Hello.
Situation:
Unit hides behind cover, but attached character is not.
They are shot at with Ap2 weapon.
If he makes Look out Sir roll, wound is transferred to unit.
Does they get to make cover saves? Because nearest model is not in cover, and it seems weird that soldiers jumping to save the commander get cover for sitting in trenches.

Cover is made on a model by model basis. If the model taking the wound is in cover, it gets a save.

Perhaps a better question is, can you still do a look out sir if the nearest model is out of LOS?

There is currently no restriction on what model can take the wound. It must simply be the closest model. So yes no LoS is required.

ADD causes my posts to ramble from time to time. Please bear with me.

But you can't assign wound to model out of LoS.

I guess it's a good thing that LoS! circumvents the normal allocation rules then.

bullet point 2 on page 16 -

On a roll of 4+,the look Out, Sir attempt is successful.
You must pick a model from the same unit within 6"
and resolve the Wound against them instead. This can
even be a model that is out of range or line of sight of the
Shooting attack.
