Anyone else noticed the stealth re-release of the old Teclis model? Going back to the original model is a huge improvement over the previous edition, wondering now if GW plans on re-releasing any other old-school models any time soon.

+ Edit : Got my brothers mixed up, figures... ¬_¬

You're going to have to post a link, because I'm only seeing one Tyrion model.

The old Teclis is far superior, as is the Everqueen. I prefer the old Tyrion to the new as well, though that might be more nostalgic thinking than the other two.

Yeah, I mixed the two brothers up, it's still the same Tyrion model, it's Teclis who went back an edition to his younger self.

Saw the mistake after I had posted and edited my post since...

I preordered the Everqueen earlier tonight, still not a fan of the model, but I try to pick up female models when they turn up as if nothing else in my own mind to make some kind of point to GW about the fact female models will sell. I grabbed the Handmaiden as well.

Going to try and modify the Everqueen into something more acceptable.

Also got both books and the spell cards, but nothing else for the time being.

The more I look at that sky chariot, the more I think GW messed up. It simply makes no sense, the way it is.

So if I were to get one (which is still very much up in the air, given the costs), I would use the hawk as a giant eagle. Then I would completely rescuplt the flying boat to something a bit more... not realistic... Functional? Keep the general elven flowing lines while putting a ram on the front. Make it clear this thing moves not by aerodynamic effect, but sheer magic power.

And in the doing save a lot of giant hawks from getting squashed by sky chariots slamming into them at the end of a charge.

Magic doesn't make sense

And making a chicken sandwitch every time you want to charge with a sky chariot does?

Aye, I like the hair though, very similar to how Aura drew her for my Avatar. Think I'll see if I can save it first, by taking the silly top off it and the sides and then see if I can make it look a bit more like a tiara/crown. The main issue is the staff, not sure if I should get the plastic magic kit and transfer in a staff from there, or track down an old metal Everqueen and use the staff off that one.

BTW in the heraldic book, the maiden guard also has broad shoulders, small hips and male angular faces. Good thing Elves have no beards

I have the Shadow Warrior kit in hand and can say that the Maidens are actually pretty nice models.

The only downside, IMO, remains the hair.
I'm slightly less irked by the price as well, seeing that you do get enough of the legs they use for delineating the Champion/Shadow-Walker(the leg standing on top of the crushed Dark Elf helmet) to actually assemble two units of 5 rather than a single unit of 10.

That's because the kit only has 2 different frames in it, 2 of 1 type and 4 of another. It is an incredibly simply kit what would have been very cheap to produce as the number of frames determines the number of molds that need to be made which is most of the costs for GW right there. there is no reason for the kit to be as expensive as it is and from a single box you are already juggling your options if you don't want to have duplicate models in your units.
The models are nice but they should have been separate kits or else had a 3rd frame of options thrown in.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Oh definitely. I'm very puzzled as to why they chose to make these two units share the same box.

It makes me think that the Sisters of Avelorn and Shadow Warriors might have originally been intended to have a more widespread availability but that was changed later.

Does look like they retained more army specific magic items than most of the recent books though; by page count if not item count anyhow, just had a glance so could just be more fluff

I did call early on that every magic item I used would get axed(Armor of Caledor is not worth 50 points).

Book of Hoeth is actually useful in it's current state and isn't crazy OP.

Far too many "One Use Only" magic items, which I despise.

Also no Banner of Ellyrion which has been around at least 12 years.

I"m still in the process of trying to work out character/unit synergies. My inclination is to include Banner of the World Dragon in one unit, and a LV4 and Anointed in a different unit together(as the Lore Attribute makes the Anointed VERY useful in a unit you need to protect).
