How does that work!!?!?!?!?!

Don't worry the artists obviously based her looks on asian people. She only lives in america (Or wherever the hell it is) by an accident of geography.

While she actually speaks german in the anime... admittely really gak german, but it's something. Never ask Japanese voice actors to do a different language, it will hurt your brain.

Lol she speaks English when I watch it. (I only watch the dub, suck it you haterz!)

Mmm, Western cosplayers are okay for atmosphere. If I look too close, I just become disappointed. It's nice to see people walking around in costume though.

She can gain Japanese citizenship from her part Japanese parent, and does not have to give it up until the age of 21. She gains German citizenship from her part German parent.

If she was born in the USA she would be a US citizen.

If before the age of 20 she married a citizen of Iran, she could hold four passports because wives of Iranian husbands get citizenship automatically.

I have no idea what you're even trying to say anymore. Asuka is much more European (or even "gasp" white!) then Asian, so the blog owner and Kajune are nutbar for claiming that only Asians can cosplay her. There are also plenty of other anime characters that are meant to be "not japanese or asian" that are literally drawn the same as each other, so asians would look silly cosplaying those characters I guess according to the blog owner and Kajune. (Code Geass, practially everyone is British for crying out loud).

Also, we have no idea if Asuka can gain Japanese citizenship or not, because she's listed by the author/director/Character Designer as being an American. We don't know if her parents were Americans of Asian and German descent, or what. Her "part Japanese" parent may be 2nd or 3rd or 4th or so on generation and may not even have Japanese citizenship anymore. But even so, as an American of mostly European descent, she is a poor example for the blog owner to use.

But we all knew that already, because well, we all agree that the blog owner is a nutjob.

I do think there are a lot of cosplayers who are misinformed as to what certain aspects of anime/manga/etc are and prove insulting to the native culture. That's just simple ignorance of courtesy.

That being said, just being offended doesn't grant someone special rights, it just means they are upset.

That blog is pretty damn funny in a "Chick Tract" twisted logic way. The fascination of the Japanese with these anime female characters has a dark underside. The relative large eyes, round head and tiny nose are very paedomorphic in appearance. In normal language that means from an embryological/developmental perspective they are similar to characters at a very early stage.

Coincidentally enough the Japanese produce a hugely disproportionate amount of the world's child pornography.

The difference being that 13 year olds are legal in Japan.
Not so in the rest of the world.

But then again, many other things that are illegal elsewhere are not in Japan. They don't have the moralistic straightjacketing that Abrahamic religions bought the west.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Well yes, sort of….but not really.
However, that’s part of the reason for the popularity of Enjo kyosai (援助交際) aka “compensated dating” where high school-aged girls are paid by older men to “date” them (and render sexual services generally).

Here’s the way the so-called “age 13 is age of consent” works:
The age of consent in Japan is 13 years old under the Japanese national criminal law code. However, all municipalities and prefectures have their own particular laws such as Tokyo’s “Youth Protection Law” which prohibit adults from having sex with youths who are under 17 years old. Because the age of consent in Japan ranges from 13 to 18, depending on jurisdiction, many enjo kyosai clients cannot be charged with statutory rape. See the website:

Japan - Age of Consent
Although the age of sexual consent in Japan is 13 years of age, prefecture law usually overrides federal law, raising the age up to 18.

As an added note, even though the age of consent in Japan can be 13, the age of majority is 20 for voting. The age of adulthood is considered 20 and driving age is 18.

Weird? Here’s a better one. Japan’s “Prostitution Prevention Act”(1958) only prohibits actual sexual
intercourse (or sex controlled by organized crime). That law defines as That law defines as “true” sexual conduct between men and women, and not to “imitation” between same sex persons, so gay prostitution is not prohibited directly. That also makes hand jobs, water queens, or homosexual SM nuns legal.
Therefore, creatively kinky places like the “Sexual Harassment Corporation” where you pay to molest girls in school and business sets are totally legal.

Damn, that may explain why so many Anime have such young heroines. Now I'm creeped out.

There is nothing racist about describing anime cartoon characters as paedomorphic or repeating what has been widely reported, that the Japanese are prolific producers of child porn, that is old news. I guess you just didnt really read the post. Your comment makes no sense at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't cosplay mean "costume play"?

So what came first? DnD roleplay or anime cosplay?

Who started dying... dye-ing... coloring their hair first? Europeans or Asians?

Who has the larger round eyes of multiple colors? The Europeans or the Asians?

The blogger is an idiot pure and simple.

I'll admit I didn't read too much of it only because I couldn'y make out any other words besides Western and Asian.

DnD came out first but it's really not relate-able to cosplay in the sense you're trying to draw a connection. There's been forms of cosplay for as long as there's been humans really. Even Halloween is a form of cosplay.

An Asian playing the race card is damn ludicrous anyway. The Japanese are one of the most homogenous, inward looking, racist people on the planet. The Japanese believe they are superior not only to westerners but also other Asians. This deep rooted superiority complex is one factor that enabled them to commit so many atrocities during the second world war.

I am less familiar with the level of racism among Chinese people but among Koreans racism is very common especially against Africans.
