Morituri has been my favorite to paint so far but I am a sucker for Egyptian themed stuff.

Eurayle and Leo have been rather intimidating so they sit unpainted for now. Last time I painted a lion in came out disney-esque/cartoonish.

Septimus and otho have been a dream to paint and they fairly beginner friendly.

Currently debating between a "realistic" color pallet vs a more fantasy for sereqet. My fantasy color pallet would be a teal (perhaps a little lighter) and a bright resilient red for accent at tips of the tail, claws and maybe part of the back. Going to airbrush the feet brown and make the color gradually turn into the teal-ish color.

I did my sereqet in really realistic brown tones. Had some scorpion images printed as reference while I painted.

Utilized the minitaire ghost tints a ton for him.

Piston, did your euralye require a fair amount of green stuffing? Mine had a fairly large gap in the rear.

Well it took a fair amount of work not so much a lot of green stuff.

I had to make sure everything flush and flowed with detail and didn't look like a lump.

I made a little tool out of thin nichrome wire and stuck it into the handle of my exacto knife. Sort of like one of those wire cheese knives.

you can model the wire too into loops or points.

Thanks for these, Nick - I know I can't be the only one who appreciates these nuggets of insight (and here's hoping the Hroka/Caho-Ta mess gets resolved for you guys soon - both had a ton of promise before MIKH flatlined them).

Any thought to producing an in-depth, professional looking battle report? I think it'd be cool to see RRG's super awesome pro-painted models in some action shots, but even better would be seeing the in-game strategy and reasoning of the guys who created Arena Rex.

I'd second that idea. The short tutorial videos which the Corvus Belli guys released were a big help in getting me into infinity.

Yeah, I'm glad to hear the interest in videos. We will produce in-house videos eventually, battle reports, intros to gameplay, and so on.
It's time consuming to do these well. Take for example our Kickstarter gameplay video, it took the better part of 20 days to produce. Even so I look forward to putting some new videos together. If you have any other requests just let me know.

I'm thinking of buying a couple starters to demo this game in my area.

Based on my limited knowledge from the 7 minute intro video and reading character cards, I think I can kinda tell how a couple factions play, but I'm not 100% sure. Are there significant distinguishing features in style between the factions? Is one a glass cannon, one defensive, one beat stick-y, etc? I ask b/c the first couple people I know I'll demo with prefer certain play styles, so I figure if I cater the demo to their tastes, then their interest in the game would have a greater chance to be piqued!

Thanks

Ahh, I see the tactica articles on the site now! It seems that is answering my question for the most part.

Thats cool, very tempting but I've already committed to the Darklands Kickstarter so will have to give it a miss this time round.

great incentive b/c my order I'd like to get would be just under $150. So I may as well get an additional model for free shipping and just pay slightly more.

But I don't think I'll order before 10/9 (coincidentally the same day I'm playing the game for the first time lol). It should be a permanent special deal!

UPDATE: New Zephyri gladiator: Hagal! He's not Anum (yet) but still pretty cool.

He has a helluva damage tree with TONS of options... For example, in a single attack he can do up to 11 (!) damage (comparable to Leo and Acerbus) or earn two favor (which only Hermes can match). Pretty badass.

I don't love the sculpt (something about his face is holding me back) but I like it quite a bit - well enough to buy him when I get a chance. And I think his art is pretty great - this new artist (Bagus Hutomo) has a style that complements a lot of the original art (Yasmine Putri's in particular) nicely. He's also based on their "gladiator face" contest winner, which has to feel pretty awesome for whoever that is.

Really fun looking rules, but also not wowed by the sculpt. I think the head's pose is a lot of it.

The more I look at it the more I agree that the head is the key. His whole stance reads as being pretty flat as it stands - if he was tweaked to be turned to the left more with his head angled back slightly (i.e. more like in the artwork) I think it would seem a lot more "in the moment".

Mikh sent some WiP shots of Hroka I thought I'd share here.
With any luck we'll see more progress soon.

One quick question. When you all read or reference PDF rulesets do you prefer to print them out, view them on a computer, or a mobile device?

I was originally into option one, but more and more I do number three (and two, since they are more or less two parts of one whole IMO). That said, my preference is always for a physical rulebook, with the PDF as a supplement.

Hroka looks great too - thanks for sharing! MIKH is really pretty insanely talented... It's too bad he and deadlines (and general professionalism by extension) can't be better acquainted.

On the question, I'm usually on a computer when searching/referencing, and if there's anything I use a lot like a table or cheat-sheet, I'll print out the given page.

And yes, unless the book's particularly long and/or poorly organized (in which case digital searchability is paramount), I prefer printed.

And hroka looks really nice.

I like reading printed stuff to absorb rules and background,

but a searchable document on computer (or mobile) is good for finding that thing you forgot/are arguing about when actually playing

Agree with this 100%. She's looking great, but Caho-Ta seems even more unbalanced and front-heavy than Leo. Not sure a simple pin in the hooves will do.

And thanks for sharing, Nick.

(Also, is there an ETA for Anum yet? Waiting to see his sculpt before placing my order...)

Agree, Gomez. My Leo broke for the first time yesterday. Right at the ankle I always expected it to. :/

I actually drilled waaaay up into his ankle and have had no problems yet. That and the fact I accidentally mounted him on a 50mm base keeps me hopeful. *crosses fingers*

Piston Honda wrote:Incidents like that make you appreciate some more durable materials.

Relatedly, I just got my Blood Rage box in the mail and HOLY is the detail good for PVC. Like, almost as crisp in some places as any resin I've got. Is this the advent of a new age where we get great sculpts that can be punted across the room without breaking?

It ended up being a sligh blessing in disguise. I was forced to drill and pin it and his ankle feels a ton more stable now.

ETA 1 month. The minis are in production as we speak. As soon as playtesting is through we'll print cards and release the mini
