My brother wants to field Asterians as Wraithguard for an Eldar army, since Cyphers are pretty much the same.

Yeah, they're a bit less dour than your typical wraithguard, but similar size and aesthetic.

They look good.

Day 2 (skipped day 1) was fun, kind of a fuster cluck. Of gencon I mean. Got ice storm and mars attacks!, so that's nice. They were out of at least one of penny or the bolt so I just got the starter. I'll do a full write up of janes gully, not enough time we still aren't back to base.

A low percentage of cosplayers but still quite a few. Everything from ruroni Kenshin to Mario to a spiderman+black cat couple and even a pair of nudist beach operatives.

Lot of shops, gamesetc, the war store, a game store with a lot of close outs. Many shirts and even edged weapons to be had.

Gotta remember to get my munchkin shirt signed.

I'll type more when I get back to our lodgings, maybe dump some photos.

Man. My spirit is a bit crushed. I'm not finding any dome helmets in my mars attacks box. I can't tell if this is because they failed to produce them at all, or if my box is just defective, but missing the helmets is making me look at everything negatively. I think I'm just gonna wait to talk to mantic tomorrow before I do any kind of proper unboxing for the MA.

I've got other stuff though, gonna see about working through it to cheer myself up.

Are you sure? Have you seen an unboxing with helmets in it? I would so much rather it be a mispack than a blatant lie/betrayal of the promise to follow through with them.

Mantic seem incapable of not screwing up orders. They do it every kickstarter.

Yeah kickstarter is one thing its almost more forgivable but these boxen will be sold to first time customers too. I shall have to inquire in a few hours.

I was gonna throw some pictures up here but the internet where we are staying is apparently not particularly conducive to uploading images, 17+ minutes for 10? Usually that just takes a couple of minutes sigh. I guess I'll just inundate you guys when I get home if there's time on Sunday. I've got the gencon pics from yesterday, today still to be taken, zombie solo campaign round 1, another rules less skirmish/ photo session with some corporation marines and infinity models... gotten behind.

That is rubbish news Grim, hope you got a bag of the clear helmets today (and a freebie or two as compensation for your trouble).

If it is in your box I fear it may be in every box, one hell of an error if it is.

Well, missing domes aside, how do the MA figures look? Face details aren't all muddy, no massive mold lines, etc? Are you going to be painting yours or keeping them raw?

Mantic.......almost . They look great, especially for a board game, but they are still just floundering about. They need someone in their company to be in charge of production and oversee it better, even if that person could give a rat less about gaming. Nice haul you got at gencon. Did they still have any operation ice storms left? I know they sold out of the cosplay bolt right off the bat.

I did get ice storm and it looks to be in good order. My wife took a photo of the Bolt cosplayer and I got a picture with Angel Giarldez (or however you say it). They sold out of ice storm after I got one, probably by noon the second day.

They'll be including extra domes in my KS fulfillment , its not like they had any on them to hand out. Hopefully it was just some of the boxes, they're working on getting everything coming from one factory and lessening such things moving forward.

@Barzam I'm gonna look at them again tonight, I was a little pissy last night, so my view is skewed. The plastic is fairly bendy but not quite to a bones degree. Hot water will probably sort them all and apparently almost everything enjoys being washed before painting. Some parts that are very narrow are a bit bent.

The faces didn't look resin quality but I dunno if they were what I'd call mushy soft. Somewhere in the middle, I'll take close ups and post once I'm somewhere with better lighting.

Mold lines are mostly minimal, some almost non existent though Edwin has a large one down his chest.

I'm gonna leave them alone for now, but I will mist likely paint them eventually.


I'll post more when I can get on my computer this is too wordy for a phone. The others decided it was a good idea to stop and wait 30-60 minutes at a bar for food FML I wanna rest.

Icestorm sold out completely, before noon. 300 boxes. And all 300 blisters of Cosplay bolt and Alt-penny. Those sold out day 1. CB seriously underestimated demand :/

Tell me about it! I had that thing from somewhere around 11 am to 7pm yesterday. It gets freaking heavy after a bit, and hard to maneuver. Structural integrity is weakened, probably collapse once I get the poor thing home.

Cheers Grim, looks like a fair few mould lines on and around bases to me. The red plastic heroes look a bit softer on detail, but that may just be an optical illusion caused by the colour as the cream marines look fine.

How do you feel about the material used to make the miniatures?

The heroes look the softest. The marines look the best, martians are in between but maybe closer to the marines. The material is softer than I was expecting, it can't be the same thing my one Loka piece is made of, or if it is it's a different mix. I might have to try painting one of the softer faced heroes and see what it looks like though, could be because of the color and reflection. Ashley, maybe Deek. I think they look the worst at first glance.

It isn't the same as bones, but so far that's the closest thing I can compare it to. The minis are light and seem fairly resistant to damage from drops and being loosely tossed into the box. I haven't had a really good chance to mess with them yet. I'm probably gonna see how hot water bending works with them to fix a couple of minor things and possibly to try some re-posing on some of the duplicate martian grunts.

As a side note, the terrain seems a little different from the DZ stuff. Not sure how, maybe in the uhh... springiness of the plastic? It seems like the pieces and connectors are similarly rigid but maybe more likely to survive multiple uses and pop-outs. Feels like stuff you'd get in a 'normal' board game maybe?


About the mold lines, I feel like Edwin has an almost unreasonable amount, but everything else I thought was pretty acceptable. I probably won't bother doing anything to them until I eventually get around to painting them, they're fairly easy to ignore.

The weapons on the heroes look pretty rough. Is that just the pictures or are they that soft and muddled IRL? The marines do look great. Those heroes have me worried about Dungeon Saga though...
