Excellent Batrep! I Hope mine end up being half as good as yours.
Looks like a rather small game size. Looks like a great fast little game. I dig the bases, makes me wish I had've gone with that for the my Infinity.

Thanks! The game is relatively small, and seems to go pretty quick especially once you have the rules down. Makes something like playing through an entire 8 turn campaign in an evening/weekend totally feasible. Of course, there are supplements coming soon that will allow you to increase the size of the field, or even play solo against an ai deck controlled enemy.

Like the way things are coming along with the deadzone terrain, and the report of the game-play.
Also for a odd army with some 40k play in mind, I intend to mix my Sedition Wars Strain with the Deadzone Plague once I can get myself Deadzone, A highly adaptable and multi-mutative Infection wants to include all in it's path

DeadZone games look like they were a fair bit of fun, and the table looks really good in practice. When's W2 due to ship? August? Only a couple more months till I get mine, then.
You still need to get either a tiny scorpion or lipstick lips tattooed on that Nun with the assless chaps' butt cheeks. Then you should make that side of her your avatar!

Hahah! Perhaps you are right, when i'm feeling squirrely enough to try some freehand that small i may well take your advice
Deadzone was quite fun. Now that my sister has had her baby, i'm looking forward to things settling down for her and her boyfriend a bit (well as much as they can with a newborn around) so i can start popping back over there to resume weekly-ish game night. Not sure if deadzone will be their style or not, and i don't really care what we play, but we're gonna try it at least a couple of times.
I think they've said wave two is to ship this month, but people are really leaning toward the very bottom ass-end of this month, so US will probably be seeing it early august... as long as no delays, which honestly would be preferable if quality was in concern. Either way. Hopefully they send it by then or i'd just rather get it at Gencon. It should be here before then because they were talking about getting Mars Attacks orders at gencon (tentatively) and deadzone is due out a month earlier.
Speaking of Gencon, my tickets and badges came in, so that's nice, just have to keep track of them for a bit over a month. Yeah.. about 34-5 days left, starting to get a bit excited. Attending is gonna cost me too... Corvus Belli will be there with the new infinity starter set operation: icestorm, which is half lovely nomads that i want for sure, and half pan oceana guys who i won't mind having. Plus there's a getting started rule-set, though i think i'll still need to purchase the full v3 rules when they come out later on. They've got a couple of limited edition models that i'm not overly concerned about, but they've got some kind of bundle which may make the whole thing cheap enough to get me to bite...
This is all just at one table too, there will be hundreds supposedly, i mainly plan to visit the infinity table, mantic, reaper, maybe wotc to see whats up with the new D&D, and then whatever trips my fancy. Will also be participating in a learn to play: infinity, and one for kings of war, plus a 4 hour deadzone campaign woot.
So last weekend i arranged to trade off of a chunk of my empire and warriors of chaos stuff to get the current version infinity rulebook (which i'm currently devouring, pretty pretty pictures!) and the 3 pack of ghulam infantry, which are these guys:
They can be in the same force as my kaplans and are more or less standard infantry, the haqqislam version of my moderators. I quite like the grizzled looking dude with the knife, i'm gonna have to use some blood for the blood god and do some injuries, maybe around the face.
Sheesh though, if i get operation icestorm, especially with the preorder bonus mini and the extra two gencon specials... i'm gonna have a pretty huge infinity backlog, i've already got 20something, gencon is gonna tip me over 40 quite possibly. But come winter my dioramas will be finished one way or the other and i'll have extra time to work on them, so woot.
I'll do something eventually and post pretty pictures again, just been tired from work and crawled upon by the child after work

Give in! Come to the dork side! Buy all they shiney models!
Seriously though if you do pick up some infinity stuff remember that you're technically within driving distance for once in a blue moon gaming potential. And the starters are a good place to ... uh...start. They're priced to where you get 6 minis for around the cost of 4 individuals and they're a reasonable mix of the sub/faction in question.
I'll even have the getting started version of the v3 rules after gencon.
Wink. Nudge. Nah just kidding, don't throw your money around. I can be patient, the sexy models will wear your will down sooner or later.

Little sister...something something... white wedding... do your worst! And it's more manga/anime than cyberpunk to me. Damn, a whole urban quadrant? And you say you don't want to buy an infinity starter huh... That's a lot of terrain, probably close to what i've used already, though my total dz order was a bit larger than one of those. You'll have enough terrain with that to crampack a 2x2' area, depending on how you build it you should be able to populate a 4x4 or more sparsely fill out a 4x6. I think i'll be doing some infinity/deadzone crossovers, for when i want simpler infinity games, or more complicated deadzone missions. I may be able to use bits here or there to help out infinity conversions too... not sure. Maybe some arm swaps from rebs to my nomads and haqq, hell some of the rebs may make plausible lower tier haqq/merc models as it is. And enforcers will easily sub in as some kind of heavy. So I got my mantic order, i took a couple of scale shots for the iron ancestor compared to an aobr dread, with the jotum in the shot to give an idea of it's size as well. I'll see about popping those up here soon. Automatically Appended Next Post:
So, as you can see, the iron ancestor is quite a bit less bulky when compared to a dreadnought. When you've got them side by side in person the IA looks to have almost half the mass, but he's nearly as tall.. i think they'll make suitable counts-as, everything the dwarfs have is short. It may be possible to get some cross-compatibility going on with the arms, they can be somewhat similar, though the dreadnought has bigger shoulders.
Bit blurry, whoops, but it helps to show the size difference a bit better and shows off the metal doomstorm upgrade. I am considering adding some removable tubes to the ends of the barrels to give it that classic rifleman feel. Also, check out that heavy hailstorm cannon! The jotum is friggen huge, i'm pleased with the kit given the cost of 3 for $40, and don't forget the 25% discount i got to throw at them! This thing is kind of an odd size, it's too small for an artillery tank, but it's damn near too big for a thunderfire, unless those are also way bigger than i thought.

That Jotum is big. I thought they were a lot smaller than that. You could always keep them off to the side of the map as an objective or something, if nothing else.

The jotums are big for sure, as long as i can get it to sit straight when glued, i'll be quite happy with my trio. I'll probably try to use the jotums and iron ancestors as thunderfire cannons and dreadnoughts, if i should ever try to play 40k at some point. The IA will get deadzone rules at somepoint, soon i think, and the jotums can always be objectives or simple scatter terrain as you say. The guy just got the equivalent of somewhere around 6-8 battlezones, let the pour soul's wallet recover a little bit But we're totally here to support you if you do ever take that plunge In other news.. Supply drop! Here we have the infinity rulebook and ghulam(3) blister pack that i recently obtained from a fellow dakkafolk, i'm having a lot of fun reading through the factions and so on. Looking forward to painting the ghulam, the one with the knife is awesome but i like them all. One gets to be a doctor since they all have wp14 which makes them damn good at it for being basic infantry. They'll get to back up the Kaplans, and they'll probably get a dark grey/black color scheme to match what i'll eventually be doing for the kaplan scheme. I might have to pick up a couple of buddies to go with them, so my eventual future hafza can make them into a link team on occasion. I may look into cross compatibilitizing some of my deadzone rebs into lower tier haqq models too, either ghulam or whatever they most closely resemble. The foamcore is for the doctor who diorama that i really need to get to... The box fan i consider as a legitimate hobby purchase as it's currently keeping my office at tolerably uncomfortable rather than hellish sauna temperature... it should do the same for the garage. The casting kit was $42 after the hobby lobby coupon. I haven't got anything ready to use it but... i dunno i've wanted to try it out for ages so i'll figure something out sooner or later. Need to put some paint down today, but it'll probably have to be after the kiddo goes to bed.

Casting is fun, and useful. Do yourself a favor though and make your firs couple of casting projects simple one piece molds. There is a learning curve to working with silicone molds and resin.

Huh... that may not be a terrible idea Az.... but i'd need something that dried clear. I don't foresee myself doing anything outside of clear acrylic/whatever bases for a good while... but i could probably use some transparent bases at the 55mm size for the infinity basing changes.
I may not open the box for a month or two, or i may use it sooner, my hobby time is very unpredictable lately. I'll probably make some scatter terrain and or building signage first though, and i'll be looking heavily into things that fit the aesthetics for deadzone and or infinity.

Looking forward to see what you do with that casting kit, casting is something I've been looking into myself recently.
As for what to cast, how about making some more elaborate FF Rhino-conversion parts (maybe doors, banners, plating ect) to save you having to make each bit from scratch? PRobably not worth it for simple designs, but if you wanted something a little more detailed or complex, it might work out a bit less labour-intensive to cast rather than scratch-build.

@Az yeah something like that is entirely possible, probably will try to do some kind of space barrel or future crate even though i already have several kinds of both, just seems useful to have around. I'm also going to consider things that would be useful to make out of casting plaster, since it's considerably cheaper than casting resin seems to be... and for terrain, especially medium/large pieces, it probably shouldn't be too fragile to use. Definitely some stands built to receive some signs and adds, and maybe bits to hold up signs for buildings for their name/purpose, as long as there's a point to casting them... if the plasticard original is simple enough it will probably be just as easy to make more that way.
@ToT no problem, i think they can be found on the interwebs but scale shots can weigh in pretty heavily in my choice to buy something, so i try to make them available where possible. Yes, that seems to be what it is, all of their 60mm bases come that way that i've seen. Dreadnoughts are very chunky, blocky, and stubby... while they look a bit awkward they also look pretty tough and hard to stop if your just some poor infantry running around. I definitely like them, not sure if i'm going to sell off my dreads to buy more minis, possibly more dwarfs, or perhaps keep them and use my shiny new casting kit to craft and duplicate some bits to make the dreads more dwarfy. Like turn the 40k dreads into the irconclad ancestors or something
@Para that's not a bad idea. Especially since i'm wanting to make some dreadnought parts too. Maybe i'll make a more 3d version of the iron ancestor front to implement on my rhinos. Maybe i can make a stowage kit too, the forge father equivalent of jerry cans and shovels right?

Stowage would be a very fast and easy way to add some character to your models, and could also have use in objective markers, dioramas and general bits and bobs.
If the IA front matches up to that of a Rhino roughly, then molding a few of them is a cool idea too.

Indeed, usually a lot of helpful folk about. I've already got a couple of (potentially) good ideas rolling around, so we'll see what comes out of it once i get some time.
Since i got some work done on m diorama i was going to take a moment to either get a few infinity minis up on painting nails, or maybe clean up my iron ancestor or hailstorm cannon to get them ready for paint... but i got distracted putting more work in on the diorama. I finally got the display portion of it past the 'idea that's hurting my brain' stage, and i think i can roll out some momentum and get it done soon, leaving just the painting of the minis.
Then i'll have a couple of months of no near deadlines during which i'll get back to deadzone and infinity minis. This next round of deadzone minis... i'm seriously considering spending just as much time as i do on the infinity models, to kind of test whether i'm painting the metal infinity minis better because they're better (or maybe even metal), or if it's because of the extra time/effort. Deadzone uses even less models than infinity on average so there's no point in rushing them out.
I should also be getting a cascade of new stuff (most of it already paid for!) over the next few months. I've got deadzone wave2 supposedly shipping some time this month, mars attacks hot on it's heels, with battle systems terrain supposed to show up somewhere inbetween those, or possibly slightly after, bones 2 showing up supposedly in september, and finally dreadball xtreme showing up maybe around x-mas? Oh and infinty's operation icestorm starter box i'll be nabbing at gencon, hopefully the only thing i spend money on there... but yeah we'll see.
I'm going to have to pick and choose what gets done and what gets shelved for a while, but i guess that's a first world problem, but i'll be sure to unbox anything that i get when it's relatively fresh.

Wow, that's one heck of an ongoing supply drop! If I recall, the Countdown to Deadzone section of this blog was around 50 models... Time for 'Countdown to DBX: 200(?) Models in 5 months'?
