Oh, in that case I think backerkit's tacky instead, which isn't on KD, though still think the lack of instructions is lame.

It's a good example of the risks of having a project run wholly by someone who is very creative and has a certain vision, but doesn't know when to stop or have someone tell him or her what to look out for or keep in mind in the long run.

Raging Heroes also comes to mind with this in spades, though while they have overshot their projected dates by a long shot, they did stay well within their budget and delivered on their promises, without surprise fees or the like.

I think Creature Caster is also going down this road, judging from the odd updates and reactions to these I see in its respective thread.

As far as I can recall the tip jar is in backer kit as it would sometimes happen that a backer (any project) had some pledge money left over that they couldn't use up but they didn't want to add any extra funds, the total had to balance off to close the pledge so the tip jar was added to deal with any left over money. I've seen it in other pledge mangers for a similar reason.

All that said I think the tip jar here was set to multiples on $10 only and that was a choice made by the project creator.

Lack of Instructions is lame, some of these models are not straight forward to put together. A big thank you for all the guys putting out unofficial guides, they have been a great help.

That doesn't let Potts of the hook for not doing it himself.

I'm glad I'm not the only one upset by the way this was all handeled. The models are lovely, and some are massive. But this isn't the 41st millenium, the ends doesn't always justify the means.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Totally agreed. Fantastic vision, lovely execution. No editorial control to rein things in.

Very cool. Nothing yet for me, but what did you have for expansions? Wondering if they're going from least complex to most complex.

Oh, and can you confirm where it's shipping from?

Yeah, you gotta give up the details! Let us know what's coming, and where it's coming from.

I'm a few pages late but regarding the "tip jar" discussion - I don't think this is optional, or at least, with certain BackerKit packages it's required for it to be included on the add-ons page.

I have seen a few campaigns without it, so maybe in some configurations it can be removed... but just wanted to mention that that might not have been an intentional thing.

And so begins the madness wherein I check my inbox compulsively for a shipping confirmation. When it finally arrives, it will be replaced by compulsively checking the status.

The real question is, did you get a tracking number? As an ebay seller who has been stung by forgetting to supply a tracking number, im rather curious how much product Poots shipped out the door during wave 2 under false claims of lost items. I hope he does not make the same mistake twice.

Don't think Adam's handling the shipping for this wave. I believe that fall's to the guys at the warehouses holding the goods.

Don't forget to regularly check your front porch (or wherever your packages arrive) from now until arrival. I got the KD:M game before the shipping notification. Live in Southern California, though, so that certainly expedited things.

For a project as large as KD:M, and the complexity of the pick&pack, I would be surprised if his error rate was less than 1%. Against the number of backers, I wouldn't be surprised if he had to make another 100-odd shipments to "fix things".

As for false claims, I would really hope that backers wouldn't be so craven.

Thanks Breotan.

Only reason I asked was because I was curious if they were sending orders out in terms of simplicity, but it looks like you went all in as opposed to just a few bits and pieces.

Bodes well for the rest of us who ordered just about everything!

Nope. Unless you only ordered one or two expansions, that is.

They have images of the rulebooks stacked, and how much extra space a bunch of that stuff takes up in the main box, and the boxes themselves.

FWIW, people are saying it's shipping to US backers from a warehouse in Michigan.

I can confirm the Michigan origin point!

What are the 11 boxes in that pic?

That sounds expensive. You make special arrangements?
