This should basically be the family motto on my mother's side.
How humorous would it be, if the guy who invented that word did it by the action it describes
*cue scene, Sushi bar in Tokyo, late at night, you enter halfway through a conversation*
'...ah, what's that thing, you know, when someone does something for you, but, like, you don't want them to do, and then it sucks, but you have to say thank you anyway?'
'I know, I'll come up with a word for it!'
'Nah, don't worry about it, let's just order I'm starving...'
'No no no, it'll only take 5 minutes, hang on, hang on, I'll think of something now, bingo! arigata-meiwaku! that's what we'll call it! Now, just give me a sec while I phone the dictionary company and get this added!'
'No, seriously, I'm hungry and last orders is soon, let's just eat and deal with it later'
*pulls out cellphone*
'Hey, um, dictionary guys, I've got a new word to add, yeah, its a-r-i-g-a-t-a...'
*30 minutes later, waitress approaches table*
*hangs up phone*
The waitress speaks: 'I'm very sorry gentlemen, but the restaurant has now closed'
'oh dang, took a bit longer than I though, but hey, it's all sorted buddy, you're new word is now officially in the dictionary!'
*stomach grumbles*
'Um, thanks, yeah, that's great...'
Anyway, back to the Topic, have you thought about playing the 'too little time' card? just say you don't have the time to dedicate a particular time amount on a particular day to play it because you need to get other important stuff done, and you don't want him to waste money on a subscription you won't get your money's worth out of?
