Yeah. I'm planning on picking up 4 battle zones to go with the 3 "battle zones" i'll be getting out of assault. I kind of want to get a landing pad and a fortification for two of them. Maxing out on antenocitis means I dont need the extra scatter terrain ruins provides so I guess the rest are core worlds. I just hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot in terms of overall amount of terrain and the ability to make whole buildings (when the occasion calls for it).

For instance, the 'X' tile in core worlds is awesome for building up, while retaining ground level visibility. I need all of those I can get and hope that landing pad and fortifications don't weaken my overall terrain viability.

I'm sure it'll work out fine though, and be nice to paint something different too.

It is, and always was, a single tile for the Deadzone set.

That doesn't make me any happier about the repetitiveness of the board. The problem is that the $60 for 4 is not nearly as good a deal as the $150 for 12, but that is a lot of the same tile over and over. I don't need that many man holes per capita on my streets.

They have to order thousands of one design of mat. I was told that when they order from the printers again instead of 6000 (cant remember the actual figure) of one type they will order 2000 of 3 types.

Well, I broke down and upped my pledge to include a box of plague zombies, and the BOGO faction boosters, as well as the Helfather... Mantic is making my wallet empty, but 126 miniatures and terrain for $223 is a steal

What has science done! I am now sitting at $630 after adding on and army case and another $50 in terrain. Still have a bit open just in case anything catches my eye, but I may be done now. Either that or I grab another BOGOF booster... or more zombies. Gah!

Be aware that battle foam still hasn't supplied all the cases it was supposed to from the sedition wars kickstarter so people might want to think twice about pledging for a battle foam bag.

Really? That's odd. Unlike miniatures, games, etc.., they wouldn't have to produce anything "new", or would they?

It's all laser cut foam so that part should be easy enough, I'm guessing the bags themselves might be sweat shop outsourced and demand has outstripped supply.

Is $80 even a deal? The Mantic bag costs $65 retail, $48.75 on Black Friday.

That FF bike looks pretty sweet. I can see Forge fathers becoming very popular with things like that and the iron ancestor.

Hmm, that so? Hmm, you're right $75 in their shop. Wonder if the extra $5 is to cover the extra shipping it is likely to incur. Either that or the tray loadout is different (the KS page says it holds 200, how much does the $75/£50 version hold on average?).

Oh well, if it ends up not being a great deal then I have more room for terrain.

Edit - Ah, there it is. Yeah ships seperately so the S&H has been included in the price. All things considered, still worth the trouble (unless there are supply issues). Same cost as retail, but the shipping is much more reasonable. But if they go super cheap on Black Friday/Cyber Monday then others may want to wait.

Some more dwarf-detail up on Deadzone. Love the little jokes they do with the characters (such as they Freya Lady-Dwarf).

Oh wow, only 14 hours to go!

Not only have the Solo Zombies Campaign rules been locked in too, we’ve just broken through the Forge Father Faction Booster – thank you so much!

The Forge Father Faction Booster contains:

$925,000 - Freya, Forge Father Smuggler

With a crash the door smashed open and the Rebel trooper almost fell into the bunker. “There’s a… a… ” he gasped between gulps of air.

“Sanders!” barked the sergeant. “Report!”

The panting Rebel snapped to the best impression of attention he could muster, still gasping for air.

“Sorry sarge” he managed between breaths.

“Now lad, take your time” said the sergeant rather more gently. “What did you see then?”

“Private Sanders begs to report an enemy sighting, sir.” “Yes, well that is why we’re here son. Who’d you see?” This simple question seemed to confuse the trooper for a moment.

“A Forge… Father.”

“With the Orx? Hmmm, that’s unusual. Still, mercs turn up all over and you’ve seen them before. What’s got you so spooked about this one Sanders? Is he Forge Guard?”

“Not exactly, sir. He’s a she – a female Forge Father… er… mother... sister…” he trailed off into silence.

After a moment he continued “But they don’t exist.”

If we hit this goal, we will sculpt and tool Freya, a Forge Father Smuggler!

So, someone sell me on the models or the game. Right now I'm Pledged for 4 battlezones to use as terrain for necromunda and 40k. There's not really enough terrain for me in Recon or Strike Team, and I don't want to go much over 100. Unless there's a good reason for me to want the models or rules over the terrain (which looks pretty good). Any help?

If you can't afford both, I would get the terrain.

I really dig what I've seen from the rules.

The "move-by-squares-but-position-your-models-for-true-LOS" seems to be an awesome approach to doing a fast-play skirmish game without all the fiddling with tape measure, etc.. .

Models... well. You like em or you don't. Hard to "sell" you on them. I like a lot of Mantic stuff, but my mind also keeps drifting towards ideas on how to "40K-ify" the whole thing for a fast-play 40K Skirmish Game (say.. proxy DeathWatch-Marines for Enforcers, Eldar with new Wraithguard as Asterian+Cyphers, Orks for .. well Orx, Chaos Cultists perhaps for Plaque (3rd Gen) and a few larger Chaos stuff thrown in, etc.. ).

New characters are good but the stretch goals are a little uninspiring at this point.

$10k for a ticket that most backers will never use they should not be offering SG like that at this stage.

I've never liked hardcover books so I can give that a miss and it means I don't need to get to $750 for something exclusive that I want.

I'll pass on the crates I have loads and I like the idea that someone suggested of just putting blank crates out and the counters in a bag when you take a crate put your hand in the bag and randomly draw a counter - job done.

Glad to see the terrain being brought up to 2 battle zones.

So there's another $52 worth of characters coming that'll keep things ticking along.

My only complaint is that the characters I want aren't inside of $1mil. May just pledge $50 now. It it goes through, I get 'em all, if not it is another BOGOF booster or another couple battlezones. Aww, screw it, I think I'll just go all in and sort it out when I wake up!

The latest update!

More sprues, and more things... to buy.

Road to the Big One!
Update #79 · Jun 2, 2013 · 8 comments

Wow! We're flying guys, it's truly rocking!

With Freya currently being funded, let's see what's next. Let's take a look all of the way up to the Million Dollars!
$935,000 - Resin Loot Counters

If we hit this goal, we’ll be able to tool a set of resin Loot Counters with Inserts, produced by Antenocitis Workshop.

This set features a set of 8 Crates (a different design to any of the crates in the Urban Detailing Bundles) and 16 lids. The lids each have symbols for the different equipment and loot (such as heavy machineguns, medi-pack and grenades) moulded on so they can be carried around with your models as counters.

This 3D Resin Counter Set is now available to add-on to your pledge $10.

$950,000 - Nem-Rath, Asterian Observer

Even among the Shuutavar, Nem-Rath is regarded as being something of a stickler for the traditional. In a position that focuses on maintaining the Asterian way, Nem-Rath is a leading light. He is unflinching in his criticism of those who fail which makes his infrequent praise all the more valuable. His many years of experience and the finest battle gear available make him a formidable warrior in his own right - not that he will be pleased if he has to take part. Ideally his presence should not be felt by either side, save by the Asterian commander who will be hard pressed to avoid the sense that his every move and thought is being scrutinised which, of course, it is.

In the unlucky event of the commander being slain a Shuutavar’s objective changes. Nem-Rath, like any other of his class, will take over the command, completing the mission or recovering resources as he deems appropriate. The commander’s loss is regrettable, but need not be compounded by failure.

If we hit this goal, we will be able to sculpt and tool Nem-Rath, a brand new Asterian Character.

There will be brand new named characters for each of the factions, starting with Nem-Rath and they are available to add-on to your pledge:

$960,000 – Ticket

If we hit this goal, we will include a Free Deadzone Ticket to your pledge.

The Deadzone Ticket gives you free access to a special Deadzone event at a future show, including Adepticon in the USA and the Mantic Open Day in the UK.
$975,000 – Kish, Plague Named Character

If we hit this goal, we will be able to sculpt and tool Kish, a brand new character for the Plague.

Add her on to your pledge now for $8!
$1,000,000 - 2 Scenery Sprues and Deadzone Collector's Edition Book!

If we hit this epic goal, we will put together the Deadzone: Collector’s Edition book.

This book will be hard back with a unique piece of art on the cover. We will only print enough of these books for the Kickstarter, plus 250, and we will number each book individually.

Ronnie and Jake will sign each and every one with a personal message of thanks.

It will contain:

- The Complete Deadzone Rulebook, featuring all of the core rules and campaign system

- The Complete Deadzone Short-Story Compilation

- The Complete Deadzone Compendium – including Solo Zombie Campaign, Solo Rules, Multi-mat, Multi-player, Zombie Rules, Strategy Guide, Painting Guide and MORE!

- A Unique Developer Diary written by Jake, with concept art and colour art.

- PLUS a Brand New Scenario using all of your mercenaries in a single mission: the 1 Million Credit Bank Raid.

The book is available to add-on to your pledge for $40.

In addition, if you pledge $750 or more during the course of the campaign we will include a copy of the Deadzone: Collector’s Edition free with your pledge!
But that's not all!

If putting together this book wasn’t enough, we will add 2 Core Worlds Building Sprues into Strike Team, rounding you up to the contents of two full Battlezones!

This will be an incredible milestone - and we've got loads more planned if we get past here!

I'll admit, I'm a bit disappointed with this update.

It probably is the 'smart' thing to do in order to get people already committed to pledge more, but none of those really excite me. Especially given some of the 'Concept to Reality' issues Mantic's had of late.

More scenery in Striker is nice...but another 'exclusive' book?

And a Deadzone Ticket?

Hopefully the rest of the world likes these things a lot!

My guess is they're holding things off "fancy" things for WP instead of dumping it into DZ. I can understand it, even if I would drop a ton of money on basic Enforcers in hard plastic.

I'll be dropping enough as it is, so their absence doesn't bother me nearly as much as it might have once. Also, happy at the prospect of having a ton of battlezones once we hit 1mil...

The problem is that, for me at least, the characters will be easy to avoid and pick up later, unless they end up doing a Buy 3 get 4 thing?

The Asterian sculpts over in Dreadball and the Orx Debacle here in Deadzone make them easy to pass on for now.

I am feeling that after the dreadball and the orx mantic has finally taken seriously quality consistency.

^ Probably upgrading to Assault, the people that got in on the first 30 minutes of this were pretty hardcore mantic fans to start with, stands to reason that they'd want to upgrade.. I'd have done it myself if I had the funds.

2 Early Bird Recons up for grabs at the moment.
