Subject: Endings that are disturbing if you think about them.
Ok, so what endings from media are really disturbing if you think about it a little. Like ones that want you to feel happy or sad.
But when you think about a little it gets really disturbing or depressing.
So obviously there will be spoilers in it.
Mine is the recent Mama.
Spoiler:
Ok, so the girls in the film have a ghost of a dead women who acts as their mother following them around. The live with their uncle, But the problem is the aunt is contesting their parental rights. Near the end the ghost kills the Psychologist that was helping the girls(his body isnt showed) She also possesses the aunt and kills her(who reported ealier that she thinks the girls are being abused). Near the end the ghost takes the youngest of the girls with her, while the oldest stays with the uncle and his girlfriend. Everyone in the theater cried, even the group i was with. It was a happy ending. Until i thought about it. The uncle has to go back to civilization with only one girl and the psychologist and aunt missing(possibly found dead.) He would be made to look like a psychopath who killed the aunt and psychologist because they where conspiring to take away the girls from him. And he cant really tell them a ghost did it can he? he is royally screwed
So what does dakka got?

A schoolboy arrives at a boarding school after her mother marries again, and then realizes the school is full of psychopaths. He then goes on to take over various cliques, beat people up, etc.
In the end, he ends up releasing two people from a mental asylum, assaulting an urban fort, beating people to near death with lead piping in a chemical plant and then fighting a complete sociopath on scaffolding and slamming them through several layers of scaffolding.

The end of Sinister. On phone, can't do spoilers. The end of Se7en. And how about Identity? Huh...I just named about 50% of the decent horror movies out there. And yeah, the ending for The Mist was great. Far more messed up than the book.

At the end the snowman is presumed to have melted (died). But there is still snow on the ground. The snowman didn't melt he left!
Speaking of Raymond Briggs and disturbing endings...
That bloody cartoon has been dormant in my memory for years. I don't think I've thought about it since school, and even then, the entire class wanted to forget it. Why? Why would you make me remember the single most disturbing cartoon in history? I'm going to cry myself to sleep tonight, then dream about nuclear fallout.
Also, on topic, the ending of Fight Club (the book, not the film) always makes me weird out a little.
Spoiler:
The narrator, or 'Joe' as some people call him, is in a mental asylum, he's a mess, he wants to stay in there. But people who work there, keep whispering to him "We eagerly await your return, Mr. Durden." and stuff like that.

The last man standing kills everyone, including his son, because they think they are doomed and it turns out they were mere seconds away from being rescued.

Such a horrible ending. I hate endings like that. Just like that Descent movie. Mind you, it wasn't a particularly great movie before the ending, but after? I wanted to hurt the guy who directed that pile of gak.

Ain't that the truth. My buddy watched the first 5 minutes of the copy he got me, not realizing that the movie started out with a family being hung and they all stop twitching one after the other. He was horrified. Now he wants to borrow it back I still think it's one of the better horror movies of this age. Then again, it's in competition against...what? Paranormal Boretivity?
