or Combi-Bolters if you're facing chaos, possibly the most annoying thing ever?

It is just you.

I find that an enemy unit, with camo cloaks, out of Line of Sight, in area terrain that is holding an objective and they keep going to ground for a 2+ cover save when you indirect fire them possibly the most annoying thing ever. In my experience.

For me it's slapping a 3++ invulnerable on a 2+ save, then giving the same model an upgraded Powerfist (Thammer)

That was just a touch much

I play DE and Orks, mainly. Stormbolters have been chewing my troops up and killing my vehicles on occasion for years.

It's just like in fantasy when you fight the enemy general with yours and it's his bloody horse with it's one str 3 attack that is getting wounds through.

A drop-pod is like getting shot with a bus from outer space.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I always do that. My knights with general couldn't kill skink that killing blow until the horse stepped on him

That's because the melta guys are aiming by instinct for where a sane man would put the fuel tank, whereas the bolters are shooting for the pilot and hitting the tank he's sitting on...

My friends toss everything at my Oblits: lascannons, missiles, meltagun blasts, you name it.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, has killed them more often than empty drop pods plinking at them with a storm bolter every single turn. Then again, I suck at rolling 2+ saves in general, but still.

When you only have so much high-quality fire, you usually don't want to waste it at stationare models that are not even worth anything in most mission scenarios. And then said models start to kill you back....

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

As a drop pod player, I feel like my Drop Pods very, very rarely do anything. When they do it's always a pleasant suprise, but it's extremely uncommon for me. I imagine it feels worse if it happens to you, since it's so unlikely and so disheartening.

I actually cheer for my opponent when they manage to both remember to shoot drop pod storm bolters and when they actually manage to hit something.

It's stupid, but when you get that wound and it dies... it's not so stupid anymore

It's kinda sad, but my Drop Pod is more Venerable than the Venerable Dreadnought that usually occupies it. To date it's killed Lysander, Vulkan, Logan Grimnar, Abaddon, Ghazghkull and countless other non-SC HQs. Fear the Storm Bolter!

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Its always the guns you least expect that do the most. One of the guys at my club swears by heavy stubbers. When playing guard you expect to lose men like flies anyway though.

I used to always put a second storm bolter on my rhinos. Then again, that was back when my rhinos ignored cover, ehe.
