So since he has no BS its confirmed that his 2 shooting attacks as well as the oops shooting attack that targets himself can no longer be used.ok,got that.

So what happens when he rolls a 1,2 or 3 when determining his power for that turn?.Does he simply reroll untill getting either a 4-6(effectivly making his power chart a d3 list) or is the 1-3 roll used yielding a "nothing happens" result and he can choose to reroll it or just stick with that for the turn?

Im gonna use him in a few fights and see how it goes.I dont really need the shooting attacks as I use IG allies and actually its kinda nice not having to reroll that stupid self inflicted frazzel when it comes up

In short, GW made a mistake and don't know how to fix it.

Unfortunately, it's still a d6 with a reroll. meaning that you wouldn't benefit from a roll of 2 or 3.

Also unfortunately, the roll of 1 still affects you as it isn't a shooting attack. It's an effect that doesn't target a unit, you don't roll to hit or scatter.

It really is broken. Making Zogwort a very bad choice indeed.

You don't do anything per the FAQ you roll something that can't happen that's it. Zog has basically been nerfed down to using just his curse or being used in CC.

The FAQ is poorly worded. If you read it as more restrictive than it is, then go ahead.

He naturaly gets a reroll for his power, for being a warphead. I read the question as asking if he got to reroll until he got a power that he can use.

Getting a roll of a 2 or 3 wouldn't disallow his normal reroll. But hey, if you want to read it like that, have at it. It's an obvious mistake and should be treated as such.

The roll of a 1 is not a shooting attack.

Actually a 1 is a shooting attack. The last line tells you so as it is resolving Frazzle. The FAQ actually states you cannot reroll it. I don't play it that way because he gets a natural warphead reroll and I believe they meant he cannot roll till he gets a power he can use, not that he cannot reroll with warphead.

Errata'ing him to BS1 would seem the obvious solution...

Pffft Why would they do anything obvious or easy?

Yeah, thats pretty much how I was thinking it would work. And I play him with 1 being a shooting attack too.

Thnx for all the responces!

Here's the FAQ from GW. play it or ignore as you see fit.

Q.Which Weirdboy psychic power is a psychic shooting attack?
(p37)
A. Frazzle and Zzap (though they include a few exceptions to
the normal shooting rules, as specified in their description

You can call all weirdboy powers shooting attacks if you want. GW only considers Frazzle and Zzap as shooting attacks.

You resolve it as Frazzle because the effect doesn't shoot anywhere, it errupts out of his body into the guys around him. He doesn't direct it. If you and your friends want to play it like that, that's fine.

So you resolve it as Frazzle, which is a shooting attack... But it's not a shooting attack?

IF they do not want to errata it to BS:1 because it is too easy, they should errata him with a BS:7 with -6 to his BS when shooting.

Due to the way they worded it you are using Frazzle. Just because it doesn't move doesn't change that fact. If they had said that it resolved with the same profile as Frazzle then it would not be a shooting attack.

Or do as I do, talk to your friends and ask if it's okay to play Zoggy as was intended back when the codex was written: able to use the shooting attacks that are autohits anyway.

After all, 6th edition removed that ability by accident (He was able to fire for two edition), so should have reduced his point cost or made another adjustment, they didn't... He's the best psyker the orks got, frag it!

Yes, It works much like the perils of the warp. Just because it causes harm doesn't mean that it shoots.

The exact wording is. The energies raging through the Weirdboy go out of control, causing the heads of those nearby to explode. Resolve the Frazzle psuchic power detailed below with the template centered on the weirdboy himself.

In this case the template shows the limited area affected around the Weirdboy. He doesn't shoot anything, his head explodes.

Its's fine though, play it like you want.

Personally I would just play it that he is BS1 for the purposes of his psychic powers. Of course, I would also allow a Broodlord who rolled a Witchfire attack the same liberty, if it automatically hits. If not I would allow the player to roll again.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Brood lords would be amazing if that's what happened.

That's the best way to play it.

While I would also be cool with letting Zogwort use all his powers, Broodlords are a different situation. They aren't actually losing anything because of their BS 0, they're just not gaining as much from the BRB powers.

They are losing the ability to cast anything if you roll 2 witchfires - which is relatively common.

You don't have to roll on the table though. They come equipped with 2 perfectly good powers.

Other psykers got a sweet new bicycle to ride for 6th Ed Christmas, Broodlords got a lump of coal, but Zogwort had his favorite toys taken away by Krampus.

If they gave him BS1 or FAQ'd it so that BS0 models could still use psychic shooting attacks that autohit he would be very viable. I'd use him quite often, i love the weirdboy powers but the weirdboys always feel like they lack something, Zoggy fixes that exceptright now hes worthless because of bad wording.

Yea, his curse only affects ICs (really wish it was just Characters in general so it could target Tyrants ) but unless youre against Nidz thats 1-2 targets you could potentially negate without even doing anything other than not using a Weirdboy power that turn. Unless the HQ was on his own and able to be focus fired to hell and back, i would gladly sac a Zzap chance to try and squig a 3-4 wound model thats quite lethal in melee (and usually are). Squigging them makes them easier than a Grot to kill and lasts forever.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

The arguement to that FAQ though is that both Frazzle and Zzap are PSA that autohit. So there's no need to roll to see if the attack hits the target. So in theory, Zog should be able to use those abilities despite having a BS0 by using RAI. Because honestly, how could he be the "Greatest Wierdboy of All" (Line 1, pg 61, Ork Codex) if he cannot use 2 of the 6 wierdboy powers.

Interestingly enough; if you plug Old Zog into your army list on Army Builder (which uses all GW rules and FAQs I might add) it pumps him out as being able to use all of the WierdBoy psyker powers. Just sayin'

Take in to account this FAQ (and the rules for Zero Level Characteristics):
Q:What happens if a model with BS0 takes a SnapShot? Do they count as having a BS of 1?(13)
A: Models with BS 0 cannot make any form of Shooting attack – see the rules for zero-level characteristics on page 3.

And army builder is a great tool, but isn't always reliable when rules are concerned. It really wouldn't say if he couldn't use it.

The more important part is "Models with BS 0 cannot make any form of Shooting attack"
Even though it hits automatically, it's still a form of shooting attack, therefore not allowed.
