Hey dakka. The other day me and one of my gaming buddies were discussing when we got into 40k and what our first models and units were. It ended up kinda turning into a nostalgia trip and so I thought I'd ask you guys. What was the first model or box of models that you bought?

For me it was a box of Khorne Berzerkers, a unit of Chaos Space Marines, and Kharn the Betrayer.

Mine was the old 2nd ed starter paint set with a marine in and a 2nd ed marine bike. I still have them both.

Mine were the original plastic space marines, later I had the skeletons that were available around the same time and mixed and matched the parts to make undead marines.

My first 40k was Dark Vengeance but i was into fantasy before that and I bought a metal Archaon for Hordes Of Chaos.

My first were just a regular 10 man tac squad with the old school missile launcher. One of my early ones were the old battle force though.

I love when newer players(or gw redshirts) see some of my older models and say "wow nice conversion".

My first minis were technically Space Marine 2nd Ed Orks, but really it was the contents of the Tyranid Attack boxed game.

I got Space Crusde for a birthday, and then the first boxed set i got was RTB01, i think i still have them somewhere

Space Marine terminator with an Assault Cannon - painted him up as a Blood Angel. That was 19 years ago. Long time ago for me.

When my brother and I finally got into Titan Legions and 2nd ed 40k, I had no idea it was made by the same company.

original RT plastic marines box set, I saw a ad for them in a Dragon magazine, and thought they were the coolest thing I had ever seen, somehow I convinced my parent I needed them

My first was a was a 2/3E-ish necron warrior, but the first box set i got was the 3E starter set. I still have that necron around somewhere!

I got a pack of 3 metal eldar rangers. Then like 2 months later codex: Tau came out(stupid Tau Empire, never liked the empire part of the name) and years later i finally bought a box of FW(like 6 or so months ago)

I bought a whole mess of used minis off of a taxi driver who came into my gas station one night. They had a pasty paintjob with pot leaves as their chapter symbol. (Although there was some older models among them that look pretty sweet!)

A box of Dire Avengers. I still have those exact models this very day. It's funny comparing them with the Dire Avenger unit I bought early last year. Also a bit weird to think that, 7 years on, GW still sell those very models...

Battle for Macragge. Still remember painting the sergeant in the store as an Ultramarine, getting home and deciding I can't paint blue, and making my own chapter.
