proof of concept...yeah... that´s the ticket... I tend to do smallish test models too... some stuff and methods need to be tested beforehand...

the doors looks very good...as for the chains... who says the chains are there all the time? we build our models that represent just a tiny fraction of a second in the models life span... so there might be a point in time where someone wanted these chains there... to hinder the fellas to enter or get out ...I think you are heading to something really awesome with that project!!!

...and came up with another idea. Warhammer baseball, might as well make an amerorcan game . Marc likes making up games so we have been discussing rules while playing bloodbowl. I had a miniature I made years ago when I had the idea, but now we are going to make this game happen. I'll post pics of the model later .
Just finished another bloodbowl game. My lizardmen won against Marc's orcs 1-0.

Okay, so I made this guy a few years back along with a Norse hockey team. Marc saw it and we began talking about making a baseball version of bloodbowl. Marc is a bean counter by trade, so he loves working up statistic, I like making the models and the pitch, so maybe well have something here. I'll see if I have any more bits to make the rest of the team. We're going to work on just human teams now, get the rules good, then expand to other races.

hmm.... to be honest I like a hockey/icehockey game much more than baseball...as it has more close quarter potential...I can only imagine a 40k based baseball game to be much like the original...so no room for any violent moments here

BUT...that concept for a player looks very fitting...and I like the stance of that fella!... very cool by the way is his helmet that gives the impression of a baseball cap^^

yeah, we're trying to get the rules ironed out, then we'll bloody up the game with spiked bats, kleets, and bean balls. The helmet was in the up position because he's trying to unnerve the pitcher with some good old american insults . Even if it doesnt turn out quite as bloody as bloodbowl, it should at least be fun and fast paced, unlike the real game. I am not a huge baseball fan, I too prefer hockey, there is just too much time between pitches, only one person is affecting the ball at any moment, and not enough bench clearing brawls .

Make exploding balls! if the field of the bat or gloves does not touch the ball first, BOOM!

that might wind up as one of the options, but was more thinking the skaven team pitcher would have the poison wind balls that explode on contact with the bat to try and injure the batter. or the goblin bomber that throws the bombs, if the batter hits it then its a drawback to the fielding team.

yes, and I already have it in mind to have Phil Niekro being a pitcher with his hidden nail file to scuff up the balls.

i only ever watched one game of baseball...*yawn*... same goes for football... but icehockey... or rugby... that´s where the teef are flying^^... icehockey is brilliant because...on lawn blood tends to soak into the ground... on ice...well you have fun the whole time through^^

but with the option to switch balls and make other exiting "accidents" this might be a cool idea after all

Just to make it clear, the sump pit project is NOT fully derailed by the baseball game. I have managed a little work on the models last night, but running out of certain key plastic to make this happen, so I'll need to make a supply run before too long.

Did you guys like the light above the maintenance door? I'm thinking of making more of them, but not totally sure on if it "works" or not.

Bits from the inside of a land raider. I don't do the insides of the models, so I had plenty left over.

From what I've heard dreadball is nowhere near as good as bloodbowl, probably why we haven't seen any threads about it or custom stadiums. It just wasn't enough to get me to even read their rules for the game. I'm still teetering on getting the terrain from their dead zone kickstarter that ends today. I just don't like spending money on something I'm not going to get for 6 more months when I have ll this necromunda terrain. But, I do like the idea that these will still be available in the future to build a Massive table.

Now the deadzone minis would help flesh out things some what, and the buildings and such would help make a nice table for battle in urbanized areas. Have a more "colony" feel to them.

I'm skipping the minis completely. If I get anything it will be terrain. It might make some good urban non industrial sprawl. Plus the landing pad looks decent enough.

I probably asked you already, but I ask everyone who gets mantics stuff, how were the models, bad molds/flash wise. I'm getting mixed answers.

Mine were in very good shapoe, no more flash than any other kits, mild filing or x-acto rubbinbg to get rid of it, and I did post pics of the guys that showed them off, very detailed, but as they were "restic" super glue needed to assmble, some came with metal arms.Overall, I was impressed with the details and quality, and found them far, far sturdier than Finecrapst.

Hehe, that sounds familiar, getting as much done as possible before the next crazy idea pops into your head, If I'd just kept myself to one project at a time I would actually make some progress worth mentioning

The light above the maintenance door looks really good by the way and the rest of the panels are coming along nicely as well! I'd say those lamps would add a nice atmosphere to your board, people often forget about these small details which really helps the terrain to really come to life. So I vote for more lamps!

Is that the Land Raider engine compartment? That is a badass bit! Is that Plastruct ladder?

Why yes, and yes again. I didn't use all the internal parts for the raider, so now I have a scrounged bit. I have more of that ladder waiting use on other structures as well.

Did a little work while the kids played and my wife is at the graduation party for her school.
Used some extra bits that were laying around from the old ravenwing sprues, these held either the lamps or assault cannons or one of each.

They make great offsets for piping in the underhive.

The pipes are lollipop sticks that I got from Walmart a while back, two of them fit next to each other on the ravenwing bit. I plan on putting them on the side of this new tower.

Cheap tin can from the recycling bin, and the top is from the Walmart knock off of country time lemonade. I finished on can of that off, have another of each of these waiting to see how this comes out.
Also in the picture you can see rivets added to the two last bulkheads I made. And a ziplock bag of crack plastic rivet crack, nothing helps get the riveting juices going like punching a few hundred rivets out of plasticard. You WANT to do something else after 20-30 punches, so you really start thinking.

ah... so the round cardboard rods have been lollipop sticks... who buys these if not for modeling purposes? does anyone really make their own sweets anymore? i bet very few peeps? but this looks very interesting...the supporting pieces have much potential...in fact a bit sad to have them only staring as supportive structures?...
