Subject: Best way to make a resin mold?

Does anyone have any links to web pages for molding with out air bubbles? Also, how much does it cost on average to build a mold for models? Im trying to make alternate models for 40k, and while I can work with other materials, resin is the most consistant. Also, can anyone recommend a good resin that is as light weight as possible?
I have limited mold making experience, just with liquid silicon and plaster for terrain pieces, but I'm very good at learning quickly.

Smooth On makes everything you need. Their molding silicone is usable without evacuation, if you mix it carefully, but obviously vacuuming the air out of the material is the best thing to do.
They also make an amazing resin called Smooth Cast, which is very light and thin when liquid, but it is a little brittle when cured.

I use mold max 30 and smooth cast 310. To do it right you must degas, so you have to make vacume chamber. You will also need a preasure chamber to get rid of all the bubbles. You will also need a good air compresser. Mine will run at 95 psi for the vacume pump. All in all I would say you could get started for around 400 to 500 bucks as long as you don't need to buy a air compreser.

There are some things you can do to mitigate air bubbles in your mold, but your best bet is to build/buy a vacuum chamber. This way you can degas the silicone, thus eliminating many of the air bubbles and making for a nice smooth poor.

Making molds is not illegal, smart one.

An alternative to the vacuum chamber is to build a vibrating table or frame. There is a nice tutorial HERE.
PS: In my (few) attempts at resin casting, I never had much problems with bubbles in the silicone but quite some issues with bubbles in the actual resin casting.

There is nothing ilegal in what I do. If I was to copy someone else's work and sell as original, which I do not. Then yes it would be ilegal.
Bubbles in the casting resin mostly comes from not having enough or vents in the wrong place. Assuming that you are pressure cssting.

How do you place vents? Also, are models made by 3 d printing compatible with the process of creating a mold?
Im thinking of using smooth it plastic. Does anyone have any good/ bad experiences with it?
