Why not WGF WW2 Germans as the conscripts? For conversions, their Shock Troopers have some cool looking 'energy weapons' and helmets that work with the DFG style.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. They'll look suitable soft and wimpy compared to the armoured gods that are the Eisenkern.

I just discovered them. I'm actually going with the Soviets. Since they come with one extra. [Commissar]
and they were on sale for 13 usd a box this weekend.
and regarding bases.... general convention says bigger is hardly ever a problem. Smaller bases are borderline cheating.

And while I love Vic ' s stuff. .. They aren't exactly priced well for using as Conscripts.
I voted for the craziest of the bases. I figure that if I want GW or PP-sized bases, they're easy to come by and cheap as chips. Agreed on Vic's stuff as well.

OK, now that (or Warlord Germans, or Perry DAK) is a simple and perfect idea for conscripts to the Eisenkern. Kudos, Bob.

As for the plain and smooth surface of the Hanomag, well, look at a real Hanomag opf WW-II they were pretty smooth skinned, camo, decals, maybe some fresh Hord-O-Bitz orders for Imperial Aquilas to glue on and well, there ay go, plus the hanging of kit bags as well, I see it as an easier to make as you like model where the Taurox, well, major work needed. Wheels being the easiest part to exchange, I have seen some nice re-works of the Taurox out there.
Hanomag I like more. so saving for those instead .

Yeah, I think that people who cry "but it's so plain!" at the Iron Core stuff do so mainly because 40k has conditioned so much of the tabletop mini gamers to it's aesthetic of OVERdecoration and embellishment of surfaces. For those that really demand bling, there's a virtue in having a blank canvas to which you can add bits where YOU want it, while it's a good deal harder to scrape off extra unwanted decoration without screwing the model up badly.

Exactly! I like the idea of details, but if there is no need for extraneous crud crusted all over the machine, it allows one to do their own personal touches. to the models. Many have been conditioned to expect a ton of unneeded details and ornamentation on their models as GW does, yet as was noted in WW-II, "aim for the hatches!" as those were the weak points as were other parts of heavier armored tanks that lighter tanks faced. I like still the Hanomag over the Taurox, and those who have placed wheels on the second model, they improve greatly, just so many other details for detailing sake the Taurox has overly in abundance. Glad I'm not the only one thinking of the possibilities the plainer armor of the hanomag offers!

I'm guessing those sprues don't have the same footprint as the Leviathan ones? That is still a massive amount of plastic, which would justify Land Raider prices.
Plus, you know, full interior.

Retail on Leviathans is $110-120 (Mortis vs. Crusader), though obviously discounters and sales drive that cost into the range you're seeing. A guess of $60-65 retail on the APC probably isn't that far off. Maybe $75 if the retail package includes the crew and passengers.
As excited as I am for the models, I have to suppress my overdeveloped sense of instant gratification; these are likely a ways off still. Closer now than ever before, but still not a "coming to shelves next week!" situation. Not that I need to be in any sort of hurry; my painting queue could probably stretch into the 2030s at this point...

Plus True scale. As in you can actually get the crew, and 10 troops inside the thing. And there is an obvious place for the engine (Hope there is an exhaust too!). And it looks like we get working steering and rotating wheels. And it looks unlikely that you jump out of a door straight into the firing line of its own guns (Land Raider and Taurox, I'm looking at you!)
Plus nice large flat armour plates. Good for adding your own detail if you want, and for not having to carefully remove shedloads of skulls/chapter icons/whatever if you don't.

Thanx for that share Dwartist! It shows what we can look forwards to, and if improvements are made before it goes retail sale, even better! Likely be in a chunky brick of a box I will be likely order batches if they are at 50bucks or so. I need a decent amount for my Eisenkern platoons
