I voted for Elysians but I wanted to vote for any drop regiment. Every other regiment has armored support and a front line to work with. Drop Regiments gravchute into hostile territory, completely surrounded. Then they have to fight their way out. Without Tanks and Artillery. Just my opinion.

Trying to argue combat capabilities is just meaningless, since they change so rapidly based entirely on the narrative taking place at that moment. So I'm going to judge based purely on aesthetics, and for me the Mordians and the Death Korps are the champions, for completely opposite reasons. Mordians represent the anachronistic nature of 40k warfare and the importance placed on style over substance, and the Death Korps exemplify the grit and despair of humans struggling against forces powerful beyond their comprehension.

So little votes for the Tallarn and First born and rough riders, out of all the Imperial regiments their the closest ones to being warriors as opposed to soldiers

I'm going out on a limb and say each of the listed regiments is the best somewhere. The overall most elite would probably be the Storm Trooper regiment, as Beaviz81 mentioned.

But I'm going to vote for the coolest. Literally.

Krieg.

Always Krieg.

I'm also very fond of Mordians (It's either them, from Victoria Lamb, or plastic steel legion if they are a thing to replace my cadians), but that's mostly aesthetics.

In terms of combat capacity, the Cadians, as has been said many times, are one of only a handful of guard organizations able to do everything well. They won't fight a siege as well as the Krieg, they don't drop as well as Elysians, or have the same mobility as the Steel Legion, but they can do *everything* well.

If they actually had decent looking models, I'd happily field my guard as Cadians or one of the numerous cadian copies. Remember, almost every Guard regiment without its own martial history to draw upon fights in the "cadian pattern."

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I'll vote. Mordians. They're just so well dressed, no other regiment brings such class to the battlefield.

It's hard to pinpoint, they each specialise differently.

Lasgun to my head? I'll back Mordians. Such well-dressed, disciplined, couldn't-care-less-what-the-enemy-brings badassery is just awesome.

Well technically it's a penal legion, not a regiment.

Hammer of the Emperor (supplement for Only War) has the Last Chancers as a Regiment.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I'd reckon the Steel Legion. They all have the protection and mobility afforded by the Chimera and have been facing what are probably the worst Ork Waaaghs in recent times for a while, which would probably mean that they'd be pretty tough and experienced fighters.

If I had to pick one on there it'd be krieg, if I had to say one you didn't mention, I'd pick the Olympian guard, because I like the backstory of their insane bravery coming from a need to atone for the betrayal of the iron warriors (Olympia was their pre-heresy home world)

Edit: 902nd Valhallan rifles are by far the awesome at whilest still being the most tragic. The average life expectancy from the time a recruit joins them is LITTERALLY 15 hours! They are currently defending the city of bucheroc which is besieged by hundreds of millions of orks because of its countless promethium refineries / mines and fuel reserves. Not to mention the orks they are fighting have a boss smart enough to build trenches and precede assaults with hour long artillery bombardments. Not to mention bucheroc gets to be in the -30s in winter and over 100 degrees in summer making it probably the most brutal deployment in the imperium.

The 13th Penal Legion, aka Col. Schaeffer's Last Chancers.

OK so technically they are not a regiment, but per Only War they are. So I say they count.
