I reckon the basic tau stuff got a nerf but overall it'll be a more effective army, given all the shiny new stuff plus toys for any battlesuits to use.

My Kroots weep.

Oh wait, I have 100 infiltrating snipers now for the same cost as before. Watch out Flying Monstrous Creatures!

Any changes to the Kroots strength and weapon skill? Any word that they have stealth or does it still only works in woods? At least now I know their base cost is reduce, which saves my horde Tau army 100 points.

Thank goodness I ordered only a single Riptide.

Dropping the Fire Warriors points cost to 9 and their range to 24" seems like a terrible trade off. Although I welcome the thought of partial TSKNF just so long as it isn't the original Bonding Knife rules. Who cares if you can regroup below 25% when they are dead because they failed their initiative role from losing combat?

Tau lacking any CC other than Crowe's long lost xeno twin brother is fine by me. They still have access to the most number of Ally of Convenience.

If you download the How to Pain Tau sample from the ibookstore, in the end they have some codex snippets. firewarriors come with Photon grenades.

All the suits have multitrack eros and black sun filters standard (it is on the battle suit page reprinted in the WD.

Also, I would be surprised if the drones were limited, fire warriors can probably buy their upgrade range back. The drone purchases are what is going to make them a solid troop choice.

Sad to hear about the Kroot losing a A, but it is sounding like a syngeristic shoots army, which is great.

Assuming their weapons remains the same, it will ultimately come down to points cost on whether they make or break it.

If they are still Fast Attack, they'll be competing with the new Flyers for FOC slots.

In the first post it says they have 6" extra range and are 1pts cheaper

From the OP:
Vespid!: the Vespid (and all units) are one point cheaper than originally and their gun ranges are increased by 6'. Armor of 4+.

Wait.. so now they cost the same points as a Grey Hunter?! Aww snaps! That's actually quite good. All the previous Marine Killer infantry have never hit it off. Grey Knights will weep.

So the new broadside suit just has the one gun, and not two as before (no twin link etc)? Do they still have the option of Missiles and twin linked plasma’s?

Okay. These are some of the things I've learned about the new Tau Codex, not so much from reading the new model gallery but from reading the battle report. As no points costs are given in the article I don't know how much any of these options cost, but thought I'd put it out there for others.

Supporting Fire: This is a rule that almost all Tau units have, that allows them to support each other in Overwatch

Velocity Trackers: Is the battlesuit system that gives broadsides Skyfire

Counter Fire defense system: Is a battlesuit system that lets the unit Overwatch at BS2

Repulsor Impact Field: another battlesuit system, that causes a d6 s4 ap- hits when the unit is charged, and resolved at Init 10

Interceptor Drones: are equipped with some sort of Ion weapon, that on an Overcharge hit at s8

I had posted this in gen discussion and was told it should be here *shrugs*

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Do crisis suits still have the limit of 3 systems/weapons they must choose? Or can you get more or less? Are they BS4 standard or still BS3?

the speculation is either 3 or 4..there is a pic in WD with a commander and 4 suits.. could just be a photo op though

Or perhaps they could make a difference between an 8 year veteran fire warrior in an advanced robot suit complete with a multitude of optics and a guardsman a month out of boot camp with an iron sight on his lasgun. BS3 standard on fire warriors? Absolutely. BS3 standard on crisis suits? Doesn't match either the fluff nor common sense. Are there ways around it like markerlights? Sure, but that doesn't negate the previous statement.

What a load of rubbish here. I am sorry fellas but it is April 1st over in Singapore.

From the white dwarf codex preview you can easily make out that all suits come with Multi Trackers and BSF as standard. It also states Kroot come with a 6+ save. Now if that is as standard or an upgrade it doesn't state. Firewarriors come with Photon grenades as standard which isn't a bad thing at all really.

Pulse rifles 24"? I highly doubt that to be honest. The pulse accelerator makes sense for Pathfinders but doubt it will be a FW upgrade.

Don't get me wrong...I agree. but with the inclusion of markerlights they could get a bit OP.

so bs3 it is.. unfortunately with BS going from 1-10 (and we hardly see stuff above 5) there isn't enough range to accurately portray the multitude of races/troop types/abilities... so we get silly things like rookie guard being as good as an elite veteran. jusy the way it goes I guess.
