I just needed to vent. Goddamn.
I just posted on PP's forums that I thought a model was too expensive.
The post was deleted, but someone had already quoted it.
I posted, asking why. By the time I finished, the post with the quote was deleted.
Then, when I went to edit the quote, the post I was editing was deleted.
None of these had any record of "post deleted" or "post edited"
Seriously, PP, stop being so creepy.

Apparently because people were reporting your posts. I believe that that was mentioned in the thread

The difference between what I finally had "approved" and before was, other than detail, the fact that I could make the model for $3 + my bits bin. I'd be surprised if that offended people other than PP's wallets.
I guess a lot of it is the two-facedness of a lot of PP's moderation: aggressive but defending PP is tolerated. I didn't feel at all that I was aggressive in what I was saying, but criticism (regardless of tone) is frequently not tolerated.

Complaints about price are still up there. Comments of people who aren't a fan of the model are still up there (though if you're talking about Axis, a lot of people really love the model, and I think it looks pretty sweet, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder).
Edit: just noticed your posts were about the Gobber Tinkerer, and it's all still there. What, exactly, got edited? Might be easier to judge it all in that context. The part about making it yourself was a bit over the top, but that's actually still there, and it sounds like you got edited out when you were arguing with another forum member, nothing to do with your comments about PP.

Instead of asking in a thread why your posts were deleted, you could PM a mod or Simon and ask why the actions were taken. This is the way that people are instructed to handle a situation like that.
It's kind of like posting another thread asking why your previous thread was deleted.

The first post that was deleted was something along the lines of,
I'd rather spend $3 and a little creativity than spend a ton just to have the official model.
The second was my later comment about age, and asking why my stuff was deleted
And, I don't want to get into a personal conversation with the mods there, because I already think they're smarmy and distrust them, so would rather be further from them.
I could leave the PP forums, which I did for a while some time ago, but they have better tactical discussion, just hate the yes man attitude of any thread with an opinion.

So you should limit yourself to post in tactics discussions. Seriously, no aggression intended. Get what you like there, and ignore the rest.
It's their forum, the official one, so it's to be expected that some "heavy" moderation could happen on some subjects. And to be honest, there isn't so much, too. I've very recently opened a thread ranting on how much I hate assembling certain models of theirs (a wise choice indeed, but I was very frustrated ^^) and while there was kinda of general blame on me in the replies, I wasn't shitstormed as I would had expected and instead got some pretty useful advice.

If you post to ask why something was deleted, it gets deleted. That's how they do it over there, and I'm sure they're not the only website with that policy.

@Gabbi, yeah, that's kinda' what I'm thinking.
@oomie, while I'm sure it isn't the only one, it's the only gaming forum I've been on that I've had posts disappeared without a trace (rather than with a "post edited by mod" or a "OT posts were deleted" comment)
Found out what it was 'cause I got an infraction. Turns out that I apparently implied that people who don't convert or paint models are bad people when I said that some people would be willing to pay a lot but I was going to convert mine. Hardly agree with it, but at least they said something.

If the whole War Room subforum didn't exist I might agree But I don't think their moderation is heavy-handed. They don't lock threads just for criticizing, just when the posts break rules or start arguing in circles.

PP boards are generally pretty positive, but they're also generally enforced that way. Very little of a dissenting opinion is tolerated.
I had a buddy buy a Stormstrider. For those familiar with 'first run' PP huge-based resin models, oftentimes there's glaring flaws with the figures, like missing or badly casted pieces. This seems entirely due to QC suffering a bit as they have to get a big batch of models done to satisfy innitial demand.
He put up a post saying 'hey, why does my $90+ model suck so much?' (and it really was terrible. The upper metal decking was borderline unusable and it took what I would call 'extensive' cleaning/filling to make it playable) and got banned from the forums. Not just post-deleted, his account/IP was banned for life.
So... consider yourself lucky? As to your OP, yes, the PP forums are heavily moderated and there is a very abundant white knight population with many quick catchphrase responses to pretty much everything.

For some reason I doubt he got banned for the one post unless he was flaming very over the top.
So yea.. probly good he got banned :p
And to the OP.
They delete threads complaining about price, they have a model to price their units.
They don't just say This model will cost this because he looks cool.
There is some way they do it by complexity x Amount of Materials x Amount of molds it takes etc etc.

Yeah, this is pretty much exactly the mindset of the PP forums. To the ramparts, men! Strap on your white armor and draw your shining swords!
No, he was actually even-handedly criticizing the inferior quality of his $90+ model. His 'tone' was far, far less flamey than what we encounter here on Dakka with regards to GW on a near-daily basis.

I just don't see it.
There have been many Flamey posts on PP Forums that people didn't get banned.
So I just find it hard to believe he was polite and a first offence criticizing a model
And yes, all pricing threads get removed instantly. They set a price its not up for discussion.

Except your not stating an openion, your stating someone got banned for 1 post complaining about quality.
When the forums had many of those posts, and I had made one also and never got anymore then a removed post.
If you want to say Mods are stricter then Dakka Mods, I would say yes.
But I would not believe the fact you can get banned over 1 post complaining about quality.

Well if this bit is any indication of the tone of his OP then I can see why it would be locked, but looking at a thread like:
http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?160051-A-plastic-lament
Where someone is openly criticizing PP products and it's not locked, perhaps there's more to the story than you saw? I highly doubt they would ban someone after one post.

Also, first run Stormstriders didn't have metal decking, they had resin decks. Discovered that it didn't take much heat during shipping for those to warp quite badly and it was later runs that switched to metal decks.
And yeah, I really doubt a single offense would get you a lifetime ban unless it was seriously over the top.

Well, cool to hear that I'm not the only one out there who's sick of the white-knighting (which for some reason seems to infect all PP discussion, with the difference of language and not tone elsewhere).
I feel like I've had similar experiences. I've been censured a few times by PP over the years, and only one of them actually felt mostly deserved (kind of aggressively made fun of their bad writing), and it feels like there's absolutely nothing taken into account regarding general even-handedness if there's one thing they don't like (ever).
