I've been proposing a cave bear at development meetings for years! Who knows what the future will bring?

Our booth will double in size next year. We have big plans for new products, maybe new product types, a super-fun event, etc.
Adepticon 2016 was incredible. It meant a lot to us, seeing people packed in our booth the whole show. Sometimes you'd see a guy wander in, look at everything and then walk out. I'd think "maybe our stuff isn't for him." And 10 minutes later he'd return with his friends, they'd all freak out and pick factions. From my perspective it was really fun to watch.

I had a demo game last night (friend's Morituri and Legio starter came in before my Magnus starter). A very fun, short game, which came down to Aquila failing a counter attack against Ur-Kek, and a Morituri victory. Definitely interested, and I think we'll try to get to "full sized" games asap, with maybe an idea to use a d4 to determine ludus size (5,6,7 or 8 models).

I have to echo others on here when I say, get those arena mats out soon!

Oh man, I wish I had gotten to demo this at AdeptiCon! I have a few of the figures and they're just amazing and I've heard really positive things about the game. Awesome that the con went so well for you guys!!

It's been awhile, but here is a long-overdue update to my AR project log. Figured a few of you up in here might be interested. Would love some feedback, critique, etc.

Cheers!

Gomez, awesome job on Marcus Furius. You're really, really good at shading skin properly. Also, big fan of changing from the blonde hair, seemed a bit out of place in my opinion. Nicely done!

Had a quick demo at our club on Friday night just to see who was interested.

We did have to scratch our heads regarding clear turns. If player A does a clear turn and removes fatigue does that model count as still being fatigued for player B activation?

A "clear turn" affects all models on your side; you remove a fatigue marker from all your models and get to use abilities, as relevant. If any of your models are now free of fatigue markers, then yes, in the opponent's next activation they're not fatigued.

FYI, posted to the Arena Rex Facebook page...

Fantastic news! I'd love to get a hands-on demo of the game, instead of buying a figure here or there.

I am interested in the game but it looks like ALL the starters are sold out?

Restocking is underway, per RRG. Apparently Adepticon absolutely wrecked their stockpile, as everyone and their brother bought/ordered once they saw the game. Sounds like they should have more product from their caster soon.

Not sure about retail availability - I know their products have slick looking retail-friendly packaging now, but I have no idea if they're marketing/selling to FLGS at all.

Yeah, I ordered a starter from their website after it had just gone out of stock, during the Adepticon weekend. Still hasn't arrived yet, and it may be another 2-3 weeks yet.

Same boat here. This Sunday will be six weeks from when I placed my own order - I've got my fingers crossed I'll get the email re: shipping next week sometime (though not optimistic).

Just had a bigger demo of 5 a side and it was awesome! The crowd just couldn't get enough! Sadly it was my blood they were cheering for as the dice gods had forsaken me!

A few of us have ordered some guys as a small shop in scotland got a lot of Arena Rex stuff in stock last week (excellent timing). really looking forward to getting my hands on the real minis rather than using cardboard cut outs.

I posted this on the RRG forums but it seems more people go here. I built this arena for around $15 in about an hour. It's not perfect, there are gaps abound and it's not level, but it serves its purpose!

Once it's painted I'll send an update!

Hey man, that looks great! A little paint and it will be perfect. Consider sharing over at www.reddit.com/r/arenarex too, I know the folks over there would love to see it!

What material did you use to construct the walls?

These handy individual styrofoam bricks!

If you can find them at Hobby Lobby you can get them for almost half the price. I just got a 2'x2' insulation sheet and tacky glued the bricks on one by one!

Thanks for the tip SubParNinja! Got cracking on my arena, but I ran out of modeling sand AND black primer during construction. I'm hoping to pick those up after work today.

Consider that idea pinched! Looks great.

Had a proper game last night using our miniatures for the first time. A couple of rule questions came up so I thought I would ask the community on how you guys play it.

There was some confusion over when a miniature can activate. Say you had 2 gladiators Hermes and Iason.

Hermes double moves and gains fatigue.

In your next activation you remove that fatigue and Iason double moves and gains fatigue.

We have been playing it that Hermes cant do anything until the following turn (we have been doing a roll off to see who goes first each time everyone has activated once).

Is this correct or can Hermes now activate and remove the fatigue from Iason? And you just keep going until you end up with a clear turn or exhaustion?

We also had an issue with the Gaius "Regrowth" tactic. It reads a friendly model within 3" of this model can heal. Does this mean Gaius cant heal himself? My opponent seemed to think he could but I argued that if that was the case then they wouldn't write "within 3" of this model"

Other than that it was a great game. Need to learn how to use Ludus Magnus better I don't seem to be able to put that much damage out and the Legion XIII guys all seemed to have a base of 3 damage so could instantly kill any of my guys if they get a good enough hit.

If I understand your scenario correctly, if Hermes and Iason are both in your cohort then things work like this...

Turn 1: Hermes double moves and is fatigued.

Turn 2: Clear Hermes' fatigue, Iason double moves and is fatigued.

Turn 3: Clear Iason's fatigue, activate Hermes however you like.

At the start of your turn you clear fatigue from one model and activate any other model with no fatigue on them. There is no reason to roll off or skip a turn - if Hermes starts the turn free of any fatigue he's fair game to activate however you like. If you push Hermes to exhausted (say, by moving then power attacking) then he can't clear fatigue (as he's past that point) until you reach a clear turn, which is when everyone in your cohort starts a turn with some level of fatigue. At that point you remove a level of fatigue from everyone (fatigue goes to clear, exhausted goes to fatigued) and activate any tactics you've got available.

We've always played that Gaius himself does count as a "friendly model within 3 inches". Not sure if the RRG guys have ever chimed in on that, but even in the rulebook they suggest that if you have questions you should reread the rule and play it just as it's written. I think in this case they would have written something like "another friendly model" if they meant to exclude GP from his own power. I'd suggest asking the question over at their official forum to get an official ruling - Walker is pretty good at responding to rules queries (even if it sometimes takes a day or two).

I'd suggest your store contacts them directly, as I'm pretty sure they'll supply them as there's much more control possible supplying a single store than a distributor who'll demand bigger discounts and expect restocks to contain far more minis at once

I just got my order from the adepticon sale, well half of it.

They sold out of everything and only get shipments from the caster every 2 weeks.

Anyone know who does the casting?

No idea who does their casting, but the type of resin they're using seems to have changed from the original KS minis. I just got my own backordered package from them as well - here is the update to my ongoing AR painting log with some of my impressions of my new goodies.
