a tutorial or two on how I did a couple of things - provided they turn out well.

Still, I'll have to come in an hour early on my first day back to catch up - and I probably won't be fully up to speed for a week or so. (Yes, I do mean catch up on Dakka!)
