Not sure of actual imensions of the Death Star, but I wonder if we should have the " Pluto" debate about if its a planet or dwarf planet

I wonder how many space lien races have passed up our solar system since we sent out that golden disc letting them know where we are. I mean really we told them were in a solar system with 9 planets now we have 8 and a couple dwarf planets? We could have had the cure for cancer, space travel, trips to Risa, but no. Now we get nothing because some has to go and get a wild burr up his butt and change the course of history.

On a serious note he wife leaves this morning for a week of cheer camp. That leaves me alone with 2 of our kids, as the oldest will be at grandma and grandpas through Thursday. Whenever she's gone I don't sleep. I toss and urn relentlessly so feel sorry for my kids as i can get grumpy.

i too feel always not complete when one of my kin is not with me...i am at my best when everybody is snug at home with me... i don´t have to party with them or play or watch something in the telly all day... just everybody does their thing and i am on my top level...if someone is missing... i am not whole...

and yep... how come someone has the right to declare that pluto is no planet anymore... we had shortcuts to remember the planets names and positions ...now all obsolete... *shakes fists*
but i think those aliens wouldn´t really be bothered what some (they call themselves) astronoms call a galactic mass...i think if they would like to talk to us... then we would be either talking or battleing already... which shows... nobody is interested in us

Well, to be fair, astronomy as we understand it fundamentally changed within the last 10 years or so. Now we know that planets don't necessarily need a star or even a system. The Hubble and other fancy gadgets have proven this and a bunch of other stuff. Basically every science book needs re-written now.

Is this the point of the conversation where I chip in with science and spoil the fun?

The thing with Pluto the dwarf planet is that there are many other objects in the solar system that are of a comparable size to Pluto and so we either have 8 planets and some other dwarf planets etc... Or we have 15, 20, 50...100+ planets as to include Pluto, we'd have to include all the other Kuiper belt objects of a similar size. So that shortcut to remember all the planets names would get awfully complicated...

And Voyager I is only on the edge of the solar system (the edge of the sun's influence) and so is only a fraction of the way to the nearest star. So it would require the Aliens to bump into Voyager to find it sooner rather than later and if they're near enough to find Voyager then they should be near enough to notice the solar system without needing the "map".

That said it would be quite amusing for a UFO to descend into the capital of whatever India and China become after they've taken over the world (possibly), Hold up the gold disk and say "this has led us here, to your little blue/green planet. We like it and will take it from you puny humans...".

Here I was trying to figure out a two ball combination, just couldn't pull it off.

Just got back from watching iron man 3 at the theatre with the kids. Wife left this morning and won't be back till Friday. It was good, but not as good as the first two, and the scene with Bruce banner at the end just didn't get me as excited as the other cameos. All the suits were neat, but could have done without the kid in the movie.

Far be it for me to break us away from boobs and nipples , especially with the wife out of town, but I saw some bits on the desk and had an idea. Wip as I'm leaving to take oldest to grandmas and all three of them to their yearly physical at the dr.

Any guesses at this early of a stage?

and since the operation clean slate my nerd heart was suitably brusied... all that cool gizmos....argh...

@dave, you too are correct, but the German beat you to it. And you will make an excellent judge in the competition brownie points.

Must still come up with giant stamper idea, but progress.

Control panel had been made a while back, but has now been repurposed for the belt.

Other side showing rivets and removable top for painting later.

No real point to this terrain piece, just saw the parts and had never seen anyone build one before. Figure it might be good cover in a building that was a warehouse.

Well I don't get a full day but six hours of free time is nice

uiiii... i really like that... the belt looks very cool and even high tech... i was expecting the real mccoy rather a real belt... but i like this even more... way more! and the control panel looks business... where is that bit from?
and i agree... very cool cover idea.... in fact more of such devices are needed... i think you should think about sending this to galorn... so he can cast it... you never know... some extra cash for you might be possible?

oh... one thing tho... how about a control stick or a big lever?

The business part as you call it along with the end pieces all came from a GW drop pod. So to resell it would cause issues. Though whole making this I was thinking of how to make more custom versions, which might be mold able.

You want more gadgets on it?
Okay

Also another part from the drop pod. This gives a grabber arm to sort incoming packages, and possibly to shove them onto an adjacent belt.
