Mounting the Heavy Bolter like that makes that model look 100% better than the standard GW kit.
What chapter are they going to be? Pre-Heresy Dark Angels scheme or something else?

What chapter are they going to be? Pre-Heresy Dark Angels scheme or something else? DA fast attack choices are painted Black, both pre- and post- Heresy.
And I have to agree about the H.Bolters, I've been pondering how to modify the kit myself and this has helped

I know, it just seemed daft to have three marines riding in a single vehicle, with one having the only task of shooting the gun.
Err, they're Ravenwing, 2nd Company is Black. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, in b4 someone says 'drill the barrels' I don't have a drill. Lend me one?

I love the sinister, black, unyielding impression it gives off. Prejudice. That's my vote.
If you hit up your local hardware store you can probably find one on the cheap. I got a pin vise for six bucks and a set of drill bits for eight. Barring that, if you at least put a dot of black on the barrels, it will keep some people from making the obligatory barrel-drilling comments. Personally, I was always reluctant to drill them out, since even the 'Eavy Metal team can't consistently get gun barrels drilled out evenly.

Oof Prejudice is very good, but as Dark Angel naming conventions go it has to be two words. Also, seeing how the Darkshrouds hold pieces of old Caliban, they'd probably have names corresponding to the parts of Caliban they're from ( Vengeance for ____ , Remembrance of ______ ) I can't think of any Caliban locations off hand, however.

Yep, Ruined City Fight from Micro Art Studios. It's actually for Infinity ( there's a wrecked Jotun Cuirassier on the ground) but works just as well for 40k. Did someone say Crossover?

Looking good, although a little plain. I think adding some white accents to it in various places would make it a little more dynamic. It looks like a giant black blob as it is.

That's just the photograph, it's pretty extensively highlighted IRL.

Hehe, nice one. How about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?
Kidding aside, something about the model suggested the words "Furious Retribution" to my mind. Or I just might be hearing voices. It has been known to happen. Because Prejudice is a great name as well.
The model is well painted and nicely highlighted without looking to grey, which is usually a problem with black vehicles. ^^ Kudos!

I don't think its lack of highlighting, because even in the pic we can see you did a good job highlighting it. It just look like a giant black blob, lol. Maybe soem bone or green thrown in there, or even red? I know GWs painters break up the 'black blob' syndrome pretty good.
Good paintjob regardless, just needs something to make it 'pop'.

Looking good! I suggest "Zealous Prejudice" or "Righteous Aura" (given what the Darkshroud does).
Or... y'know... "Flying Church".

The original model is just too goofy with the guy sitting in that front turret. You really did a solid by getting rid of him. Since you have experience assembling it, is it possible to use a normal Land Speeder front and have the guy sit in the passanger seat like normal? I can't get myself to buy one of those without being able to do that.
Some others suggested more colors to it, here are my thoughts; White for the wings of the hooded figures holding up the middle piece, also red heavy bolter.

Well it is supposed to be a Giant Black Blob really, from fluff pictures and ingame (it's giving off some sort of shrouding field.) Also I'm limiting my army to a strict three colour palette (red, metals, black).

Thanks, although I can't imagine anything called 'The Darkness' without imagining Justin Hawkins in front of a giant pair of comedy breasts. Also, it's kind of literal. Encroaching Darkness isn't too bad. Hmm.

Prejudice is inherently zealous, it really needs a antonym in front to give it bite, like Sublime Prejudice or Immaculate Prejudice. I really like Sublime Prejudice actually, it sounds quite Culture.
Righteous Aura is a bit too literal as well, and I don't think the DA really take too much pleasure in Righteousness as a concept.

Could be the jokey nickname the biker-jocks of the Ravenwing call it informally! Good idea.

Yes, three marines a speeder was more than I could stomach.
The shroud isn't a normal land speeder kit, it's like 25% bigger and isn't compatible with the land speeder kit without some extensive modification.
I could red-up the heavy bolter, but in my Ravenwing having red bolters is only for trainee/novice bikers/inductees, when they graduate to fully fledged Ravenwing pilots they can paint their bolters black. I guess I could white up the wings, but currently I like the stone effect they have- also every other wing in my army is white already, it's a nice break.
Pride and Prejudice made me laugh out loud... since the DA would probably have little to no knowledge of Jane Austen, it would be quite likely they'd name one of their vehicles just that.
Sublime Prejudice is the current front runner, but does anybody know location names from Caliban? Can't seem to find any in my HH DA novels (this is how poorly they're written.)

I've found that what works for me to make sure that the hole is centered properly is to make a starter hole with a push pin that you use on cork boards for notes and such. I also drill out the muzzle brake holes on the sides first so I don't have that much to drill through on the front of the barrel.
