Basically what the title says, do you think or have you heard anything about a new worldwide campaign similar to EoT.
I was thinking with GW rolling out so many Codexes in such a short amount of time and with the background the HH is getting are they finally prepping for the plot developmental?
Get all the armies updated
Get people interested in the HH lore through the books and introduce them to the players in this campaign
Abaddon's 14th Crusade?
The Lion awakens?
Emperor gets out of the throne?
Russ comes back?
Maybe not but I like to think there is some reason to the codex releases every month other than GW wants more of my money.

I think not. The reason why they are churning out so many books and armies is most likely more to do with the realization that their previous strategy of not updating an army for 8 years wasn't working.

I certainly hope another world-wide campaign comes around. I really enjoyed participating in the EoT and Storm of Chaos ones years ago.

Even if they fudged numbers for EoT to help the Imperium out.
Course considering that the 13th isn't even FINISHED...Be nice to see whether or not the new worldwide campaign started once Cadian dies off.

They have a really bad habit of picking the winner then running the campaign.
EOT wasn't the only one they fiddled.
I would like it if they ran an honest campaign, and then adjusted the on-going fluff from the results. It would make players feel a whole lot more invested in the game, IMO.
Of course they would have to have on-going fluff first, rather than rehashing history...

Changing the fluff to suit only the battles that get registered would NEVER work, reason- ratios.. Take Cadia for example, CSM vs cadians in tourneys etc are three to one in any given battle.. Not to mention there are more chaos players than IG where I play... Actual fluff ratios? More like 10,000 maybe even 100,000 to every on CSM, yes these ratios include the shittiest of the shitties, but hey show me a battle where chaos termies try to shut the shield reactors down against a superior force within record time, because they know 100's of vehicles or even a bombing/lance run are going to ruin there day by turn 4.. Using nothing extra cool but the tactics they've learnt over 10,000 yrs or so.. When fluff affects tournaments THEN we can talk about tournaments affecting fluff..

These days I dont think GW would bother to run a world wide campaign unless they can figure out some way to monetize it.

People send in battle reports and results that are likely fudged. Then GW fudges the numbers some more to make things turn out the way they want. I think they capped off the Piscina 4 campaign with a WD battle report but its been ages and I dont remember for sure.

No, GW won't ever do this again. They've withdrawn into their shell to churn out product and not really interact with their customers again.

To be fair, they don't do them anymore because they were terrible. People faked results to try and skew the outcome, GW faked results to actually skew the outcome, and we got a bunch of mini army lists that were forgotten about after the campaign was finished, but left GW with people pissing and moaning for years afterwards about supporting said mini army lists. I'd say we'll get more stuff like Crusade of Fire - campaign books that let you use them to do your own thing. Personally, I'd love a Tyranid campaign book. Like, I'd camp the website waiting fo the ability to hit pre order.

To give an actual answer...
GW would set up separate campaign website. Each faction had some sort of objective that they were fighting for. You would register your army and either choose or be assigned a general territory where you were fighting. You would play games against your local buddies and record the results on the site. Every week GW would tally the results and update the grand map.
GW usually put out new models and sometimes books to support the campaign. They were free and fun, and gave players a reason to play a lot during the summertime.

Mutated Chosen Chaos Marine
|
The last world wide campaign was a joke. The forces of Chaos won, and GW had to fudge the results so that Space Marines would win. After all, the Space Marines are the ones who sell the best, they have to win.
So, no. A world wide campaign would end based on sales. The best selling faction (Space Marines) comes on top and the worst selling faction (Eldar or Sisters of Battle) fails miserably, regardless of how well they actually do.

I keep hearing this come up, the 'GW fudged it so the Imperium won it', but I didn't know they released their results to the public/you had access to the results as they were submitted to judge it yourselves.
Or could you see all the data pouring in and then in the end their maths didn't equal your maths?

Agree with this post... all the time ork and chaos players bitch the same tune... "We won all our games therefore all others like us won theirs.. it's a conspiracy!! the worlds against us..."

This. Plus if they wanted to make money, then run it at GW Stores. They could get very decent entrance fees at Warhammer World (not sure if you have them in the US etc though) and run tournaments and Apocalypse games there. Results would be displayed at the end like any normal tournamet, so they could be logged by the participants and posted online so everyone knows who wins overall.

Victory for Chaos! Not a complete victory, the forces of Order have held the line in many places and Cadia itself still defies the Arch Warmaster Abaddon. But nonetheless over eight weeks the forces ot Disorder have consistently out-fought and out-manoeuvred their opponents across the warzones of the Eye of Terror.
So chaos won...why are people saying they fudged the results for the imperium then?

Because if they had accurately shown the results Cadia would have been completely overrun.

Maybe The Lion awakens? No Emperor gets out of the throne? NO Russ comes back? No 40K is not an ongoing story. It is a setting, in which we play. You can have micro-developments like a Black Crusade, a Tau Expansion or a Tyranid Hivefleet, but you wont see macro-developments. The fundamental plot-points of the setting wont change.

I don't understand how you can say that like it is a definite, when you don't have access to the data. If that thread is the closest thing to the raw data that was presented, then you can't make that claim

Ok, its not 100% certain that would have been the case, but the end results were quite fishy.
What are the chances of the results showing the Imperium just barely holding onto Cadia? Not very high.

There were forums for both the Order and the Disorder side, the Order side was also doing so badly at one point that Jervis had to officially come out in WD and say for them to pick it up and stop going after certain things if they want to win.

I love the cynicism on forums. It makes me smile.
I think people are forgetting the point of a worldwide campaign. They are trying to give everyone a reason to play the game beyond sitting 2000 points worth of models on the table and rushing them towards each other. It's supposed to be about giving you an excuse to get more involved in the hobby. For example, to create a new piece of terrain to fight over with your friends or to dig out an army that you haven't used for a while. As someone who has read WD for a long time but is trying to get more into playing 40K this appeals to me. I think it would get me to put in extra effort to get my army ready to play more games.
Influencing the fluff is a nice idea too and of course we are at the mercy of GW to tally the scores. But as others have said, we don't have any evidence to say that GW changed the end result. Of course it's possible, but to me it feels a bit stupid to even get upset about it. I'd just be happy that I'd taken part.
