Well fans of the wings of glory series might like this. A naval game set in the Napoleonic Wars. 1/1000 scale

Sails of Glory is an "Age of Sail" tactical ship-to-ship miniature game, inspired by the best-selling Wings of Glory system.

After successfully publishing these two games in 2012, we're now ready to launch our next game and miniature line, Sails of Glory, and we've decided to fund this new project using Kickstarter.

The mechanics of Sails of Glory are inspired by the excellent "maneuver deck" system used in Wings of Glory. For a long time, we've been discussing with the authors about the possibilities of the system, and how to develop it beyond its use in Wings. Then, we realized how well it could be adapted to naval wargaming, and the idea of Sails of Glory was born. We also realized that assembled and painted ship models to use in a miniature game do not exist on the market - and we wondered how much more accessible naval gaming would become if we were able to create beautiful small ships, ready to play out of the box.

That was our starting point, back in 2011. Since then, the game system of Sails of Glory has been carefully designed to accurately represent battles at sea between the large sailing ships of the past centuries. And just like we did for Wings of Glory, we engineered the production of fully assembled and painted ship figures, highly detailed, to use as "playing pieces" for the game.

The first series of Sails of Glory, which we are funding with this project, will be set in the Napoleonic Age, an iconic period for naval wargaming. Who has not heard of Nelson, Trafalgar, Abukir, and HMS Victory?

If the game is successful, in the future we plan to extend Sails of Glory to cover other historical periods and conflicts, such as the Age of Discovery, the Middle Ages and ancient times.

I would be very pleased if this game stimulated interest in the period. The ships could easily be adapted to any set of Age of Sail rules.

The only sad thing is that existing ranges of Napoleonic ships are 1/1200 scale so these will be incompatible.

I don't like the cost to ship to UK but I suppose it will come into the shops here eventually.

Hopefully the Spanish, Dutch, etc. and minor navies like Americans will be added in the long run.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I hope the ships won't break when you try to remove them from the box like the planes did with wings of glory.

How will these scale with Dreadfleet?

If you have Dreadfleet, measure some ships and post the measurements.

I have the scale plan book of the Bellona and can work out its dimensions in 1/1000 scale. We can compare them.

Bellona being a 74 is a small battleship and it is one of the ships they are planning for an early release.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The Bellona is 168 feet long on the gun deck so the model will be about 2+ inches long considering the stern windows and the beak, etc, then there will be the bowsprit.

Already at $60k, impressive speed I must say

Canadians get better shipping btw in an update

$ 7 instead of $ 15 for "Gunner" rewards;
$ 12 instead of $ 25 for "Marine" rewards;
$ 25 instead of $ 50 for "Lieutenant" rewards;
$ 30 instead of $ 60 for "Captain" rewards".

If you are a Canadian retailer, you can also pledge for "Admiral of the Fleet" with a $ 50 shipping cost.

It's called a display base. A proud tradition in exhibiting one's beautiful ship models.
I'm glad it's at least waterlined ...

Same here. I was very tempted by this but by the time I added on the already reached addons I was up to $76 for postage (given its 40 days to go I can see a load more extras being available which will push up the postage massively). I can't see how that cost can be justified at all even with the recent increase in US postage costs (VAT will also be a killer as they charge VAT on postage cost on top of the parcels value). Given that its am italien firm I would have hoped they could have been able to organise at least a small shipment delivered directly to the office in Italy to reduce the massive postale changes.

Which means: Except for the KS-only ships you will get everything cheaper when normal LGS get the product later.

That's the reason I will probably pledge only for the KS Ships and then wait for the rest to pickup in my LGS.
I've waited really long for prepainted napoleonic ships, this will come in handy for a certain whh ruleset

Fow: 5000 Points+ US Army
40K: 4000 Points+
And many more smaller forces in the cabinet...

The ships are reasonable, but the gigantic bases spoil it for me.

For those who haven't been keeping up with this kickstarter, they've made the international shipping much more reasonable. Check out the update here:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1402889231/sails-of-glory-miniatures-ship-combat/posts/445396

Basically, if you want to get the Lieutenant or Captain level rewards, and add $40 worth of extras to your pledge, then you only end up paying $20 for international shipping.

They've also added quite a bit of extras to different reward levels. You can see a summary of what is in each level in this pdf:
