Concerning Blel Kadri:

Blel Kadri of the Klas Blel Brood served the Tau during many wars as a bound-mercenary, earning his freedom with three hundred kill notches carved into the wooden stock of his long-rifle. He returned from the Outside to the wandering rogue-moon that had been his home as a hatchling, and lived peacefully amongst the brood for a decade, until the Arch-Heretic Quarrus Xolomon came with his murdering cultists and began to hatch his army of Warped One. The lives of many Kroot were taken by the Warped Ones until the Bronze Man came with the giant warriors in silver and defeated the Arch-Heretic in the battle that would be known to the brood as the Cleansing, and which the Imperials called the Xolomon Deviance.

Defying the orders of the Bronze Man, the Klas Blel joined the Silver Giants in the Cleansing, and many Kroot died that day; those of the brood who lived would forever carry a debt of gratitude to the Silver Giants who died so well and the Bronze Man who crucified the Arch-Heretic, and rid the rogue-moon of its infestation.

Some years later - when the rogue-moon swung back on its orbit out of the warp-storm that kept it isolated for decades at a time - the old Pathfinder Blel Kadri volunteered to journey back to the Outside and find the Bronze Man, to offer blood-bound service as a mercenary again, and to tell the Bronze Man that the Klas Blel had recently discovered that one of the Warped Ones had survived the Cleansing and was loose in the Outsideā€¦

That is wicked!!! What kind of weapon is it supposed to represent? It almost looks like a Tau-ified bolter with such a large barrel.

Can't wait to see it finished!
Good job!

Praise the emperor, bless your weapon and pass the ammo!

jpwyrm - Thanks!
- As to what it is... Started life as a Tau pulse carbine, now it's kind of a 40k version of the Elysium Chem-Rail weapon - Cool before rules... bolt-gun with Tau-sighting system? sounds good to me...

Neat that you drew inspiration from Elysium, the bounty hunter reminded me a lot of Krieger.

rhesusforbreakfast - Thanks!
- The bearded DV cultist kind of reminded me of Kruger from the movie Elysium, so I thought I'd try making him some similar body armour, though still keeping it looking 40k-ish, and added a big gun
- The gun came about because of the scene where Max is firing at the other merc with the chem-rail gun is just awesome!

At last, a small update on Kruger - added his sack-cloth hood:

WOW you really have some crisp detail there, how do you do your GS straps as they are so perfect ?

Your weapon conversions are stunning love the mix of tech, you seem to be able to combined the parts without that awkward look you see on most.

Kruger is one cool looking mini love the webbing layout the front chest pouch is a work of genius, I may have to borrow that idea

- The GS straps are a cheat rather than good sculpting:
- Mix a ball of GS
- Let it cure for 20 minutes, use vaseline to line a small plastic bag
- Drop your GS in the bag, then use a small rolling pin - or your knife handle - and roll the GS flat to desired thickness
- Now let it cure about 24 hours - you end up with a small sheet of flexible rubbery GS
- Cut it into straps - nice and crisp
- I used a similar technique for the rolled-back hood, though i only let the sheet of GS cure for about an hour, then sort of layered into place
- For a larger bit like the chest plate, I sculpted it as best I could, smoothed the front face , let it cure about an hour or so and then use a sharp blade to cut neat edges

Well it works and works well might try that for a few things in the future .
But your weapons are epic conversions , the big guys looks like it packs a punch look at the size of it

The Tau conversion has some great plastic rod work but the thing I like about it most is it blends but still changes the overall look.

Great stuff

Did you use a stipple application on the armour ? I am just trying to work out how you painted it, I would like to replicate a similar style of armour on my chaos warriors

- Rusty metal recipe:
- Drybrush Boltgun Metal over undercoat - which was very 'gritty', not smooth at all - intentionally so
- Wash with brown oil paint - clean some off where you want highlights
- Add a few selective washes of Asurmen Blue and Baal Red into the shadows
- Drybrush and stipple lightly with Mithril Silver (almost no paint on the brush!)
- Finally, dabble a little rust-colored pastel (or weathering powder if you've got those...)

Dr H wrote:So this is where you've been Lamby. Looking great. Good job.
Dr H - Thanks! - and yes, the shadowed mysteries of the Inquisition have seduced me...

Thanks for the recipe

I had a vague idea but the pastel rust on the top stumped me, it looks like a previous application rather than the last nice work

Finally, Kruger got himself a funky undercoat:

Kruger's initial paint scheme wasn't working for me, and the gun was just too big - so he's been stripped, the gun re-worked into more of a carbine than the blunderbuss it was - currently WIP:

i liked the first gun a lot better... and in 40K everything is oversized... everything but the human brain that is...

Eh...
Inmygravenimage: That's sweet dude. I bet her ass is bad...
Camkierhi - What a load of rubbish... Amazing!
Rogue Wolves - Its rediculous how much character you pack into those guys
Skalk Bloodaxe: I know those will be awesome when finished, but right now they look like crackers.

MauS - Thanks for commenting - even counting for 40k over-sizing, the gun was just too big so it had to be re-sized
- BUT, I agree this version is a bit 'meh' compared to the previous version, so I attacked it again tonight, and hopefully will complete it tomorrow, at which time I'll take some more pics

Yes I have to agree the previous gun was more impressive but I see your point some time (even in the 40K universe) a little realism is required.

I will hold out to see how it looks once the new paint job arrives, plus I ordered a couple of sets of the cultists after being inspired by your work

I also might copy your chest rig if you don't mind works and looks cool

lone dirty dog - The weapon is getting some more attention this evening, pics to follow
- And no worries with the chest webbing, copy away - I take plenty of' inspiration' taken from all over the place myself!
