That's a good question. I'm genuinely curious as to what specific female models they've done to make some kind of comparison.

Anybody know the prices in pounds? 105 euros is almost £90 isn't it? I'm sure the batallion wont be THAT much - right?!

Wood elves were last done in 2006 iirc.

Also, the plastic DE sorc isn't terrible and actually looks female.

So the better question is: Knowing that GW finally figured out how to sculpt decent females, why didn't they keep doing it?

All they had to do for those maidens was get the heads right and it would have been fine. I don't think High Elves run around with DD breasts anyway, so their smaller cup sizes would easily be obscured under clothing and armor.

Dispel Dice breasts?! Sounds like a very useful and quite High Elf like as well. Is that a new rule in the new book?

There are two reasons the DE sorceress works: 1) she's not wearing much. This means it's patently obvious that she's female. The metal bra draw attention to the fact. 2) She's a kit that can only be assembled one way. That means she was designed as a single, cohesive unit. We know how her body is supposed to work because she was only designed that way. Multi-part plastics just don't work for mixed male/female units unless they either have both male/female body parts, or they wear armour that completely disguises their form.

Ever heard of Dark Eldar?
Give them the same lower body and arms, because surely male and female hips look absolutely the same

Elven maidens outside the Warhammer World are the epitome of beautiful delicate ladies, only GW sculptors make them blocky dudes. Actually, even concept art for GW elven maidens looks female. Always think what Raging Heroes would do, and you get the idea.

A question for sculptors, are female figures generally harder to sculpt than male figures?

How about the faces?

I just choked at the price of the Shadow Warriors...

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Malifaux has quite a few female models and they turned out okay. You don't have to be commissioned by Poots to sculpt the female form in appropriate proportions to make a toy figure from. Excepting, of course, GW.

I am not seeing the female minis. All I see is a bunch of pretty-boys and possibly some transgender.

Shadow Warriors are so frustrating... gorgeous models except for the stupid poses and then there's the price

EDIT - Anyhoo, I will take the Uniforms and Heraldry book and possibly a Skycutter for a bit of fun.

They're multi-part plastic so you can do your own poses.

I don't get the "Uniforms and Heraldry" books. I feel like that's something you buy because lighting your money on fire isn't quite as fun.

Another failure of a release by GW. We got two toys that are very similar and a meh transvestite skirmisher kit. No new Archers, Spearmen, Sea Guard or Silver Helms is a massive failure. Guess I'm sticking with Chaos Dwarves and Dark Elves.

I don't really think you can call it a 'failure' just because they didn't update any units you wanted. Especially when we all knew ahead of time that this was the case.

Pretty sure I can call it whatever I want.

The released two silly toys and a set of models you might take ten of in your army. Both of them are also very overpriced. $60 for a chariot with a flying stand? No thanks.

Dont you want to see the rules and point values before calling it a MASSIVE failure? I dont play high elves or plan to but I think it is a very nice looking army. Just because the female models are not scantily clad with giant boobs does not make them transvestites.

What you mean is you personaly don't like it. Thats fine. But to call the release as a whole a failure would indicate that nobody likes it, which is untrue.

The lack of arrow holding arms for the Shadow Warriors pretty much seals the fact that I would end up using the arms from the Sisters of Avelorn for my own Shadow Warriors.

That's a good thing though, because then they could pull double duty as "Avelorn Rangers" rather than "Sisters of Avelorn".

I'm impressed by the fact that they released transfers for quite a few of the provinces. Did not see that coming, to be honest.

I think that's off the back of the Heraldry book. I remember the Skaven one, it was quite good. Although it's stuff that i would prefer to see in WD.

Shadow Warrior heads look very, very Dark Eldar, could make some good trueborn bits.

Overall some pretty cool stuff, especially the sky-cutter stuff, but I feel like a lot of the posing on the Phoenix for example could have been much, more exciting if it was more dynamic and action oriented... the phoenix's make all the flying monsters the Elves have in a 'gliding pose' along with the dragons... I dunno.. a bit repetitive and although beautiful on one, as the only option across the board is kinda boring...

I kinda feel for em on the female front... people don't realize how tough it is to translate, and never seem satisfied. I think they could have done better if they made the 2 units you can make out of the box all female, but no matter what, any miniature company will be accused of being sexist for putting boobs, hips and lips on the models by half (which really when you boil down to it are the defining sillouette items that make something obviously female, it's not sexist to use sex characteristics to define sex lol!) or people complain they don't know what a female looks like when they don't go the pin-up route... In 28mm, you have to exaggerate, it's just a fact of the scale...

I would too...until I remember that I'd much rather have a nice book than a not so nice magazine.

Would totally prefer Heraldry to be slightly cheaper though. $20, tops.

Thinking about the Codex, the sky chariot, and the phoenix. I like those models, and then I can theory-hammer the codex.

Indeed, but "they're wearing too much" isn't why these models are bad.

I wanna say it might just be the paint, but I dunno...Alarielle there kinda looks like a monkey in my opinion.
