Assassin WIP - knife hand: And manriki-gusari (apparently it is not - as I have previously called it - a kusari-gama, which was a short handled sickle with a chain...): Inigo Scarface PIP - ready for oil wash stage: And the under-pinning structure of Kallatar's 2nd coat-tail has been sculpted and glued into place: Thanks for looking!

Dr H - Thanks! Meanwhile... - Inigo Scarface Montoya - post oil wash, still looks glossy because I haven't matt sprayed him - Next up, skin layers, highlighting and final details: - The Assassin has armour and a suitably mysterious masque... - Still yet to fix the damage to her braid by covering it with a wrapping - And I'm still deciding whether she needs a belt with some kit - probably not, she's a bit more ninja than commando... - I'm still wondering if the tri-panel leg armour screams Dark Eldar, and if I should make them a single panel similar to Fury's... thoughts? - And Kallatar's coat now has wind-swept tails: As always, thanks for looking and commenting!

Freytag - Thanks!
- She's actually leaning almost too far forward, when I base her I'm going to angle her upward slightly as though she's leaping off some machine bit.
- Colors... as she's part of the Ordo Xenos retinue, she'll be predominantly blue - from black-blue up through the spectrum, purple nuances, slightly battered steel... the back of her head will be bare skin, the masque peeling white paint over steel

Kallatar just looks so defiant in her pose, yet feminine still which is a good trick.
Agree on the assassin she needs to be raised, other wise she would look like she is stumbling slightly which I don't think is the look you are going for
As for Inigo I will wait till he is finished as early paint stages can look a little strange, however I know from your other work he will turn out a winner

LDD - Thanks! - Kallatar is coming along slowly but as I envisaged - though the front of the coat is going to prove a little difficult I think - Inigo is complete, his base is drying, tomorrow there will be pics! In the mean time, here's Kallatar's somewhat scratch-built double-barrel wheel-lock: - It's not really evident, but as well as the gun build, I've sliced and sanded that hand down a lot - those Empire pistoleers have massive paws, far too 'man-hands' for the girls. I had similar issues with Fury. Thanks for looking!

LDD - Thanks! - She's a highly trained Inquisitrix of the Ordo Xenos - she bosses around Deathwatch Astartes and once punched out an Ork - a small one, admittedly - she'll have no trouble wielding that HandCannon!
(Incidentally, one of my favourite authors of all time - Iain M Banks (RIP) - had a female character named Sharrow (in the wondrous novel Against A Dark Background) whose favourite gun was the silenced FrintArms ten-millimetre HandCannon with eleven ten-seven coaxial depleted-uranium-casing mercury-core general-purpose rounds in the magazine plus one in the breech... which I just might put into her fluff as a little tribute to Mr Banks...)

Medium of Death - Thanks! - No gods or saints here - my secret is blood sacrifice... and a lot of swearing! So finally, the newest member of the Skeleton Crew is done: Inigo ‘Scarface’ Montoya (With apologies to William Goldman…) Inigo ‘Scarface’ Montoya recently joined the Skeleton Crew, though he is a veteran of a thousand duels and a hundred small conflicts, having traversed the galaxy seeking the man who killed his father. His father Domingo - a retired Imperial Guard commissar - had challenged an aristocrat to a duel regarding an unpaid gambling debt. Domingo was a skilled swordsman, and easily disarmed and blooded the aristocrat, but he was slain by a dishonourable knife in the back. Inigo witnessed the duel and the murder, and challenged the aristocrat to a duel immediately. The aristocrat disarmed the boy and left him with the scar he bears on his face to this day. Inigo does not know the aristocrats name, only that he had six rubies embedded in the hilt of the dagger he used to kill Domingo. Inigo therefore begins every duel with the question: “I do not mean to pry, but do you by chance own a dagger with six rubies on the hilt?” Inigo has studied sword play for twenty years, mastering all the classical styles, including Bonetti’s Defence, Capo Ferro, Thibault and Agrippa. He tutors many of the mercenaries in blade work for extra coin, because as he has discovered over twenty years of wandering, there’s not a lot of money in revenge. Though Inigo will always conduct sword duels with impeccable honour, in the press of a skirmish or the sneak of a stalk-mission, he is pragmattic enough to admit a gun doesn’t go astray, and thus carries his father’s Commissariat bolt-pistol, customised with a suppressor. And while he wears the standardised desert camouflage of the Skeleton Crew, he has painted the rims of his armour red, the same colour as his father’s bolt-pistol, to always remind him that his ultimate aim is revenge for his father's murder…

After posting Inigo (up there), KrautScientist had a good crit about the cowl not framing the face, and suggested a colour change might improve the overall look.
While the suggested colour was a neutral grey, I chose to go for the purple-hued brown, trying to match his gaiters, and the hood on Kruger... Judge for yourself if it worked or not.
I also went back with Mithril Silver and scuffed up both the armour plates and rims, because the red was over-dominating the whole model.
So here he is anew, Inigo Scarface Montoya:
I have to admit, this one has been hard to photograph, the yellow and red seem to be clashing and throwing off the white balance.
Anyway, moving on!

I have to say he looks much better now the colour has lifted the model, plus he looks more healthy as before he looked a little drained in colour.
The armour and sword hilt looks more effective good decision on the Mithril silver drybrush.

LDD - Thanks.
- I agree his colour is better, I did another pass with skin tones and purple wash when I was washing the cowl.
- Weathering always seems to improve things - I'm not a very clean painter as it is, so the dirty style suits me anyway
Dr H wrote:Yeah, that all works. Good improvements.
Dr H - Thanks.
So, Hatchet moves along slowly:
- Press-copied the forearm of the Chaos Knights arm
- The original RH arm will be wielding the chain-axe - it was going to be a hatchet but I found this left over Cataphractii ax and it's too cool not to use
- Completely managed to destroy the plasma pistol and hand I was going to use, thought I'd see what a bolter looked like but this one isn't cool enough, so it'll either be a plasma pistol (when I can source one) or a newer bolter with the hanging strap
Thanks for looking!

... Meanwhile, Mr. Hatchet is back to carrying a hatchet/ax instead of the chain-axe, because the chain-axe was too big for the way the right arm hangs... and I just realised the right arm isn't in these pics, so instead, here's the left forearm made by press-molding the right arm:
And did some underpinning for the front part of Kallatar's long coat - it looks kind of rough, but it's yet to be sanded down to blend the edges into the coat, and then the collar and lapels will be added:
Astute observers may notice Kallatar has a new sword - this is for two reasons:
1 - This one has a single sling point, which fits the coat and belt better, and
2 - I broke the old one off...
Cheers!

MoD - Thanks -it's all smoke and mirrors sculpting, the trick is to make it look far more complicated than it really is...
- As for Hatchet of the Wretched Sons, see below for his progress...
Dr H wrote:Good progress, Lamby.
Dr H - Thanks!
- Hatchet is all but completed, only shoulder pads - one of them stupidly complicated (why? WHY?) - and some minor detailing like knives and pouches to go!
- I re-aligned the arm as it was drooping a bit, added the plasma pistol hand, and filled in the gaps with GS, a bit of sanding to blend and this arm will be done:
And the waist-coat bit of Kallatar's coat is done, apart from some sanding to blend edges - filling in that ab area has helped reduce the overwhelming presence of her bosom...
- To complete the coat I now have to glue the arms in place, fill in gaps, fix the back of the coat, tackle the lapels and collar...
Thanks for looking!

Freytag - Thanks: over on Ammobunker KrautScientist and I have been having a conversation about her overwhelming presence and how to fix it... though considering she started out as a man, a hefty California torso enhancement is not out of the question Kallatar continues to stare at me while I ignore her and try and figure out how to tell her she has to get a breast reduction - there's a conversation I thought I'd never have with a woman! - so I did some fill-in work on the Assassin's leg plates to try and un-Dark Eldar her a little... forgot to do the leg straps, doh!: Hatchet had a his ab-plate attached, and his hatchet arm added, and a small ridge to the rim of the torso - all these Wretched Sons are going to have different armour styles, and nothing too ostentacious since the crackle paint job (go back and look at Zamael the Helbrute) tends to eliminate spurious detail... And here's the shoulder pauldrons - the doctored Chaos pad is a little fiddly, but the WoC Knights pad with the GS pad almost defeated me! Thanks for looking!

Still avoiding the breast reduction conversation, I thought I'd get Kallatar's sword-belt system sorted, you know, 5 minutes work or so, easy days... I was so wrong. 2 hours and a lot of 'That's it, melt her down with a blowtorch!" moments later, here's Kallatar's sword belt system: (The black sharpie lines are where the lapels are going to go - trying to cover up that porn star chest of hers...) Finished off by positioning Hatchet's shoulder pads, realised after taking these pics I'd forgotten to put his backpack on... Also, yes: his head is lopsided (not glued in yet for painting): Random question: I normally always drill bolter and pistol barrels, but should I drill out the plasma pistol barrel? Cheers!
