There are so many different editions of the IA books, and being as expensive as they are I can't feasibly just go buy all of them (some of them are entirely obsolete now, aren't they?). Does anyone know which one has the most recent rules for LR Conquerors? Or even better, does a table/database exist that shows which book contains the rules for which models?

There was a downloadable pdf from forgeworld containing an updated Death Korps list for 5th ed that had the rules for conquerors in its heavy support section, though I don't have a link for it. Scratch that, I found it with a quick search http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/k/kreig.pdf. I don't know if it's still there; I'm on a phone and can't download it.

And be sure to get the FAQ from FW's downloads page. There's a typo fix for the Conqueror that brings it from "worst unit in the entire book" up to merely "worst Leman Russ variant". It's still utterly useless, but if you really want to use one anyway the correct rules will at least minimize your chances of failing.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

What was the change, correcting its lack of slow and purposeful? But yeah, conquerors are bad.

No. That is still gone, from all Leman Russ types (and replaced by the Heavy rule for all non-Conqueror types). The typo in question is that the as-printed gun stats in IA1(2nd edition) were STR 7 AP 4, the 3rd edition stats. The FAQ replaces it with STR 8 AP 3 like the 5th edition update had.

so why is that so awful? I've only just learned the horrible truth that Lumbering Behemoth is no more (damn you, GW...) and it seems to me that the conqueror is a decent replacement for the LRBT.

Has the same armour values, and all the same weapon options. It can move much further than the LRBT if you ever need it to (potentially 18" if you're on a pinch). THe only downside I can see is that it has a smaller battle cannon, but that is somewhat mitigated by it being doubly as accurate with the ability to re-roll it's shot (via coaxial). To top it off, it is 30 points cheaper.

I'm not seeing the "worst Russ variant ever" here. Is there something that I am missing?

That's older than the Imperial Armor 1, Second Edition. You'll want that book for the most current rules for the LR Conqueror.

Thanks for pointing out which book I need. Why the conqueror hate, though?

Does anyone have any experience using them?

Basically, since it doesn't have the heavy rule, it can move around like a normal vehicle, but this is what that means;

It can only fire 2 weapons if it moves 6'', rather than everything if it's a normal Russ. Its main gun is not ordnance, however, so it doesn't reduce other weapons to snap firing, but it's only a small blast, and doesn't get the 2d6, pick the highest thing for hitting vehicles. It can move 12, but can only snap fire, and can move flat out. Basically, it can move a lot quicker than other russes, is cheaper, but has greatly lower firepower.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
