Death-Dealing Dark Angels Devastator

As I mentioned in my intro thread, I've restarted 40k after a long layoff. As I sold everything 8 years ago, I've started again with Dark Angels. It's an uphill battle now to get it all painted to a standard I'm happy with.

With so many things to paint, I'm aiming for "good tabletop" standard before I consider them done. My eyes aren't what they were, and I doubt I'll be winning any Golden Demons now, but as I remember my painting skills I hope I'll get back to (and even surpass) the standard I was painting at 8 years ago. All images will be in my Dakka gallery "My Dark Angels" - I will post a selection here in the thread.

So first: an overview of what I have ahead of me:

The force is as follows:

HQ: Belial, 1x Company Master, Interrogator-Chaplain Seraphicus, 1x Librarian
Troops: 2x Tactical Squads (20 Marines)
Elites: 3x Deathwing Terminator Squads (15 Terminators)
Fast Attack: 1x Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3 Bikers), 1x Nephilim/Dark Talon (to be magnetised)
Fortification: 1x Aegis Defence Line with Quad Gun

Painting done so far:

Librarian Gormyn:

Tactical Sergeants Apone and Hyx:

Deathwing Terminator test model:

Ravenwing Sergeant Hudson:

Tactical Marines test models:

Aegis Line test section:

Hope you enjoy, C&C always welcome.

Wow. On their maiden outing after being painted, my Deathwing achieved the following:

- scattered almost off the table
- failed the Split Fire test, so everyone fired at a unit of 5 Immortals + Overlord, ignoring the Doomsday Ark
- with 4 twinlinked Storm Bolters, and a twinlinked Assault cannon, killed 3 Immortals...
- ... all of which stood back up with their Reanimation Protocols
- Lost the Sergeant to the Doomsday Ark broadside
- the Immortals caused 5 wounds with 5 Tesla Carbines...
- and I failed 3 of them. With a 2+ save.

So yes, they got pwned by my 9 year old son's 85 point Immortals squad. After all that time I spent on them. Ungrateful sods.

Well you'll be glad to hear that Split Fire no longer requires a Ld test to pull off. Apparently if you throw in some Ravenwing bikers you can really cause problems for Necrons due to their lack of mobility.

**edit Nice Space Hulk termie conversions

Thanks

So I grabbed a drop pod for my upcoming semi-competitive game, but being possessed of a sickness bordering on sadomasochism, I decided it needed LEDs in it. So: a normal thruster/overhead/weapon mount...

But what's this?

Rather than crude switches, the Storm Bolter and weapon mount are wired, so when you attach the weapon it completes the circuit for the LEDs.

Booyah!

2 LEDs, a resistor and a 3V lithium coin battery.

More pics as I finish and paint it. Proof of concept op success.

Drop pod top WIP. Base black, then dark green, then zenith highlight light green and red/orange around the bottom for re-entry heat. Just needs a few details, not going to pimp this out much as I just want to get it on the table.
