The Baneblade will be second on my list to all the models I got for people for Christmas for obvious reasons.
So after I arrived at my mothers she had me work on some things for her (scanning a picture and such) so by the time I started working on my stuff I didnt have much time left.
BEHOLD! My Valkyrie!
I bought it from one of our fellow Dakkamite (is that right?), It was mostly complete though it was missing some of the landing gear and a tail fin. So I contacted out lovely and talented Cam to craft me some new fins! And this is what he sent me.
Now, I admittedly don't know what the little bits are for, but I will find a place for them. But the big ones are not only fantastic, they are so much better than GW standard.
First things first. I cleaned up where the missing landing gear is to replace it.
Using bits from ebay I repaired my gunship.
Next it was time to attach the new fins.
I will be using the liquid greenstuff to fill the gaps.
They're lined up pretty well.
Now, I dont know if I'm using these as Cam Intended, but they look soooooo kewl!
Look at that x-foil!
Here's my question to you guys. Do you think I should line these up?
Now onto the Christmas gifts.
For my friend Sarah I got a Halfling rogue mini from Reaper.
I think it looks quite good.
Then I took the bases I ordered from GW and gave one to Klicker.
Its gonna need some detail work but I feel better that its now properly based.
Then I took a magnet and glue it into one of the circles in the base.
The reason for that is THIS!.
I got one of these chest for each Mini I plan on sending out for Christmas.
I want to drill a small hole in the base and put in another magnet so that I can better assure they travel safely. The only problem with that....
The base of the chest is super thin. I'll have to get another small piece of wood as an insert to strengthen the bottom. Also they look too clean. So I took some Agrax...
...and started to brush it across the top, but I don't think it looks too good.
I think I'll just try an actual stain.
Next up, my gift for Jan and Sarah's mom, Etria (nickname not her real name). Her wizard Thurmond Wrexham Smythe III.
For my buddy Ben, I have a Klukva minis Gutz figure (since he is a huge fan of Berserk).
And for his cousin Jon, A model of McCree, also from Klukva.
And lastly, here are the DnD models with their bases.
I also have Jan's wizard, but its missing an arm and I must contact the seller about a spare or replacement.
What do you all think?

I think so too. But do you think I should line them up? Or leave them as is?
STG wrote:your putting loads of time and effort into your gifts! thats really thoughtful, i'm sure whoever your giving them to will appreciate them loads.
Miranda, Scarlet, Ben, Jan, Sarah and Etria will. I'm rethinking Jon's gift if only because he doesn't seem to give two s#!ts about anything.

Would you guys believe that I had pictures all ready to post last week and didnt?
Yes?
Well then...
Anyway! Hello all and welcome back to Adventures in Painting with Weapon!
Lets hop right into things.
I am still working on completing Christmas gifts for my friends, so that is what will be featured. My baneblade is on hold until after the holiday season.
Lets start things off with a man I call McCree.
Picked this guy up from Klukva Minis. He was given to me free after a shipping error delayed my package. The seller was super nice and the sculpt is really good. I'm definitely gonna pick up some more stuff from him.
He was originally going to be for my buddy Jon, but I don't think he really cares about overwatch and this guy wouldn't fit into his Blood Angels army.... so... I guess I will have to fold him into my Chem-Dogs. Alas.
Next up is Gutz for my buddy, Ben.
Same seller, Klukva Minis. I highly recommend them. He also fits together really well despite the giant nature of his sword.
From there we return to Klicker, whose base was looking extremely empty. Even with a coat of green paint.
So with flashlight in hand I went outside and picked through the sand for some suitably sized rocks/pebbles.
And glued them into place.
Now I know what you're thinking. They look WAY off. And I agree. So I painted them to match the stones on the base. And lo-and-behold they look quite like what was sculpted into the base.
Now it looked better, but all those gaps between the rocks were mocking me. I tried a bit of nurgle's rot mixed with antonian camoshade to try and look like swampy muck but it didn't look good (you can vaguely see it in the above picture). So I went in a different direction by mixing some white glue, ice blue and drakenhoff nightshade and slathering it all over those open spaces.
When that dried I repainted the rocks that got a little too blue, inked them with nuln oil, and applied drakenhoff nightshade to the "water".
Then I went back to Rhona who I felt was looking a little off. So I started to paint all the little bits on her and repaint her robes.
Having re-read her description I remembered she was supposed to be pale. So I based her with Rakarth flesh since she looked too tan.
Then I made a mixture of rakarth flesh, kislev flesh and skull white to try and give her some color without getting too dark. Then I added some color to her lips and some ink to her clothing. (Sorry about the picture quality, still getting used to my new phone).
Then I added a thinned down reikland fleshshade to her skin to give her some shading.
And, regretfully, I tried to paint her eyes. I will definitely need to try and fix them this coming Sunday.
Thoughts? Opinions? Criticism?

I'm back again and I have some more progress to show you!
As you may or may not recall, I had a model for my friend Jan, but it was missing an arm. Well I finally got the replacement from the company (that was very pleasant and helpful!)
So then I assembled her and she is lovely! Meet Valerie.
She is a beautifully detailed model. Big shoutout to Dark Sword Minis and their amazing work!
So I took her and the halfling thief of her sister, named Onnya, and their mom's wizard, Thurmond.
So while they were drying, I decided to fix Rhona's face.
I've decided that faces aren't my thing... So I went back to Valerie's outfit and finished the night there.
Thoughts?

Q: What are the official rules regarding specific base sizes for specific models (if any)? A: The rules assume that models are mounted on the base they are supplied with, but it’s entirely fine to mount them on whichever base you think is appropriate. Sometimes, a player may have models in their collection on unusually modelled bases. Some models aren’t supplied with a base at all. In these cases you should always feel free to mount the model on a base of appropriate size if you wish, using models of a similar type as guidance.
I do believe this official ruling from GW states that I can use Papa in my army!

Camkierhi wrote: Nice work on the gifts. Love that purple. Very nice looking model too.
Don't play so can't comment on bases, but personally I go with what the model tells me. I am very flexible with the rules though.
I asked back when I first made Pops if most players would consider him okay for regular play, the general consensus was no. This makes me very happy because he is a cool model that I want to show off.
On a different note! Guys! I went to the allergist yesterday, and he told me I need to stay in and build models more often. Like, all the time. Not... in those words per se, but... my allergy test came back and told me that I am legitimately allergic to everything that grows in my state. And dogs... and cats... horse... pretty much everything.
So! I decided that was reason enough to break out one of my crappy little folding tables and build a sentinel!
Like all of my stuff, I wanted this guy to be magnetized to better optimize it for play (and so GW doesnt get all my money). So I drilled out the area where the weapon mounts.
Then I looked to the weapons...
Snipped of the bits in the way...
Mounted magnets...
And voila! One perfectly (almost, I ended up reseating the magnets later) mounted plasma cannon!
I then repeated the process on all the weapons.
Next up! The base. I popped by Michael's while heading home from the doctor's office and picked up a little cork.
I broke it into little pieces and glued it down on the base wantonly. Then I broke my foot.
My greenstuff abilties need some work. But I think once painted up no one will pay much attention to a little bit of a messed up toe.
Then I did the rest of the legs.
Apologies for the next few photos, they rotate 90 degrees on the upload and I'm not sure why. So I began building the cab. I want to pain the interior, but I don't want it open topped I decided I would magnetize the top in place so I could pop it off and reveal the driver.
Then I put another magnet in (roughly) the same spot on the back of the chair. I ended up having to reseat this one too.
Now, this simply wouldn't ifit into my chem-dogs without a personal touch. Enter the bits I snagged months ago.
Carnifex Carapace is surprisingly hard to cut through...
But I got it eventually.
Enter my second sentinel, the one that came with all the tempestus sc- Stormtroopers and the gunship I got a bit ago.
Look at that beautiful bit of detail all nicely put in place!
But... how would they keep it there?
Hmm....
HMMM!!!!
HMMM... oh... I guess I didn't take any pictures of the piece chained in place.... whoops... Anyway! Onto the next thing. I dunno what nid this is from, but it needed a bit of green stuff to look a little more.... trophy-ish.
I pressed it into the gap.
And teased it around until it looked sufficiently gross.
Hey! Found the chain picture! There's beads of superglue holding it in place all over. After priming it I'm sure I can paint it up to look like its been welded to the carapace in those spots.
But what about the other shell you ask? Well, once I was more confident in my green stuff ability, I decided I would fill this one in too. By the way, green stuff from august is hard as gak to knead. Forewarned.
That made me sad, cuz this meant I had to knead out some more.
Twenty minutes and some sore fingertips later.
Not too shabby, especially since it will be mostly hidden by the Sentinel.
Then I glued the cab in place. I'd say its pretty much done for now and read for spraying. Sadly, that won't happen until after I get all my Christmas stuff done.
Also, I think I'll have to seat once more pair of magnets inside the cab to hold the top on tight, its a little crooked and wobbly on the dry fitting. Thoughts? Opinions? Comments? Criticism?

Nice work magnetizing the loadouts for that senitnel!
I like the chained in place carni-pace on the back, very nice touch!

Put the GS that you want to mix in warm water no packaging. This will make it easier to mix. Only takes a few seconds. Try with small amount for a trial run.

It was well after lights out in the camp. Trooper Denton of the Brakkan 53rd was on his third lap of the compound so far this night. Coincidentally he was
also running out of songs to hum. The night watch was terribly boring this far from the front. Not that Denton wanted so see the xenos scum up close, of
course. The filthy xenos were not to be looked upon. But, he was awfully curious. I mean, he was expected to shoot at them, so surely the God-Emperor would
not mind if he were to look upon them. Strictly in a tactical sense.
He let out a long low sigh as he shuffled along the perimeter. That was when he spotted it. A shadow slinking among the mechanicum tents. Denton stopped and
narrowed his eyes as he unslung his lasgun and gripped it tightly. The figure had a box or something in its grip. As he watched the shadow looked left and
right and disappeared into a large pre-fab building.
Finally! Denton thought as he rushed forward and braced himself against the wall. He checked that the safety was off, that the power cell was fully
charged, and that his torch was on. Then he took a deep breath. As he let it out he twisted, kicked open the door, and aimed into the darkness.
"FREEZE!" he shouted as he aimed his lasgun at a trio of men sitting on some up-turned crates in the center of the room. They each clutched a bottle of amber
liquid, and between them was a small crate marked 'Officer's Only' with a Departmento Munitorum brand.
"Oi! Keep it down! Ya wanna bring da Commissars down on our asses?" one of them said as he took a big swig from his bottle. The others chuckled, shook their
heads and resumed their drinking as well.
Denton faltered and the muzzle of his lasgun dipped a bit. "I... what? What's..." He raised his gun again and aimed it at the soldiers once more. "What are
you doing in here? This is a restricted area!" he said, alternating aiming at each one of the trio in turn.
"Settle down, boyo. We's jus' havin' a nice drink. Care to join us?" another of the trio said.
"N-no! Put the bottles down! This is a restricted area and that," he said, shining his torch on the crate, "-is for officers only!"
"C'mon lad, don't be a buzzkill." said the largest of the three. "Ain't no one gonna miss one case of amasec. Besides, me and the boys here had a rough
couple'a weeks at the front. Why not cut us some slack?"
The barrel of his lasgun dipped again.
"Th-the front?" he asked, sounding like a curious child. "You've been at the front?" The big man smiled and nodded, and Denton's lasgun lowered a little
more. "W-what's it like?" The big man smiled and, with one arm, hauled over another crate.
"Aren't you the eager pup." he said as Denton hesitantly moved over to take a seat. "Sit yerself down, grab a bottle and we'll swap stories, ya?"
*****
Denton was on the verge of tears with laughter. He wiped at his eyes and lifted the bottle to his lips again to take another swig as the big man continued
his story.
"So's, me and the boys here are in our Sentinels, and we just says 'frag it' and charge. Our lascannons were half out of power and those Carnifexes were
healing almost as fast as we could blast'em." said the big man. Who had he introduced himself as? Volden? Or was Volden the one sitting across from him?
Whatever, it wasn't that important. No, maybe that was Kryztanten. "An' I swear by the God-Emperor himself, I saw them Carnifexes gak themselves." Volden
reached over and clapped his buddy on the back roughly. "Ol' Zyndec here tackled one to the ground and blew its head off with the last of his lascannon
shots."
Zyndec mock bowed, complete with an elegant twirl of his hand at the wrist. "T'weren't nothin'." Denton gave the man his due applause, spilling more than a
little of his drink in the process. I looked down at the stain on his normally clean uniform and frowned.
"I think I drank to mush..." he slurred. Volden laughed heartily and clapped him on the back, nearly knocking him off of his seat.
"Nonsense, the night's still young. There's still more drink to be had and more stories to be told, pup."
"Well..." Denton said as he tried to focus really hard, "...one more couldn't hurt." He brought the bottle to his lips only to discover that it was empty. He
tilted it over and gave a shake before frowning. "Wish I could see and do the things you guys do." he mumbled as he gestured for Volden to hand him another
bottle. He was too drunk to notice the smiles the others were giving him.
*****
"TROOPER DENTON!"
Denton jerked awake and blinked his eyes blearily.
"S-sorry guys, I jus-"
"Trooper! What is the meaning of this?!"
Denton blinked some more and peered up at the figure standing over him. The tall, angry looking figure that was wearing the same uniform as his boorish
commanding o- oh gak...
"C-c-captain Langstrom!" Denton said as he scrambled unsteadily to his feet. "S-sir, we were just-"
"We trooper?!" the Captain barked.
"Yes, sir. W-" Denton said as he twisted to indicate the friends he'd made last night. The friends who were nowhere in sight. He felt his stomach lurch and
he turned to look into the angry red face of his captain. Langstrom's hand lashed out and grabbed Denton roughly about the collar and he started dragging him
from the building.
"I knew you were a worthless lout, trooper," he barked as hauled Denton away from the supply building. A small audience began to form as his captain dragged
him through the camp while berating him loudly. He touched upon his upbringing, his lack of willpower and even mention a lack of faith in the God-Emperor.
After several minutes they arrived at command tent and he was roughly deposited in a folding chair set before a large table. "Normally," his captain
continued, having finally pausing long enough to take a breath, "such gross disregard would be met with death." Denton blanched and his stomach gave another
violent lurch. "However, you are able-bodied if grossly stupid. Lucky for you there is a penal legion deployed on his world. Effective immediately you will
be folded into their ranks and I will never see you again." The captain stamped several sheets of paper with what seemed like more force than necessary and
handed them to Denton. "Trooper, take this garbage back to your camp, immediately." A large, meaty hand clamped down on Denton's shoulder and he tensed.
"Sho thing, Captain." said a very familiar voice. Denton whipped around and stared up at the smiling face of Kryztanten.
"Welcome to the Chem-Dogs, pup."
That was when Denton threw up.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And also, because tis the season.
'Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the house,
No food was a-stirrin',
Not even a mouse.
Stockings were hung round
Dad's neck like a tie,
Along with a note that said,
"Presents or die."
Children were plotting
All night in their beds,
While the wife's constant whining
Was splitting his head.
But daddy had money
This year in the bank,
Then they closed up early,
And now dad's in a tank.
All of a sudden,
Santa appeared,
A sneer on his face,
Booze in his beard.
"Santa," I said,
As he laughed merrily,
"You do so much for others,
Do something for me."
"Bundy," he said,
"You only sell shoes,
Your son is a sneak thief,
Your daughter's a floose."
"Ho ho," Santa said,
"Should I mention your wife?
Her hair's like an A-bomb,
Her nails like a knife."
He climbs up the chimney,
That fat piece of dung,
He mooned me two times,
He stuck out his tongue.
I heard him exclaim,
As he broke wind with glee,
"You're married with children,
You'll never be free."

Where's these pics you promised?
Uhhh... well, you see...
Right here.
So here are the goodies I picked up on Black Friday.
Picking up where I left off, here is Valerie.
I started here off by painting some druchii violet onto the gem at the end of her staff, which was just the white spray coat.
Then I took some Balor Brown to paint her golden tresses.
Then I added some brown to the rest of her staff. As well as some copper on the fixings or whatever they are.
As well as some around her waist.
I also added some gold to her bangle.
Then I painted the things around her hips Screamer Pink and added yellow glaze over the hair.
Next, a TON of Druchii Violet onto the robes.
And while she dried, I moved onto Gutz.
First up, time to metal up his armor.
Then I added a bit of black to the clothing.
Time to add a little Steel Legion Drab to the leather.
Then I gave him some skin.
Lastly I added some brown to the details on his arms.
Then it was back to Valerie where I picked out a few more details before calling it a night.
That was last week.
THIS WEEK I started with the some chests.
I got these to ship all these wonderful minis I've been painting across the country to their proper owners. But they look kinda bland (save the two I tested this goop on). What goop?
This goop.
Its actually white vinegar that I poured over a piece of steel wool. And it WAS clear. The longer it sat it turned black.
So with some time, a towel I didn't care about destroying (stained beyond fixing) and some gloves, I proceeded to rub it into the wood.
On the interior I am going to make small pillows and hot glue them into the base and top to make sure they're nice and secure. It will also hide where the stain wouldn't affect the wood due to glue.
Next up, back to Valerie. Her face was lacking some detail so using my smallest brush I painted the whites of her eyes and added some pink to her lips. But I realized that I had nothing smaller to do pupils. But to my luck, she's a wizard. I cracked open my pot of Soulstone Blue and gave her eyes and the palm of her hand a coat.
I think it looks great.
Then I went back to Gutz and started picking out the little details.
To finish him up I glued on his coat and bathed him in Nuln Oil really make him look like he's been through hell.
To finish up the night, I put a nice bit of 'Ardcoat on Valerie's gemstone.
Well? What do you all think?
