Im wondering which chapter would be the worst to have at your side as an ally?
A few days ago I would have said DA for disappearing in the middle of a campaign to chase fallen but im currently reading wrath of iron (not finished it yet) and have now decided it would be the iron hands. Anyone else have any suggestions for bad space marine allies?

The Flesh Tearers have a very real chance of going insane and murdering you during the battle.
The Minotaurs might also murder you, but won't be insane while doing it.
I would vote for the Marines Malevolent though, who most certainly would murder you, from miles away with artillery, while twirling their mustaches.

Good points, I would add the Space Wolves in as well due to the ancient adage. The best way to get a Space Wolf to do something you want, is to tell him not to do it. They are that bad and high-strung.
Also the Black Templars must be awful to work with. They are basically a bunch of religious fanatics, make one misstep in front of them and you and the rest of your mates are crucified.

Actually, going by Helsreach, the Black Templars are awesome to work with.
That religious doctrine apparently makes them very humble by Marine standards, fething Helbrecht, Grimaldus, and the Emperor's Champion actually thrust their weapons into the dirt and kneeled before the Imperial Guard general on Armageddon, pledging their service to the defense of the planet. Grimaldus, when he temporarily loses his temper amongst the mortals working with him, actually apologizes for doing so, etc.

Point taken VD. I see they still have the Imperial Fists in them. The Imperial Fists must be the best chapter to work with as a mere mortal, as they lack the arrogance of almost any Space Marines, and it was sort of a crowning moment of heartwarming reading about Grimaldus first loosing his temper and then apologizing to mere mortals. That sounds so awesome.

That would be my Marines Malevolent , allies are just statistics waiting to happen, they don't care about the how, only the results matter.
One of the reasons I decided to make a force of them and focus on a purely practical look for them...even "gasp" camo!

Either Marines Malevolent or Dark Angels.
MM because they are just evil. Seriously, they aren't even "I don't like humans" level, they are way beyond that. I'm surprised they aren't Excommunicate Traitoris yet.
Dark Angels: They aren't "evil", are honourable and serve the IoM and the God-Emperor but man, if they hear there's a rumour of a Fallen, "feth this gak guys, you can handle this Ork WAAAAG! all by yourselves. Bye, bye".

The Marines Malevolent are not Excommunicato because they have a exemplary battle record, they may be total D-bags to deal with..but they get results, and that's what the lords of terra truly care about.
Its the other space marine chapters that complain about the MM lack of brotherly conduct with other chapters, I kinda suspect the MM will be something like the minotaurs when/if they ever get fleshed out a bit, a chapter used to do the worst dirty work of the HLOT.
(of course the battle record statement is only based on what very little info is available online about them. )

The Marines Malevolent are merely practicing what the Imperium and the Inquisition have always stated: any means and any cost justifies the end when it ensures the survival of humanity.
It is ironic then the negative feelings both in and out of universe towards them given that they are actually the epitome of what the Imperium is about, more so than the Ultramarines. Remember this is an Imperium that sacrifices worlds, suppresses and rewrites history, enforces rigid social hierarchies with vast inequality in wealth, and sterilizes entire planetary populations. The Marines Malevolent not caring about civilian hostages is just following standard policy.

I'd vote for the Flesh Tearers. Marines Malevolent are extremely ruthless and arrogant, and regard allies as expendable, but even if you got stuck with them as allies they wouldn't turn on you after the battle (they'd probably look on you with total contempt, however). The Flesh Tearers, on the other hand, might kill the enemy then still be so berserk they try to eat you or something.

Damn I have really got to read this book.
I imagine, even though they never give up and are very courageous, I imagine the Lamenters would just be so unlucky you couldnt count them as an ally.
Overall I believe it depends on the chapter which is the one asking for allies. Chapters who favour tactic above all will have a hard time working with the likes of the Templars who would rather all die and avenge their fallen then retreat, or the Minotaurs who will have a temporal loss of care for their safety and widly charge into the front lines of the enemy.
Edit: Oh wow, reading about the Marines Malevolent, that must have been some tense moment between a MM and a Salamander.

They'd probably win the battle then accidentally back the Land Raider over the planetary governor during the victory parade.

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."
Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? No one, Vulkan. None of them will come. You are simply not that important. You are alone.’ Konrad Curze to Vulkan

Depend on who you are, for an extremists inquisitor or militant SM chapter, a chapter like the Salamanders or Ultramarines. Tu'Shan nearly went fething insane during the war for Armageddon when another chapter master bombed an area with civilians to kill some orks.
For most groups though Flesh Tearers or Minotaurs.
I'd say Minotaurs are the worst, although the fleshtearers may be far more violent, Seth at least tries to keep them away from allied forces. Minotaurs don't care at all, it's their way or die.
