hi guys,

quick question. if a land speeder deep strikes, is it allowed to pivot (change facing) on the turn it arrives? the deep strike rules on pg 36 say that units arriving by deep strike may not move any further in the movement phase. however, on pg 71 under vehicle movement, it says that "pivoting on the spot alone does not count as moving". is it an abuse of the language on pg 71 to allow a vehicle that arrived via deep strike to pivot? I'm leaning towards yes (i.e., no pivoting allowed for deep striking vehicles), but wanted to double check my interpretation.

No pivoting is allowed as per the DS rules the model keeps it's facing.

ADD causes my posts to ramble from time to time. Please bear with me.

They can flat-out in the shooting phase though and change their facing then.

Question though... Why would you want to pivot after deep striking? Wy not just deep strike facing the way you want?

scatter puts you in an arc you didn't originally intend? That's all I can think of.

Scatter is a marker... When you place the vehicle you can choose the facing then.

that's incorrect. you place the deep striking vehicle on the table, facing the way you want, then you roll scatter. if it scatters, you retain the original facing when you move the model. so, if you scatter badly it's possible that your intended target isn't in your facing anymore (e.g., you scatter past the target).

Edit: I think for infantry what you said is true. just not vehicles

Ah - I'd forgotten that bit since I never use vehicles. Thanks.

Varl -I think you have it right. The deep strike rule specifically states that when scattering vehicles you keep the same facing as originally positioned. If you could then pivot anyway it would make no sense to go into that level of detail, ornthe explanation in the deep strike rule would say that you could then pivot.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
