So after many hours of 40K and Capt'n Morgan, me and my friends started a brainstorming session on building a 40k table for a friend's daughter's slaneshi daemonhost. We decided, since his prescious little girl was involved, that we would build the terrain to be....drum roll please....Candyland. peppermint trees, jawbreaker boulders to hide behind, hedges of ribbon candy... the whole 9 yards. This monrning, after the headache subsided, I started to wonder about the sanity of this idea, seeing as his 24 year old child might not be so ammused. This brings me to my point of inquiry, what is the most "what the heck are you thinking?!?" ideas you guys have had, and did you ever follow through. PS: I'll post up a follow along as we build the Candyland Table...

I think a Candyland table would be pretty fantastic and can't wait to see that come to fruition.

Since I'm pretty new to the sport I havent had many crazy ideas yet, but the one I think would be funny would be to see a couple looted Monoliths. Since the power would long be gone they would be pulled by grots with long ropes.

If his daughter is 24, I can see that she might not be at all pleased or interested. She's not a 5 year old, after all.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Merry nurglemass! Ho Ho Ho . The sleigh slides smoothly across the battlefield on a trail of slime from the two beasts. Bringing the gifts of rot, plauge, and diesese to all the good little boys and girls in the old world.

I made a Blood Bowl team out of Space Marines once. They had the same rules as a regular human team. they all had no shoulderpads (can't remember the logic behind it). It was pretty lame.

kinda related. Kinda not.

I found it immensely humorous in 5th edition when anything touched a tank and it could no longer shoot, which was ridiculous by the way, i had the stupid idea that the marines inside would get incredibly angry and flap the guns frantically in an attempt to hurt the assaulting unit.

I also had the humorous concept of building a bush with loads of assault marines tangled up in it having failed their dangerous terrain tests.

That Candyland is awesome, I would love to have that!
And she will probably enjoy it too..

Timeline of the average kid:
01-12: Enjoying childish stuff.
13-18: Puberty kicks in, we have to act cool and dislike childish things.
19 and up: Candyland rocks, so does Disney!

It's the average though.

Local fella brought out his Helldrake for the first time, and called it "Cuddles", for some unknown reason.

Maybe Raege was involved. I dunno.

Anyway, we all took it and ran with it, eventually suggesting that Cuddles carry a blanket in one talon, and a little purse with a dog in the other.

Another guy is doing his Riptides with a Gundam paint scheme. Probably been done before.

We made the Gay Necron Monolith night club after a failed experiment dry brushing midnight blue over a black base.It turned light fuschia, so we decided what the heck and put in a disco ball instead of the crystal. Then we added an old He-man action figure posing on the top, then we added some glitter and called it a day.

I just love it when some random model Denies the Witch. It's like how? A firm telling off?

Anyway, We painted a small Squadron of Imperial Guard bright pink, Then gave the Commisar a handbag to replace his Powersword.

My eldar are painted skull white and warlock purple. It looked really good on the dawn of war paint editor.

I now have about 14kish of eldar that people look at and say 'pink!?'

I get a lot of double takes when I play in public...

However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.

Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Currently thinking seriously about building "land battleships" for my boyz. They'll have special rules for fun scenarios, but the rest of the time work as Battlewagons with a krew of Tankbustas or Lootas for dakka and of course, a MegaBoss as Arch-Admiral. They probably won't be any harder to make than standard battlewagons either (a ship hull is waaay easier than making good wheels), just maybe needing a few more materials.

I have Dr Who Daleks for my Necrons. I use them as warriors or immortals or sometimes I only bring 2 to use as Cryteks w/ abyssal staves.

My friend is building his space wolves w/ a thunder cats theme. They are riding cats instead of wolves. His HQ will bs a Liono and a Panthro. His Land Raider is a Thunder tank. I told him he needs a Cheetara but he won't listen as Space Marines don't have women.

Why not just ask her if she wants a crazy Candy Land terrian before hand so the time isn't wasted and everyone isn't upset?

This seems like a great timeline for females.

For males it looks more like:

Not entirely; many kids are scared by loud sounds of gunfire and explosions. That and I don't know any kid who can pound shot after shot of capin Mo' and still be coherent enough to move 1-inch figures.

I'm thinking that a candy land table for Slaneesh would actually be pretty fluffy. Watch the "Meet the Pyro" video for Team Fortress 2 and it makes sense. The Slaneesh deamons are so drugged out of their minds they think the world is a giant land filled with laughter and candy. While a deamonette thinks she is picking the petals off a flower, she's really tearing the ears off a grot. Gives a pretty funny spin to the grim darkness of the dark and grim.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."
