Not going to happen, old chap - they're being pretty careful to keep the models in scale.

Using a TIE model as a reference point, and the details held on Wookieepedia as source material, I established that the Death Star would need to be 1km in diameter to fit...

And then you'd need to have around 7000 assorted TIEs to go with the DS.

Depends which battle, at Yavin there really wasn't that many I think sources suggest only 30ish ships from black squadron plus Vader

I want to see FFG take on Battlestar Galactica fighter combat using this system.

According to fluff the TIEs of the death star didn't deploy only because Tarkin thought the death star was indestructible. Only Vader sensed the danger and launched his squadron to fight the xwings.

Me, too ... sadly news just broke today that the Clone Wars animated series is being cancelled

What they announced is that there will not be a full season 6 made to be shown on Cartoon Network (which was already expected when Disney bought the rights to Star Wars), but we are still getting the season 6 material & wrap-up of certain storylines in one form or the other, either shown on one of Disney's channels, online or directly to DVD/Blu-ray.

It was already going to be the last season anyway as they are almost at the point of Revenge of the Sith.

Tantive IV/Corellian Corvettes is another nice ship they could make for the game which fits within the desired scale frame.

Star Destroyers would be cool, but too big.

Whatever they do, I think they will stick to the Original Trilogy ships first.

Yeah, no cloud cars and snowspeeders, sadly. Maybe one day someone will finally make a decent Star Wars mini game where I can use snowspeeders. They're by far my favorite sw vehicle aside from the AT-AT.

My LEGO Star Wars (video) game lets me use Snowspeeders in the trenches of the Death Star and other space missions

Ahhh that makes much more sense did think it was a silly number for a space station

That would be awesome...though Babylon 5 would be even better, as theres a far wider variety of minis to be made for it.

At 150m x 48.6m x 32.6m, that's 9-10 Y-Wings long. For some reason I thought it was longer than that.

It is probably the very upper end of what is practical on the board. To compare, the Falcon is 34.37m x 25.61m x 8.27m - so you're looking at a ship ~ 5 times as long, about double the width and four times deep. Given that's around 40 times the volume, I'd hate to think about the price, let alone how usable it'd be on a 3'x3' play area...

The scale they’ve gone for doesn’t really lend itself towards capital ship (or even escort) combat.

That said, there’s no reason why they couldn’t do a capital ship game using the same rule base, where single fighters become squadrons of fighters. That would allow for Star Destroyers and the myriad of Rebel ships, plus the Clone Wars expansions for all their ship types.

I would love to see a similar game with capital ships. The fun with star destroyers, interdictors, lancer frigates, corellian gunships, MC80, attack frigates etc would be endless! Even ties, xwings etc could be representet as squadrons!

A cap ship game would interest me more. Imagine a scale Executor? If an ISD was 3" long it'd make the Executor 33" long! HA!

At that point I think a parade float would be a more accurate descriptor than a "miniature".

If you're going to have a parade float then it might as well be a Super Star Destroyer.
