As you may recall, THQ exploded and their components sold. SEGA bought Relic, the makers of Company of Heroes and the Dawn of War series. According to the interview, there is a strong possibility that they will be the ones once again working with GW for another Dawn of War game.

Too bad they spread themselves thin in the mid-90s. I much preferred their products over Nintendo as a child.
I like this, but the Blood Ravens need a break. they are FAR to beat up at this point. Like Crimson Fist level 128 marines left sort of beat up. 5 companies got wiped, recruiting worlds in shambles from Tyranid invasion. Chaos corruption riped chapter apart......I love Gabriel Angelos as the seemingly most Incorruptable being in the 40k Universe, and could lead an exodus into the Warp itself and come out with a sane mind sort of stoicism, but the dude needs a break, and that is where he would lead the Chapter since he is just too intelligent and looks at the bigger picture too much not to.
I think many fans of the Series and the 40k Universe might appreciate an IG force highlighted. Give us some Vahallan Ice Warriors or something as the main faction in the next game, and give us a story and controls similar to the second game.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh....and I'm, not saying don't include the Blood Marines, but much like in Winter Assault, the focus can be elsewhere for a game.

As awful as Boreale's speech was, most of the voice actors in the Dawn of War games are pretty good. DoW2 has great voice acting, and DoW1's is generally good with some great campiness in it. Most of the bad voice acting comes from Soulstorm, which was a lousy expansion anyway.
On topic, I'd love to see DoW3. Sega publishes the Total War games, so it's not like this will be the first strategy game developer under their wing. Sega got the rights to make GW licensed games a little while ago anyway (namely Fantasy with Creative Assembly, the Total War developers), so I think Dawn of War 3 is definitely in the cards.

Eh... I believe it was only the 1st company (or elements there of) that got fully corrupted. I don't think they lost 5 companies worth of marines. Unless i've missed something.

Most people will be refering to Idrick Boreale and his super lisp from DoW:SS. Others may also be refering to Apollo Diomedes and his "It is the baneblade!" line which is also rather amusing.
Good to hear DoW3 is still a possibility. I'd really like them to beef out the Tau. The Shas'o was good in Last Stand and it would be great if they expanded on it.

.
The 5 companies lost were from Soulstorm. That was a disastrous campaign and they taken down to half strength before the Tyranids even invaded. That's why I feel Relic has over done it just a tad and should ease off the Blood Ravens for a bit.

Last sentence of the second paragraph in the "Recent Years" section
Well now you see i didn't realise they lost that badly in soulstorm. Come to think of it i'm not even sure now whether i fully beat SS....
The canon ending, I recall, is the Guard win in Soulstorm, but the Ravens got butchered.
I'd like for Dawn of War to take a new plot direction, and perhaps use the Blood Ravens for the next Space Marine game instead, if it ever comes to fruition. Say as more of an action RPG ala Mass Effect or something as you try and rebuild the chapter amongst plots, chaos, tyranids and whatnot. Just an idea.
Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I hope if they go back to do another DOW it is more like the first series and not the 2nd . I didn't get the point of the 2nd DOW campaign I felt like i was playing on a scaletric track
, admittedly i stopped after the 2nd level because i couldn't envisage the point to the game. It was way to linear : move here, move here, do this, totally not fun.
Plus less marines with their ponsy crap and more orks.

I would kill to see a interesting combination of armies in the next DoW game.. not the standard marines/orks/eldar/etc
I would kill for the following:
Grey Knights
Tau
Necrons
Chaos Deamons
Grey knights, hunting down a human in the tau empire (who's in league with deamons, bla, bla, bla)... then while fighting the tau, Necrons invade...after fighting both the Tau and the Necrons, boom! A breach in real space and chaos deamons as the final enemy. Simple plot and lots of fun and variance in the armies (Hyper Elite GK, Horde type Chaos Deamons, Durable Generalist Necrons and Long Range Tau)

My Youtube channel. "What is a Belmont? A miserable pile of whips and sub-weapons."
Whilst I agree to some extent SS, it really needs to be anchored a tad more, say, with at least proper Chaos, who favor a particular god, like slaneesh, so you get Noise Marines, all the associated demons, and just a finer direction. Replace Necrons with Vostroyans and I'm with ya.
So the aesthetics shift, but you still have many of the core components needed to draw people in to play.
Dawn of War - Blood Ravens (only ending anyway)
Winter Assault - Eldar
Dark Crusade - Blood Ravens win, finishing off IG last
Soul Storm - IG or Eldar. Was never specified to my knowledge
Dawn of War 2 - Blood Ravens
Chaos Rising/Retribution - Avitus is the traitor mid-game, Pure ending more or less. Great Father Azariah Vidya is corrupted. Gabriel Angelos is Chapter Master(was there any doubt for those of us who played the first game that he wasn't corrupted?) As to which parts of the rest are canon, who knows.

IG won Soulstorm.
Winter Assault actually had IG win as well, because Sturnn apparently survived.
I agree with putting Blood Ravens in the next Space Marine title and a new chapter in the next DoW. It would be really awesome to see a chapter that gets little love from GW get the spotlight in a game.... Iron Hands! Endless opportunities there.
JSF wrote:... this is really quite an audacious move by GW, throwing out any pretext that this is a game and that its customers exist to do anything other than buy their overpriced products for the sake of it. The naked arrogance, greed and contempt for their audience is shocking.
I am of the opinion the Blood Ravens should get a Mass Effect type game as well. A quest to discover their true origin. My best guesses are they are a fragmented piece of the Thousand Sons Chapter, or they are simply one of the esponged chapters. At any rate, it would be awesome to dive into this story in a lot of depth.
Oh, and the game better allow for multiplayer DURING the campaign.

The Eldar forces in Dark Crusade are the same forces in Winter Assault including the leader. Eldar ending is the canon ending. I'm 100% positive.
