You know how sometimes you see a model and you feel like you have to paint it RIGHT NOW or else you'll not be able to sleep?

This was one of those models.

Picked it up today from local GW and had it built less than an hour later and just finished painting it.

He's a great model which I can see spawning almost as many conversions as the Nurgle Chaos Lord does. I'm quite chuffed with the cloak.

I like the base too, looks very slushy and cold. He could use some Gore Tex liners.

Good job. I think the work you have done on the cloak is really good. The addition of the snow and how you have done it is really good too, it makes him very real and gritty looking.

I really love it, but i think maybe some purple highlights on the blade would be even better imo. I guess youre going for the obsidion look though so thats cool. Cloak looks really good, especially with the snow.

The shading round the eyes makes it look less like Al Murray, which is a good thing (probably).

Good job!

I should clarify that I had him built less than an hour after buying him but it took me about 6 hours to paint him. I posted just after the last coat of varnish had dried hence "just finished painting him".

It's such a nice model I'm trying to find reasons to get another to turn into a BSB but convert him just enough to make it not the same model.

It might have had something to do with the unjustified price tag. Which is one of the reasons I was going to leave this at store shelf, until I fell into "you're only 7 euros short of tiered discount" trap. Again.

Nice paintjob. I'd prefer slightly stronger shading on the gold parts, but other than that, very nice job.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

Is the scaled look of the blade an actual part of the sculpt, or is that just a really expert paint job?

That's actually part of the sculpt. I was going to try and paint it as if it had warp fire burning within but really couldn't pull it off convincingly so went for an Obsidian effect.

I'm still struggling with painting gold at the moment. My goal with my Warriors of Chaos is to use them to practice my metallics and snow basing. I can pull off super polished steel quite well and rusted iron but polished Gold is something I'm very aware that I need to improve.

Yes. 4 days ago. And i'm still waiting for it to be delivered.

You have a fantastically painted Chaos Lord there. I hope mine comes out a fraction as good as yours.

Dont worry about your gold, i think it looks great... and you cloak? wow, it looks great with the shiny silver and dulled gold

Well done i have to say.

Quick question: is the head part of the sculpt or is it a seperate piece?

The head is completely separate and there is a nice big space so you can put pretty much whatever you want in there.
