Has anyone used a bare bones stealth suit team as a way of delivering space marine or eldar close combat bomb commanders on to the enemy?
Im not sure about space marines, but I could see how 2 autraches, 1 autrach and the Avatar, or the Avatar could benefit from not having to walk up to the enemy, especially against a gunline army, and the 2 plus cover save that is usually active isn't to shabby either.
On second thought as well, 2 space marine captains with terminator armor would fit the bill.

Is this tactic viable, and has anyone used it before?

How were you planning on using them as a delivery system? I don't think you can use them to infiltrate an IC without infiltrate, and outflank is a little risky these days with no charging straightout of reserve. The cover save is handy though

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

My question exactly. Is your plan to use the stealth's as essentially ablative wounds as you walk your character up the field? Yes, their stealth field is nice and all, but most characters can take wargear to give them invulnerable saves anyway. This is a very expensive bodyshield.

It might be expensive (probably the fatal flaw, there isn't really anything you can deliver that would justify the huge point cost of the combined unit) but I don't think you're going to find many characters with a 2++, and the stealth suits give extra wounds to ensure the character reaches its target unharmed.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I read the rules on page 39, page 63, and the infiltrate special rule in the BRB, and I believe I can infiltrate and outflank because it says at least one model " in each case. Am i interpreting the rules wrong, because if I am not, it seems like its a very good tactic.

I often take a shas el with a AFP and Cib with a 3-4 sized squad of stealthsuits each with a couple of drones (so 9-12 members in the Squad + HQ). Its fun for ripping apart infantry either as outflankers OR infiltrators.

Generally I use the mobility to my advantage and keep them moving and on the outskirts of my opponents movements.

My suggestion would be that they are great for getting a IC up where you need him. Battlebrothers + better leadership is the key.

Also.. make sure you DETACH that warlord, when you goto assult, cause the suits and drones will horribly die and cause you to loose combat. They can then use thier mobility to fade away.

Would a shas'el or 'o with SMS be a good option?

This was extensively debated recently here

The conclusion I concur with is that you wouldn't be able to infiltrate the IC because the infiltrating unit would not be placed when the IC needs to be deployed. You would be able to outflank though as you could place them both in reserve.

Outflank is good enough, especially because we usually deploy on the short table edges.
