Yes, BAO Format, which you can read here: http://www.frontlinegaming.org/community/bay-area-open/warhammer-40000-championships-rules-scenarios-and-prizes/

It is the same format we will use for all of our events to make it easy for people to travel to them. You only need one army built and painted, and you will know exactly what you're getting, every time. Also, the latest version of the tournament FAQ will be out very soon, too answering some of the questions from the recent books.

@Largo39

Unfortunately no, not this year. We only have a very limited space this year and can fit only 32 40K players with a 2 day event.

That said, we are thinking about taking an idea from The Golden Throne tournament, and running a team event concurrently with the singles event as they are so fun.

What I mean by that is you will play in the singles event on your own, but you can register as a team. The team that does the best by combining their scores will be the top team! We would also do the costume contest as well as those are so much fun.

That's not set in stone yet, but I am leaning towards it at this point.

Is there an ETA of when tickets will go on sale? Where's the best place to keep an eye on that, should we email you/frontline to get a notified when they go on sale?

The way we negotiated tickets for the event is this. You will buy your con pass through their website and your 40K event ticket through our website at Frontline Gaming. The 40K tournament will cost $10.

The Con registration is $55 for a 2 day pass, which I imagine most of you guys will get, but it is $65 for a 4 day pass for those interested.

I am now just waiting on the contract to be drafted and sent to me to be signed and executed. Once that happens, I will put tickets up for sale and it is game on.

For getting your badge and getting into the event, Saturday morning I will be out front of the con at 8am, so you guys will be able to see me and get situated and I will hook you guys up with your badge. The con opens at 10am, and we will get rolling at probably 10:30 or 10:45.

The con runs until 2am that night, too, so you will have plenty of time to check stuff out.

Most people register for and get their badges Wednesday through Friday, so their should be minimal line by Saturday. Plus, like I said, I will be out there early to get everyone registered and good to go.

This is very tempting but a $65 price tag is rather hefty right now for me. We will see.

The tournament is only $11, the con admission is $55 to $65 depending on the badge you get.

And if you have never been to a huge con like this, it is hard to understand. They are CRAZY and a lot of fun. There is so much other stuff to see and do going on, you really do get your money's worth from the con badge.

Oh I love going to big Cons, Ive been to many in my life. Its not justifying the price, its Im not sure about future income so $65 is a good chunk of change. But if I can swing it I will.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

$55 for a 2 day convention badge
$11 for the 40k tournament
$20+ for 2 days of parking.

So $86 with food and drink+gas you are looking at $100.00 for the weekend.

Yeah, LA has pretty decent public transportation, contrary to popular belief.

When it comes down to it I am willing to pay more to play in a smaller tournament than a larger one. I don't do well in larger fields; so the smaller the field, at least for me, the better my chances of winning! Right?

That is true, actually as you have less rounds of play to go through. However, the opposite is true if the field is strong as it means you are more likely to play harder games.

Well this is going to be my first tournament and the first time I'll be playing people outside my circle of friends. I don't even have much of a competitive list, my army consists of models I like, rules be damned. So you'll have at least one noob to kick around. i just couldn't pass up the double wammy of AX and a 40k tournament.

Too true, if it isn't at Game Empire we seem to find ourselves everywhere else in Pasadena at the same times.
