Think the unpainted pics will definitely help. In fact, anything you can display about what are undoubtedly cool miniatures (with the caveat that you don't want to make it like Gates of Antares, and make it too cluttered!)

Also, congrats on the 10%!

Then how about something like this.

And to prevent clutter. either 1 replacing the stylized scenes with backgrounds with these pictures. or putting another very short video at the top that shows the unpainted proofs.
These are the straight proofs from the casters with nothing done to them. The ones in pewter are just masters cast in pewter for robustness. Delivered minis will all be resin, except possibly the stroller which may be pewter just for spinning if there is enough demand, (I doubt it).

Alternatively,
Should I just move the images from the bottom up to the top (that show painted and unpainted with a figure for scale) and move the painted images down to the bottom?

Atenocitii's Workshop doesn't seem to have a problem making sales. They're stuff looks more like Infinity than this stuff does. This stuff looks like Trapper Keeper art come to life,.

Although as I look at it some more, the Crab Hauler looks halfway decent.

The rest really is terrible.

Strange how so many retailer of woodcut terrain, and vehicles can capture the Infinity aesthetic, but this guy can't.

I think the main issue with many of the vehicles are they are painted like a Low rider car show. Little too exotic.

Have the paint jobs on the vehicles as though they would have rolled out of a car plant. 1 solid car with another color for trim.

Maybe one or 2 exotic paint schemes.

I think that's a pretty subjective statement to make. This guy has a really radical painting style, which perhaps makes the miniatures look more outlandish than they otherwise would be (and I think hence the requests for just unpainted pictures), but it's not hard to see beyond that.

As someone who has made a couple of boards for Infinity, and probably spent thousands of man-hours on building and painting terrain and miniatures for the game, in my opinion the design aesthetic of most of this stuff fits the game pretty well.

I would buy one of these. I mean, the full size working vehicle version, not a toy model. Seriously.

Heck, I'd buy this one if I could afford it. Man, I can't believe these things run $30 grand. :/

I think seeing some of them with an off-white body with some striping or panel details and a blue canopy with the same hex HUD type look that you are doing would show off a lot of those vehicles better.
The dark bodies are making it hard to make out the shape let alone the detail.

Still undecided on this one. The designs a really like are all stretch goals...

The quality of these are average at best. None of them are exciting.

Putting an ok sculpt next to a really high detailed/great sculpt makes the first one look really bad; everything is relative to everything else. I'd suggest against it.

Maybe in Mega City One they would fit in better, but they don't fit with Infinity, with the exception of maybe the Cargo Hauler.

I agree the paint job doesn't help any, but he would have been better off floating some design sketches around first.

Exactly.

I like the style, and I don't see how they don't fit into Infinity. A mono-wheeled motorcycle is about as outlandish as these are. They look fine to me, in terms of anime future, although some designs look like they fit more than others. The egg mobile, btw, is from Syndicate.

Spoiler:

BTW, I love the paint jobs for the most part. My house is full of my son's Hot Wheels and they make me feel right at home. I also love the effects done on the glass/viewports/cockpits/whatever.

Indeed, I modified things a bit based on response because the BG was deemed too simple, and I painted a few more vehicles in what I thought was sufficiently simpler schemes as a result. IE the more recent ones dont have HUD's, and have lower windshield dome detail. The colors used for most of the bodies are simpler and more monochrome as a result also. Apparently my idea of more toned down is still very outlandish for most....

Everything has its own style, just like a honda is very distinct from a Porsche, so I wanted some very distinct and divergent designs, not just 20 versions of the same vehicle. These were made to populate a city I was working on as my UFO IRF game attests http://browse.deviantart.com/art/UFO-IRF-Battle-Report-355970056" rel="nofollow"><"UFO battle report
These were designed to be smooth, small, fuel efficient, and to go BOOM when shot.

I am presently working on getting at least some of these painted more simply (I dont have a blank copy of all of them)
But the question now is, would the KS page look better with just these instead of the ones with the silly stick figures.

Somewhere in south-central England.

You should think about doing some pilot/rider figures.

Not only for your own vehicles but for the loads of other SF vehicles and toys which come without seated figures.

This really doesn't help anybody. Why can't you understand that he isn't trying to copy a particular style, he has his own and is seeing who else out here likes it. There are plenty of people on this thread who do like it, as it fits their own vision of the game they are playing. If it doesn't suit yours, feel free to leave feedback if it's constructive, but to tell him to just go out and emulate what's already on sale does nothing for the industry. If you want to buy something that looks like Atenociti's stuff, buy it from them.

Personally, I really like most of the designs. They aren't all my cup of tea, but the way I get round that is that I just won't buy it. I have no problem with them coming into existence whether I use them or not. I personally love the bubble cars as they really fit my own vision of what civilians will be driving in a utopian future. And I think the cargo crab is an excellent design, I love the way it can be shortened to take a lighter load. I could easily see it making it's way around industrial districts in Blade Runner or sometihng like that.

@Atropos, I really hope that this Kickstarter funds, but if it doesn't, I hope that you will take the positive feedback you've been getting to heart and try again. There's plenty of us who want to get behind you on it

Agreed regarding the Cargo Hauler, having them fit the Tommygun containers (which are available freely, and which a lot of Infinity players already possess) was a really good idea.

Unpainted pics, and pic of painted models on the white background really show your work off well, and also show that these fit very nicely with the "Infinity Aesthetic" as well!

Not a bad idea, but not quite impedance matched to my modeling skills. Granted that really just means I havent tried yet since I like tech a lot and feel you can get almost any type of mini figure out there already. Im rather mini agnostic as my painting blog shows. But Ill keep this in mind if something jumps out at me. I was considering, for my next trick, modeling combat exo skeletons similar to infinity's TAG's... We'll see if I get around to it. Alternatively I may shift back a bit to organic ships such as my razor wing or Nautilus dreadnaught. But unless they were modified to suit something like 40k vesp or nid dont think there'd be much interest

Pacific wrote:Agreed regarding the Cargo Hauler, having them fit the Tommygun containers (which are available freely, and which a lot of Infinity players already possess) was a really good idea.

Ive actually just finished a bunch of what I feel are "more futuristic looking" containers of geometries nearly identical to Tommyguns, mainly to fit my 4x8' map better. I need to do a bit of folding and gluing before I can show them. They will be included with the cargo hauler for some variety.

H.B.M.C. wrote:I love the paint schemes. They're so gaudy and out there. Fantastic stuff.

For the map check out my UFO battle report, which shows a UFO invasion game taking place on this map. http://atropos907.deviantart.com/art/UFO-IRF-Battle-Report-355970056 or these images

To sell this I will need to buy the licenses for a few of the textures, most of them are free, and two very small textures I cannot get the license for (no response by owner) or the price is too extreme so Ill be replacing it with some artwork I generate that will serve the same function like an underground hatch. Any texture replaced will look very similar in asthetic to the original.

I like my future "out there" we need something to strive for other than a war torn or monochrome future. Though I dont believe in a Utopian future, Any utopian society, unless it is all knowing, horrifically oppressive, and carries a very big stick, will get overthrown by troublemakers and opportunists who are willing to do whatever it takes to get their way. Conflict is good and helps us grow. But... we should always strive for something beyond what we think we can reasonably achieve.

as for being an Fzero fan, I was not aware if it affected my painting, I havent seen Fzero for over a decade but I do remember it!. I think if you check out my website or my blog, you'll see I just tend toward higher color depth and saturation with stronger complimentary, triads, etc. I got tired of "in the future, there is only drab"

Yes! That was what I was trying to think of! Think the bright font, and general colours on the black background helps create that impression also.

Some bases that were going to be in the base goal (if cheap enough from the caster) or as a tinny stretch goal.
At this point I think its fair to say the KS is a definite flop.
Thanks everyone who supported it. Ill be in contact with those who pledged to see if your interested in buying a smaller subset of the vehicles when I get them back from the casters.
