Liking the all black van Saar. I think I'll have to try that with my dreamforge miniatures and use them as proxies.
i just scored a huge lot of necromunda bulkheads and buildings on eBay this week. (3 sets of necromunda and 2 sets of outlanders, 124 bulkheads added to my 60 or so). So I'm really excited to get my brother in law to start playing. Also just got my supply drop from I plastic supply, 96 pieces of plastic card to replace the card stock plans.
Really lost track that the 20 year anniversary is coming up. Getting married and starting a family took me out of the gaming for the longest time. On a side note went out to dinner with the family on Friday night and felt really old when I noticed that the drinking age sign above the bar said anyone born before xxxxxxxxx may be served. It hit me that's when I graduated high school I'm getting old

IMO, painting the Van Saar black is a cool idea. Because black is pretty sneaky, and may be realistic, which I gather is a big factor for you.
Black is not just black tho, and while the Van Saar ganger might be wearing black gear, it will make for a boring MODEL, if you just leave it under-coat-spray black. there are many many ways of painting and highlighting black, and making it look awesome.
Undercoatspraycolouered IMO is not a great look, it simply looks unfinished. All/mostly black can look awesome, but undercoatspray doesn't.
If you are feeling very lazy you could paint it dark grey, give it a lighter drybrush and 1-2 washes of black GW wash.

Oh man, this is a fun log! These days I am much more interested in smaller unit games and Necromunda is definitely a favourite for me. I particularly like those terrain pieces, they look excellent (and also relatively straight forward, which serves to inspire).
I don't think these Van Saar are purely undercoated black though right? It looks like they have a highlight to them but the photograph is washing that out somewhat...
I have tried a drybrush of Adeptus Battlegrey, then Codex Grey and a Badab Black wash in the past myself.
More updates please!

@ Theophony- Nice haul on those Necromunda sets. There's no such thing as too many bulkheads, just too little time. And I get you on the whole "born before this date" thing, but we're still in it and it beats the alternative ( ) for sure. I checked your profile and didn't see a Necromunda or Terrain thread. Hmm. I must have overlooked it. I'll go check again soon.
@ JensDK- I agree with you about the 'based black and done' thing. I'm going to use some semi-gloss on a few things that would be 'real world' shinier, such as the composite stock on his shotgun and all of the protective pads (knees, shoulder, etc) on his uniform. I'm also going to do some different shades that accentuate shadows and wear so the model won't look completely flat. Here are a few online examples I found:
...and here's a model that I painted a long time ago:
Not much to share today. Started work on the bases I'm making for my Van Saars. Not sure if I like them yet, and starting to think I'll have to change the techniqe if I do. Not a bad idea, just needs a bit of a tweak.
I've also been doing a bit of work on my Redemptionists between other things I am doing. I know the red is really eye-popping bright, but it matches the work I did on my other Redemptionists a long time ago and I'd rather maintain continuity than start over.
New stuff:
Old stuff:
I got two games in llast Wednesday. First game was 'Hit and Run'. It was a brutal game. I 'won' but I had two Juves die on the Serious Injuries chart after the game, and ktbb lost a Ganger. The Serious Injury chart has been incredibly unkind to both of us so far. I also captured one of her Juves. Since ktbb is still new to the game I offered he the opportunity to play a Rescue Mission instead of ransom or sell of the Juve. I rolled only 2 sentries and she rolled 4 rescuers. I randomly wandered away from the Juve and she was snatched up with no problem at all, not a single shot was fired.
I didn't take any pics of the Rescue game but I took a few of Hit and Run. This was the general setup. It was on a 30" x 30" table because the other 1/2 of the table was being used by my wife for her crafting stuff and I didn't want to set up the 4X4 anyway.
More modeling coming as it happens, new WIP on my Terrain thread, and hopefully a full battle report next Wednesday.

Not much in the way of progress, my miniature time (real shocker here) has been taken up by terrain still. But I have a bit of work to share, even if it is just a conversion. I have been messing around w/ my Redemptionists more (I have a feeling I'm going to just wind up playing them) and converted a Cawdor w/ Lasgun to a Shotgun:
Looking at it now (close up) makes me think I need to tear it apart again and strip this model.

@ graven- It looks mutated because the paint is about a mile thick. He's going to take a bath this weekend.
@ nathanie1- I like the Cawdor models for the incredible versatility. I've used them in my Genestealer Cult, Redemptionists, my IG renegades (same IG rules, just pretend to be 'bad guys'), Cultists in 6th Ed, and of course House Cawdor. That's why I have so many of them. And thank you for the compliments on my board. I have a LOT of work to do but overall I'm much happier with it than I was before.
@ Theophony- I'm going to pull the model apart and clean it up this weekend. I really should have done that in the first place anyway. And since he'll have a fresh start I'll consider his new role- rejoin the psychotic Redemption, or head back to his slightly less psychotic Cawdor buddies.
We played another game Wednesday night, this time it was Scavengers. I had only 4 models in this game due to both my Juves getting killed (yes, killed, 11 and 14 on the Serious Injury chart) and rather go to the Trading Post w/ my remaining uninjured Ganger (the other one went out but had a full recovery) to hire some new Gangers I collected income instead so I'd have a few more credits.
We rolled 5 Loot counters. ktbb placed 3, I placed 2. Apparently she forgot I have Vents so 3 of the 5 wound up on upper levels. I deployed my Heavy Stubber as normal and at the end of my first turn had my 3 remaining models pop up directly on the counters. My plan was to haul the counters back to a consolidated area and then concentrate on shooting at her from a distance in hopes that she would Bottle and I'd win (as there was no way I'd survive trying to gather the other 2 Loot counters).
On her turn (no monster) she gathered 1 Loot counter on her turn and close din on the 2nd available, and was also moving up on my Leader and another 2 gangers. On my next turn my shotgun pinned the model closest to my Leader and my Heavy had a clear shot at a ganger. Hit, rolled 5 hits on Sustained Fire dice, 5 wounds, out of action. 1 more for a bottle test!
She spend the next turn a Juve fight off some nasty underhive beast and the rest of her models moved into position. A Juve ran and moved up within charge range for next turn. That also put her within short range for my Laspistol. Her Gang Leader picked up the remaining Loot counter and ended her turn.
My turn. I moved more models back, and instead of running my Ganger away from close combat range I decided to blast at the Juve instead. I needed a 2+ to hit, rolled a 1. Ugh. The rest of my gang moved back toward the table edge again into fortified positions.
On her turn the Juve charged me. I'll skip the rest of the gang as all that matters is the Juve beat down my Ganger and took him out. Beginning of my next turn I Bottled. Lost AGAIN!
End of game we both rolled 'captured' for our out of action gangers and we agreed to a friendly swap. It was wicked late by this time so we decided to finish up the after-action stuffs this weekend.
We're also going to roll up 1 new gang each as her Eschers are starting to beef up a bit and we both agree that we need to change things up a bit rather than start playing unbalanced games.
I'm unsure what I want to play. Redemptionists are a slam dunk but I've never played Ratskins or Spyrers (as a gang) before. I might go w/ one of those. She has no idea what she wants to play. We'll figure it out this weekend.
Here are a few pics I took during the game. Not many 'action' shots, just terrain shots.
More coming soon, thanks for reading.

So, did anyone here win it? Haven't seen any bragging so I'm guessing not. Went for $157. What a steal.
Ok. Small update. I did get a couple things worked on, most of it is on my Terrain thread but I wanted to share a couple terrain pieces here that I'm writing a scenario game for.
Here's my Guilder supply caravan:
With Hired Gun security:
and here the security checkpoint for the Trading Post it is going to:
Pulled all of my 'random scenery' bitz out the other day and set them up. Here's the collection so far. Someday I might play a game w/ just these:
Actually, after looking at that pic I realized I have some key items missing. Huh. I'll take a look and figure out where they are and post a new pic later.
Here's a few shots of the most recent game. it was a bloodbath. We played Gang Fight and it was brutal. ktbb22 lost 5 of her Gangers OUT, and I lost 4. And it's apparent the Dice Gods and the Modeling Gods are not getting along right now becasue she lost 3 models w/ DEAD result and I lost 1.
This was the pivotol point int he game. 4 of her Eschers against 3 of my Van Saars. We took down 2, she took down 2, but then the other 4 guys in my gang arrived and when we took out the last Ganer they all went out due to being in down and in CC. I lost a decent veteran but I had a Juve come up 3 levels so he's on his way to being a replacement.
and a couple shots of the battlefield overall. Gangs are not deployed, just waiting for setup.
New bridge I built the other day:
Didn't play last night, will try for tonight or this weekend at latest. It's been a lot of fun getting back into this and I just bought a 'new' set of rulebooks today on eBay for $11! Score for me.
That's it for now. I'll be back w/ more when I have somehting to share.

@ dstein- I like little projects a lot. They are functional in game play, help set the atmosphere on the table, and finish up quickly so I get that fuzzy feeling of accomplishment. Last night I could not make myself work on the checkpoint (I stay really focused on building, but not so much on painting) so I went through my bitz box and gathered the oldest bitz I have. I'll be putting them up on the Terrain thread sometime this weekend.
@ Theophony- With your vision and build skills I'm guessing your paint skill is above average. And if you do need advice, the LoER and most Necromunda builders have excellent rust / weather techniques that are simple, fast, and really make the table look amazing. Here's an example of work done by Bruticus. This is the standard I'm aiming for:
@ neil101- I'm really glad I kept that 'crawler' thing. I've had it for 15+ years. Finally it will not only see some tabletop time, it's going to be a primary objective with a scenario written around it.
Nothing to share w/ pic, but wanted to say I worked on my Van Saars a lot last night and made a few changes to my vision of them. Black on black on black is 'real world' but makes for a boring miniature. I've added some color and detail, will share that work soon.
Also, ktbb22's schedule is going to free up a lot so I am hoping to share some Eschers here soon.
Speaking of Eschers, I found some on eBay that are really beat up, and that makes them perfect for conversions:
So lots going on here. I'll try to keep updates going as often as I can, and if you like what I'm doing here be sure to check out my Terrain thread because it's all about Necromunda right now.
Thanks for looking!

I'm a fan of bruticus and his builds as well. I just have to get back Into it all, pretty much stopped when I got married and the guys and I each went different ways. So many new techniques out there now. You tube will be my friend as well.

I just bid. Now I want to go throw up.
Man I wish I had someone else to blame for this.
Anyway, got some new miniatures IN TRADE tonight! Whoo! My buddy Feldenglas came over and we struck a solid bargain. I'll post pics later, but I scored some more Escher, a couple Ratskins, etc.
