Hi,

this year, we won't get a long list of kits getting a price increase in June. From 3rd June on (yeah, that's Monday), only all paints, paint sets, sprays, brushes and the Hobby Starter Set will go up (paints from 3 to 3.20 €, sprays from 12.50 to 13 €), which are all products not produced by GW itself.

Other price increases will be done with new releases including repackages. Personally, I expect quite a few repackages, as about half the boxes from module 1 are no longer required (module 1 is the base sortiment for every GW stockist), including most Xeno and Fantasy boxes. But this is personal speculation.

If they wanted to provoke a bit less ire from their fanbase, they should have done it this way, honestly, from the beginning.

Yeah, I've been suspecting for some time they have adopted different price increase strategy - put new products at "sufficient" price level from the start (a'la PP), then gradually adjust old kit pricing bit by bit.

Old style "here is our price increase Tsunami for the year" was perhaps more upfront & honest, but it generated huge amount of Internet badwill.

So for instance, Dark Elf Warriors aren't going to go up in price, they will just suddenly be 5 per box?

Saw that coming after they did it to Guard.

Geeze at this rate the two landraiders I own will be worth quite a bit, even though I don't have any use for them.

GW minis are turning more into a retirement fund than a game it seems

GigaBites then posted a comment saying that he might be looking at Canadian prices. I can confirm that a Land Raider is indeed $89 CAD. This of course doesn't say that there won't be a price increase, we won't know until tomorrow.

Hey everyone, the deadzone Kickstarter ends in 50 minutes.

Tired of paying over £4 for a single dire avenger mini from GW? tired of the price rises?

Would possibly consider spending £0.37 for a single hard plastic mini from Mantic? (plague zombies in the current kickstarter)

Give them a try!

I'm not saying they're perfect, or that they get everything right all the time, but dammit, they're doing it right. GW are doing it wrong.

If not, that's cool. 40k and warhammer are awesome games that I had a huge amount of fun playing for well over a decade and it's fine if you want to keep on enjoying them.

Do whatever makes you happy.

(If Alph can do it I can >_> )

^ That's cool, Dreamforge Kickstarter was even more awesome than Mantic's, to be quite honest.

Where were we? Oh yes, price rises from GW.

Nothing to get upset about really. It is simply to be expected. Don't stress out over it, it's just a force of nature, like the changing of the seasons or the turning of the earth, 100% predictable and guaranteed to happen.

I was just thinking that Khorne Berzerkers need to be cut down to 5 models for $35-40 to bring them in line with all the other 40k 5 model elite boxes.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Careful, you'll be promoted to head of GW Marketing in no time at this rate! Pretty cushy job too, given that you don't actually have to do anything to maintain their current level of marketing...

I don't know that GW could afford to hire an Australian for that job. The minimum wage is way too high over there.

This is great news! It's cheaper to not market at all than it is to pay an Australian!

I just checked out some of the "new" pricing at our local game stores.

It really is that bad.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

So are Ork Boyz now 5 for $29?

And the upgraded Nob for a Boyz unit a separate upgrade sprue for $19?

Yes, sadly I'm debating abandoning my orks and any ideas on another army. Seriously considering moving to another game. Its just to expensive to fast with no sign of slowing.

I'm taking a break from 40k and price hikes. Glad the robotech ks came when it did. After 14 years of 40k I'm kinda tired of grim dark. I'm glad all these other game companies are picking up the slack for GW. I'm also looking to playing skirmish games, kinda burned out on large games as well. As this hobby of ours gets more crowded with quality products from upstart game companies for less $, gives me the impression things will get worse with prices, oh wait...

Does anyone know if GW has taken notice of all these successful games an models coming out from ks or other avenues? Is this part of the reason GW polices are becoming more harsh?

The pace of releases is almost a mirror to how WOTC sped up releases for their MTG cards and DnD 4th Ed material; its so fast you simply get overwhelmed quickly by the snapfire like pace of new material coming at you.

Especially for this hobby which requires many hours of modeling and painting to achieve the desired result. I have when next month rolls around and the army I envisioned becomes obsolete, even if it was a for funsies army.

I thought I might get my green skin fix with some trollbloods. I have been eyeing them for sometime and I do like the models
