Gw never puts if a model is discontinued on their website, they will sell you 6th ed to you up until the day 7th comes out, but my flgs was telling me this this past saturday

Rumor I have been hearing is we could be in store for a basilisk, griffin, medusa, colussus kit or some mix there of, haven't seen anything concrete, but its what I've been hearing this past sat

Better buy your Basilisks now before it becomes a $90 kit then.

Still waiting on that plastic hydra kit that was rumored about a year ago...

they are probably discontinuing it on that site cos they had very low sales for it. I never used a basalisk because of the min. range. I play on 48" by 48" boards, so the're not much use to me. in apocolypse - definately.

Forge world already make these. Why would GW bother making a plastic kit when they can ripp you off for resin?

I know GW make some daft decisions, but they aren't just going to stop making a tank.

You might want to go review the barrage weapon rules, specifically the part about how shooting within your minimum range works.

(Hint: you can still shoot inside 36".)

They just recut 2 years back or so. I doubt it's going away.

I have $20 that says they are discontinuing the current Basilisk box so that they can sell us a box with the parts to make ALL the artillery options (like they have done with ghost ark, Nephilim, and DA terminators boxes).

Odds are, however, when this new box comes out it will be $80, so if you like the big gun you'd better buy it now.

The gun/shield sprue is closing in on 20 years old, I wouldn't be surprised if it was finally getting a recut with the options for multiple guns. On the other hand, this kinda thing happens a lot and usually means nothing.

What it most often means is that they are running down stock before the next big batch comes in.

I'd be stoked if they did that. I mean, that's pretty much the same price if you decided to buy the conversion kit from forge world.

It's happened before. You couldn't buy a land raider or battle wagon for most of 2nd edition, supposedly because the moulds were broken. The land raider came back as a new kit in 3rd edition, and we didn't get a new wagon for much, much longer...

The Basilik is definitely not discontinued, it just becomes mail order only, like 57 other products as well, a.o. Catachans (Standard and Commando), Steam tank, Imperial Militia, Goblin regiment, DE Hydra, and 5 LOTR commando units.

People over at Warseer and Natfka just found out about the Basilisk (and Catachans) moving to mail order only and make weird speculations about a new Codex. So I just bump this thread so people know what's actually going on.

In b4 $98 "new" Basilisk kit.

Anyway I plan on getting one for my Iron Warriors....Better hurry with that.

Aren't the Catachans getting kinda dated though? The basilisk kit going direct only is odd, that seems like a main kit for IG. Could this just be more GW pulling away from Independent retailers?

Also, I do hope a new codex is NOT on the horizon.

Speculation, after years of knowing how GW operates. Its one of those 2 things.

I'd say they'd rather add a sprue than re-do it again. Maybe this time the kit will be complete and include the hull HB...

I just went to the US portal of games-workshop.com, and you can still buy basilisks. I don't know what you're talking about.

Yeah I understand that a combo box will be released this year along with some other models. Not entirely sure though. But this would be the way to go. Of course if gw can keep one or two things seperate for more sales, thats whatll happen.
