This is something I have seen many times in posts on dakka, but I don't know where it comes from. It isn't in the BRB section on chariots or on marching. Is it army specific or an old edition or am I missing something?

It says in the chariot section under split profile. Chariots cannot march.

Funnily enough it means tomb king chariots don't take tests for moving through terrain

That's true of every chariot. None of them can march.

I know just in an army wide march block it just seems more amusing somehow

What about the new Skycutter for HE? It is a flying chariot, would it only be able to move 10 inches and not able to use the extra 10 move? If so, then I just going to stick with my Lions and Tiranocs.

Flying chariots do feel a bit awkward, don't they? Especially when they've got guns on them ... At least the HE one has a bolt thrower, the DOC burning chariot's weapons are drunkenly short-ranged

Sir Blayse - thats why you cast the HE spell on them that lets them move an extra 10"or 20"....

I would hope that now with the option for "Flying" chariots GW will make a ruling that the no march rule would only apply if they are not flying.

Otherwise, you're only getting a minor bonus to have these. One plus would be being able to leap over units to get a charge, but your not really able to take out enemy war machines or rear units.

I'm not a big fan of "shooting" chariots.

Or they should allow Chariots to march and be fast like they're supposed to.

Daemons and vampires both had flying chariots when the 8th edition rules were written.
You're going to have to hope for 9th edition for 20" flying chariots.

Yeah, the lack of speed with Chariots relaly baffles me...I mean, a Chariot is as fast as a big chunk of footslogging infantry...which just doesn't sound right to me.

Gorebeast Chariot is slower than marching infantry - as slow as marching dwarves. Madness.

Why, a ten inch move is huge for a chariot compared to most other chariots. A flying chariot is quite good enough, you dont need any more buffs on it.

Going from 8" to 10" isn't that great.
I was most disappointed with the Black Coach not marching. So little in the army can march, it would be really nice if flying coach could (especially since it doesn't fly until very late in the game anyway).

My beastmen would love a chariot with a 10" move, it would make them worth taking because then the chariots could keep up with the marching infantry and support them.

I dont have much sympathy for the fact that the elf chariot cannot get from its deployment zone to the opposite table edge in 2 turns. Say if you go first, it is like asking to be able to charge an enemy warmachine after they have had 1 turn of shooting before you charge them, plus you have your own shooting warmachine in their back field. That is asking a bit much for a chariot when you have plenty of other flying options.
