I hate the maulerfiend model and I'm thinking of using the new slaughterbrute from warriors of chaos range as a counts as, as long as i put it on the right base, is there any problem using it as a counts as?

That really depends on who you intend to play with. Ask your play group what they think.

If you intend to go to a tournament, check with the tournament organizer first.

There are no univeral rules here. What's ok in one person's basement may be not ok in someone else's.

Looking at the pictures, I believe they're exactly the same size. As they're both Close Combat Daemons that don't tote guns, I seriously doubt you'll have a problem with it. Just use the right base.

Thanks, i thought so, just wanted to get a few opinions from the community.

*most* of the time, *most* people are cool with subs/conversions or coutns as. the general rule of thumb is to be 100% clear and show and tell before the game. when i play my dark eldar, i make it VERY clear what vehicle has what, what markings mean what, and wich unit is the trueborn, or warriors. (since both are near identical in model appearance) the same for necron royal courts, or anything else.

so, as long as your using the proper base, have a model of about the same size, and show and tell, then convert and counts as all you want in my books. thats what makes the game cool, and interesting - instead of "oh look ...another one of *those* armies...."

I agree with the others, most of the time this shouldn't be an issue, as long as its on the right base. A friend of mine used one of the big FW chaos robots (can't remember the name, spider looking thing) as his maulerfiend.

As an aside, doing a bit of extra work would go a long way toward convincing any naysayers. Maybe put some armour plating on its back or something.

Add platings/armor, cables, pincers and ork Death dredd CCW, or even replace the talon that is up-air, with a Defiler CCW, and it should do the trick and really look like a Deamon engine.

So that there will be less confusion for your opponents, the thing looks part machine=Deamon machine=Maulerfiend.

It's such a beautiful model...

And it's $85, i don't know if i want to cut it up lol

I have a Armorcast Reaver Titan, i'm converting the hell outta it!
I've i owned an FW Angron modele, i wouldn't hesitate for a split second to cut it and convert it.

No modeles are good enough to not be cut, thats what i got from 15yrs of cutting and glueing and sculpting.

except a metal titan good luck getting a hobby knife or anything just as precise through that

if only they had those... (might break the table and your back trying to carry that thing)

Anything thats not the official model or composed of mostly GW bitz AND obviously suppose to be what youre claiming it to be falls upon whatever group youre in or the tourny your at on whether its legal or not. Long as its the right size and not a non-GW product, usually they dont care.

Friendly-game wise, i dont know anyone that'd complain about a kid's show standing in for a landraider because its about the same size lol. Pretty sure that wouldnt fly in a tourny though

You... You monster. How dare you destroy an Armorcast Reaver. Those things are collectable.

I hesitate to cut up things all the damn time.

Why?

Because with the exception of Boyz bitz, im limited on what i got to work with. My pile of chopped pieces that are still usable is fairly small, and even that tiny pile urks me when i look at it.

Even chopping up a bike body makes me think about what im doing lol. I dont have an overstock of it, so im leery of it.
