The Termies are looking solid. I'm really looking forward to the updated, finished pics of them. If you;re interested in GoC, you may want to pull the trigger sooner rather than later as GW's boxed games don't seem to have a long shelf life. The game itself is supposed to be pretty good, too, from what I've seen and read.

Terminators are bigger than I used to give them credit for. I swear it was easier to paint those 10 marines...though they did have a lot of robe. I'm torn on the scourge, the new ones are wicked and cool but the old ones have a lot of their own charm.

Yeah GW box games selling out forever makes me sad. I'm really feeling the burn from that DW/harlequin set. I think I'd rather secure venoms first, eBay has a number of reasonably priced hellions from GoC if I end up *needing* them.

I have half a mind to paint up my war machine elf wizard killers as mandrakes or something. I think I'd have to sculpt some fire for them to be throwing though.

Woowoo, all done. 5 Angels Ascendant first company veterans. The AA are a PR sensitive chapter so they paint all their armor the same color like codex chapters. They totally still have the wings and pursue the fallen, they're just more subtle about it.

Not sure what to do next. Got 18 more terminators in the list but I vaguely need a break. Ghr minis are bigger than my standard and they're festooned with detail. But there isn't much left in the list beyond those.. We'll see. I wanna build towards a list but I also don't want to burn out, and any space marines that get done count as a win. Will contemplate.

I think I'm up to nearly 900 points of painted Angels Ascendant now, just guessing at some points.

They look great . I can just see them teleport in with the lightning crackling over their armor .

I say do a land raider over razorbacks, cause big and nasty.....unless your facing lasguns

They look spectacular bud. That is a great scheme you have going. As Theo said, it has a realistic vibe, can imagine them on a battlefield.

Yeah, finished Terminators look great there, Grim. You could always batch-paint the easiest parts of the next 18 Terminators piecemeal while working on something else (during drying times, etc) and then come back to them to finish them when you're in the mood.

Ok so I'm cobbling some knights together from spare DA sprue terminators. I have shields except for the leader but i think an old chaos tower shield with Gubbins would do. I was planning to use bigass grey knight swords instead of maces since my guys have kind of a sword theme but how do I differentiate the leader's flail? Different sword? I have a selection of clear maces and such from bones 3 I could use over the swords...or maybe a clear sword from there to be a not-flail?

So basically do I try to replicate the gear on the official guys, or do I give out big honkin swards to all?

I like the sword concept instead of maces. Maybe add greenstuff flames to the leader sword.

There's no real way to do a 2-handed sword on a Terminator short of buying conversion bits from Anvil or the like, is there?

You could go all Anime on it and give him a giant oversized sword , or Star Wars it up with a double sword where there is sword on either side of the pommel like Dart Maul . Or go full AoS and put his sword at the end of chains .

What about a large sword (or halberd) with flail-chains attached to the head?

I have a big see through sward from reaper bones 3 that is angel themed, matching shield. Pics for consideration later.

Paint then in some kind of translucent glowy.

Hmm yeah. A couple of my preferred bit sellers have the deathwing command squad pieced out. Just need to decide if the captain needs one different looking shield or if I want five matching shields for the knights and then use the four I currently have as extra arms in case I want to sneak a shield into the shooty squads. They've also got some arms I need. Either a left handed storm bolter to go with my custom narthecium, or a proper DW command apothecary bit and another right hand storm bolter.

Kinda wouldn't mind having a few extra storm shields honestly... a couple of the characters can take them as an option and you can always mix them into regular DWT squads to try and block TEQ-killers. May even have a thunderhammer or two laying around to go with them.

May just queue up a bits order sometime. I want some dark eldar stuff to update my guys anyway so I can just order a bunch of lots and save shipping.



Also considering to drop the land raider for something like three razorbacks, trade the psyker named character for the chaplain dude, and maybe possibly change 5 terminators into 5 company veterans to ride up with Asmodai (chaplain..i think?). The question is to load up on double chainswords for something like 5 attacks a model( 2+1 per sword +1 from Asmodai's aura) or to get a smattering of storm shields and power weapons since they're relatively cheap now.. maybe 9 points a guy, 45 if the entire squad took them. Or maybe some kind of mix... thunderhammer for the leader, two power weapons, and a couple of storm shields and chain swords. Dunno. I mean I love magnets so its not a big deal but I do like to have an idea work from.

Anyway even with shields and power weapons they'd top out at 25 points each so 125, half the terminator squad they'd re replacing. I suppose I could take another such unit.... hmm. It's not enough points for another dreadnought... Hmmm... can't decide.

Gotta say I miss not sold on that sword or shield. I think they look too dainty for giant armored space monks.

But it's so pretty and ornate and not so fierce looking. after a second look it's probably workable, especially if you can hit it with an ink wash to make it glowey like a light saber .

Yeah kinda spectral. The flail in 8e pushes overkill damage onto another model so I want something that looks like it'll take out multiple mooks.

Had a game of pulp alley. Unless neither of us can win the next two missions (triggering replays), those are the last two missions in our campaign. Presumably TNT next so I'll have to get on it.

Penultimate scenario involves floating boulders so I'm on that.

Also, managed to find 10 chainswords for Asmodai's company veteran bodyguard, should be amusing to see them put out 26 attacks.

Well they certainly wont be sneaking about with that lot reving up. And floating boulders sounds interesting.

Trying expanding foam for the structure of the rocks, may request assistance on texturing if I don't come up with something.

I will have to texture them, but this is the basic layout I'm considering for the floating rocks.

A good thick coat of PVA then some crinkled up tin foil, then a coat of PVA.

Hadn't considered foil. Was thinking about plaster cloth and spackle like my jungle hills but foil sounds like a contender.

Everything is glued, just needs surfacing and stuff like foliage. Especially vines and roots to obscure the nails. Oh and some texture on the bases to look like the rocks lifted up.

You definitely need some sort of prime coat if you do foil. Paint won't adhere very well. Maybe a Rustoleum primer would work to give you a paintable surface.

Can they do that? Equip with so many chainswords? I'm being a bit ...careful/conservative with builds from armies that are about to have new codices, because who knows what might change between now and the next month or three?

Az, a few units can. Company veterans definitely have options that allow for one in each hand and there was a FAQ answer confirming that two chainswords = 2 extra attacks.

I do have my own reservations about that option surviving our codex drop, but nearly all of my marine arms are magnetized at this point anyway. Double chainsword vets probably aren't as useful as, say, maxed out Combi plasma vets podding in...but I have points in my initial list to take the cheap melee option as a guard for Asmodai.
