My wounds from modelling are quite a few:

Glued my hand shut with superglue.
Glued my hand to a model. Removed a lot of skin.
Constantly stabbing myself with a VERY sharp hobby knife, and I do mean CONSTANTLY.

And though not a physical wound, I have ingested a good amount of Windex from licking my paintbrushes. I used Windex to revive old dried paints

Wow. I feel lucky never having cut myself beyond the minor slices... I always cut away from myself, and in the off chance I have to cut towards myself, I usually will intentionally put glue on my thumb. Once it dries, it's usually tough enough to resist an accidental cut. Of course if I were to put force behind it it would go right through, but I'm very careful when shaving parts off of plastic. I'm now afraid to go work on my Marines after reading this thread...

My right hand thumb has a vertical scar right down the middle, from using an Xacto knife to cut bits off the sprue. A good pair of clippers was one of the best modelling investments I ever made, has been years since I reopened the old wound.

The first day I tried painting warhammer stuff I tried cutting the captain off his sprue with a scalpel and not five minutes later I had that same scalpel sticking out of my thumb. Since then my hands have been burned, skinned, stabbed, sliced and covered in various kinds of glue.

And even though Bucas injury was gruesome the mention of cutting through the webbing between your fingers with scissors gets a bigger cringe from me.

I'm right handed but I prefer to type one handed with my left, with the right on the mouse. Have you considered getting one of these:

I know with the left handed version I can reach about 35wpm , not the fastest but still considerable.

I first got into 40k when 2nd Ed was released. Every summer my brother and I spent 2-3 weeks at my nans house on the east coast, near Great Yarmouth. We were very excited about gaming every day and spending those long summer afternoons slapping paint on the minis. The first night I woke up to take a pee, swung my legs out of the bed and hopped down, right onto a 10 man unit of Gretchin. You know the ones, the Grots wearing those WW1 Kaiser helmets... Cue screaming and blood, and not being able to walk properly for a few days because the spikes on the helmets had snapped off and embedded themselves in my feet.

Id have to say this is the most mentally scarring thread yet, kudos!
My worst would was when first getting into the hobby. While putting together a number of genestealers I left the xacto on the table while gluing them together. The knife rolls off the table and I instinctively go to catch it with my legs.... wound up with the xacto sticking straight out of my leg blade buried all the way in my leg.... so naturally I screamed and promptly passed out due to the sight of blood and the fact I was 10 years old. I had to use safety scissors until I was 12 from then on

I use a laptop, so I keep my thumb on the mouse pad whilst typing with my fingers, occasionally moving my thumb up to hit the space bar or something. Though that could be a good investment for the inevitable future injury.

she has glued her right elbow to the bayonet, her left palm to the back, and the tube of super glue to a lock of her hair, never underestimate the power of super glue, you have to earn its trust before you build with it.

as for me, i cut the thick meaty part below your thumb down the bone, not too bad considering some of these other entries but left a pretty decent scar...

So far I've just cut myself a bit with the hobby saw. Surprised it wasn't worse, considering I was using it on something that was probably too tiny for it. Reading this thread, I got off easy.

But I'm sure I'll have a grievous wound to call my own sooner or later...

Myself just various scrapes and cuts nothing too serious, but my friend was once working on his imperial guard, next thing I hear is, "Well Goddamnit now I can't go shooting" (friend was huge gun lover), I turn around to see basically a red facet coming out of his hand, I ask if he needs a bandage and he says no he will take care of it, next thing I know hes fashioned a rudimentary bandaide out of an old sprue, a sock, and newspaper.. I cant make this gak up

I've cut the top of my left thumb off while carving the storm bolter off the old marine captain.

Stabbed both thrumbs dozens of times while carving models. (Most recently trimming hair off Sophie the Succubus)

Super Glue in my eye while building Tyranids. Almost killed myself and several friends while making a gaming table. (Heat guns and styrofoam don't mix)

Glued both hands to a 3rd Ed. Hive Tyrant. I'm sure I've injured myslef dozens of other times in this hobby.

I refused to go with a wing stuck on my hand to school. What will people think - it was not even painted. Jokes beside. It had melted a bit of my skin - yes industrial strength super glue and it was diffiult explaining to my mum.

I've slashed myself plenty of times but my most impressive wound was the result of a freakish accident. I tend to use my lap as an additional work area, and I didn't notice a certain needle file there as I tried to get up from my desk. I turned and started walking when the file bounced on the floor. My bare foot happened to catch the file point just right, driving the point deep into the ball of my foot. I tripped in pain, and noticed the now broken file missing 1/2 inch of length. I couldn't believe the file tip was actually still lodged in my foot, so I went to work.

Needless to say, the pain continued, so when I got home I tested my foot...yup, a magnet stuck right to my foot! The doctor in the emergency room worked up quite a sweat extracting that sucker, and my foot has numbness to this day.

No serious injuries while working.
Just the usual cuts, slices and random objects stuck to me.

While i try to cut away, its not allways possible and i find it easier to cut towards myself
Bit of super glue over it and its fine though.

Thankfully, I'm a pretty careful person now, but I do still have a very faint scar from my first and only major injury. I was cleaning up some Tau bits for my first Broadside kit, I pressed the knife too violently, and it slipped and went about half an inch into my pinky. Wound up with three stitches because of it.

I get the usual "superglue finger to something else" from time to time (usually a space marine head ) but that's hardly major.

Sorry, but this is one of those things that has to be said.

Why didn't you go to the emergency room straight away? It's not like 1/2 inch of metal rod is just going to naturally fall out of a gaping hole in your foot.

This one is almost as bad as Sir Buca's - warning, this will make you cringe.

I was trimming flash off some resin bits for my GK conversion one night after the wife went to bed (I worked nights @ the time). It was rather late & I was getting sleepy. I was in my boxers & things were.. how should I put it.. 'hanging loose'. I use a Testors X-acto knife, the handle is all metal & it has a bit of weight to it. Brand new blade too.

I finished the last piece & the blade was angled down & the knife slipped out of my hand - again, point down, sharp side away from me - and buried itself into my scrotum between the boys.. I screamed & jerked causing the handle to fall forward, creating an incision about a 1/2" deep & 1" long as it fell forward.

Worst part was the local anesthetic they had to administer to the area for the 4 stitches. Dr. said I was lucky I didn't sever any of the working parts & give myself a home vasectomy.

I don't model w/o pants anymore.
