Ok, so after a week where i (literally) got tricked into working (grumble grumble) i have finally gotten Flipswitch's PanO Tactica Thread posted:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/509391.page#5314922

Sadly i am away for a week now (first holiday in 5 years...), but on my return i will update anything that needs doing and post up the remaining two Yu Jing threads.

Apologies on the tardiness...

mould2k: Welcome to Infinity!

Casey: great work on the painting comp my friend! looking forward to seeing it all come together (and get started )

ediyt: there is also a new Military Orders Thread that has just been stickied, which is worth adding to the list i think Casey: Tactika : Military Orders by Noirfatale

Good work my man, no apologies necessary. I'll update the OP.

Enjoy your holiday and when you get back I would very much like to see any Nomad stuff ported over, particularly Bakunin. No rush though, have a good time!

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I've been writing up some home-brew rules for Infinity that will need some community input. So rather than post them on the official forums, which has a lot of such things already, I might well start a topic here (and possibly the new Data Sphere forum - linking comments from the two).

They relate to using a 3rd player/gamesmaster in games, and fighting in amongst civilian areas (with rules for civilian interactions, security and police forces, and other random events) - something I also thought was an inherent staple of the imagery surrounding Infinity, but that is very hard to pull off within the game mechanics. Will hopefully have something to post soon

Excellent news on all fronts!

No rush on the Nomads Reiko, just nudge them up the list. I'm looking forward to hearing about this project Pacific. I'm really into the idea of combat in heavily populated areas. It's very 'Infinity,' lots of combat hacking and stand offs, civilian devices getting mucked about by the crossfire and then it all goes to frak. A hacker slumps lifelessly to the pavement and the bullets start flying. Awesome...

Aside from organising the competition I need to pm you too, Silver. Sorry I keep forgetting, I'll do it tonight.

I kinda missed the last week of Infinity posts. But I hope the community building doesn't revolve around playing the game. Cuz that is just... not my forte, let's say.

It's normal to lose the first few games, especially in Infinity. I wouldn't worry about that.

Fixed that for you.

It's how we soften the blow for new players here. If their egos can't handle losing that many games then we suggest they find something more appropriate to their sensibilities. Like "frag".

I would tend to not have any beef with this, if both players were noobs, shouldn't there be a similar learning curves for both, though? If you get completely hammered repeatedly and never go past the second turn, then it still ought to be indicative of one player's inability in general, no?

I have yet to win a game of Infinity. I've probably played half a dozen or more.

There are all kinds of various reasons, but I think my biggest is that everytime I've played with different units.

But I think I'll win one of these days.

I think you, and players in general, should try playing with the same list in several games. How can you learn to use some troops if you only use them once? Maybe change around your Lt. a bit or other minor changes but other wise stay with a core group of figs. Learn to play them. Then you can try new stuff and learn those.

You're quite right CDK. That's my problem, and I've hopefully solved it by setting up my core group of units. We'll have to see next time I play some games, hopefully I don't get trounced too hard.

At least you guys have been able to have some games - I've still not played!

I'm hoping there will be a better scene when I move down to Oxford.

To be fair, I haven't played a game since early January. RL has unfortunately taken over right now. Hopefully I can get back in the swing of things and show Chemical a thing or two when I have more free time.

Actually, I won my first few games. Then the group was so kind as to throw a PanO TAG rush at me.

I lost that one.

I agree that you should try to play with the same units for a while. What I did, was take the same set of basic troops (Ghulams and Muyyibs in my case) and add 1 or 2 models with rules I didn't know or understand, and then I'd learn how the models work during the game.

I agree. I played the last two games tonight and it sped up the game, I lost a lot faster!

Hey folks, took a short break there but I'm back now. Glad to see there is still some chatter here. Mathieu, that's a good point about the progression being all about gaming. What else would you like to see? I've rebooted the showcasing thread and some other fun stuff but if there are other things people would like then speak up and let's see what we can do.

I'm working on my version of a Shasvastii Tactica. The one before was pretty good but I thought it had too much "This is a good figure, this is bad". Mine is more "What to do with what you've got."

Nice one CDK, that's great news!

Did someone suggest a painting pledge thread or did I imagine that?

I just added my Shasvastii Tactics. I don't use the word Tactica because it's a stupid made up word by GW to sound Latin.
