Interesting question popped up in a game I played this evening in regards to barrage and scattering off the table. By the way my opponent was using a unit of three biovores. The BRB states that if a blast scatters off the table that the shot is "discarded". Does that mean that since the intial shot was "discarded" that the other two would also be discarded as there isnt an initial shot to flip from?

I don't have the book to hand... but if I remember correctly, you use the final position of the first shot to line up the others, right?
If so then yes, you've lost the whole thing.

That is what I ended up ruling towards as I couldn't find anything that went against it. Anyone else agree/disagree?

That is correct. The only way for the shots to be "saved" was if he was firing directly and not as a barrage.

All barrage is direct unless within min range or out of sight.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Your opponent had 3 Biovore so that is 3 different shots.
They are all separate shots, one of them scattering off the table means nothing to the other two

Multiple Barrage rules take effect.

Your right, forgot about that. :(
Edit:
Since I had to go back and read the Barrage rules:
I have to say that if the 1st shot is "Discarded" then you move on the the next, until the "...first marker is placed..." and then continue.

Actually... No. The multiple barrage rules says:
1) Put down the first marker on the target.
2) Scatter it.
3) Put the next markers like so and so with regards to the first one.
If the first one is off the table, you have no first marker to put the next shots next to and hence no permission to put them anywhere.
So if the first Biovore shot scatters off the table, RAW they all miss.

Keep in mind that "firing directly" in 6th edition no longer makes the weapon "not barrage" like it did in 5th edition. A barrage weapon is always a barrage weapon in 6th.
